Daddybats

Daddybats

You've been with the Batfamily for about 10 months. You came along just like Damian did, Bruce got someone pregnant and didn't know about you until you were in danger.  Needless to say, not everyone in the Batfamily took well to you. However, after a few months, every member of the family just adored you.

You had become Robin when Damian turned 17, which was only about a month ago. You were a little different from the rest of the family though: you have powers. Your mother had powers and she passed them down to you when you were born.

One night Dick decided to take you out to the trampoline park; he knows how much you like to show off your acrobatic skills just as much as he does.

"Hey, Y/N, watch this!" He told you, flipping from one trampoline to another and back.

"Oh please, Grayson. I could do that when I was 7." You smirked, jumping and doing a double back flip.

After about an hour and a half of jumping, showing off, and having fun Dick's phone started buzzing.

"I'll be right back, gonna answer this." Dick told you. You nodded and he walked away, calling you over frantically a few seconds later. He showed you the bat symbol alert on his phone. "It's Bruce. Something happened, but his tracker is offline."

"Give me your phone, I can find him." You told him. He did so and you both rushed to his car to search for your father.

-

"What happened?" Bruce asked as you and Dick carried him to the car. You looked up at your brother to find him looking back, having a mental battle as to who would tell him.

"You blacked out. It's okay, we got you." Dick told him.

"Let go of me, I can walk." Bruce muttered, but you didn't move.

"I don't think so. The gas that you were exposed to was numbing gas. It makes you unable to move by numbing your muscles. It should wear off in a few hours." Dick said. You guys arrived at the car and Dick held onto Bruce as you got in. He laid your father across the backseat, with his head in your lap.

You avoided eye contact with him, but pulled his cowl off of his head for him. Dick got in the drivers seat and brought the car to life, getting the hell out of the warehouse. You watched the sights out the window, not noticing Bruce looking up at you with a frown on his face.

"Hey... What's wrong?" Bruce asked you, making you look down at him. You pulled your mask off and stared at him.

"Nothing." You lied, running your hand through his hair.

"I know you're lying. Tell me what's going on."

"Really, it's nothing." You told him, looking out the window again.

I should have been there to help.

He wouldn't be like this if I had been there.

I'm supposed to be his sidekick, his daughter. This shouldn't have happened.

"Y/N. Y/N! Are you listening?" You blinked as you refocused your vision, realizing that you had arrived back at the Manor. Dick drove the car into the garage so that no one would see Batman at Bruce Wayne's house.

I just had to go out with big brother Nightwing tonight, didn't I?

I can't just abandon my responsibilities as Robin like that again, I should've been with Batman.

The same thoughts kept running through your mind: variants of 'should've been there' and 'shouldn't have happened.' You had noticed Dick get out of the car and make his way around to the other side, where Bruce's feet lay on the seat, and open the door.

"Y/N, can you help me with him?" He asked, but you didn't answer. You felt that if you would have answered, you would have started crying. You quickly lifted up Bruce's upper body, and in a state of panic, opened the door next to you and ran inside the house.

"Y/N!" Both men shouted in sync. You heard it, but didn't turn back.

You felt the tears slowly flow down your face as you ran to your room and didn't see Damian, making you run into him and fall to the ground.

"What the-" He started, cutting himself off when he saw you. "Y/N?" He asked, holding a hand out to help you up. You shook your head and got up on your own. "What's wrong?"

"Go help Dick." You told him, rushing past him before he could grab you. You ran to your room and locked the door, sliding against it to the ground and sobbing.

-

"Y/N!" Both men shouted in sync.

"Go after her." Bruce told Dick, making him shake his head.

"No."

"Dick-"

"Bruce I will check on her after I get you settled, okay?" Dick said, making Bruce sigh in unhappiness.

Just then, Damian walked out into the garage in confusion.

"Grayson? What the hell happened?" He asked.

"I'll tell you later, just help me with Bruce." Dick answered.

"Father?" Damian asked in confusion, before giving up and helping.

"Okay, what the hell happened?" Damian asked once they had gotten Bruce settled on the couch.

"Dick, find her." Bruce said sternly, worried more about you than anything else.

"Alright." Dick said. "Damian, ask your father. It's not like he can go anywhere." Dick smirked, walking away from the two and towards your room.

"Y/N? You in there?" He asked once he got to your door, but received no answer. However, he could hear you move against the door. "Y/N, c'mon. Bruce wants to see you."

You froze when he said that.

He's gonna fire me. I won't be Robin anymore.

"Why?" You asked, making your voice sound normal.

"Because he's worried about you. We all are. You ran off really fast back there." He explained. "Are you okay?"

"I'm not coming out." You told him, and he heard the wetness of your voice.

"Y/N, are you crying?" He asked. "Let me in." He said urgently, trying to open the door.

"Just go away, Dick." You told him.

"No, Y/N." He said. "You can either let me in, or I break in. Your choice."

You sighed, knowing your adoptive brother enough to know that he wasn't going to leave, so you stood up and unlocked the door. You moved away from the door and started over to the window. You didn't make it there, however, because Dick put his arms around you, stopping you.

"Talk to me." He said, turning you around to face him. You looked into his bright blue eyes and got upset again.

"It's all my fault." You sobbed, falling into him. He brought you both down to the ground, holding you in his arms.

"What? What's your fault?" He asked.

"B-Bruce..." He tightened his grip on you.

"Y/N, that isn't your fault. You weren't even there." Dick said, trying to calm you down.

"Exactly!" You exclaimed. "If I had been there, I could have kept this from happening!"

"Hey, hey... Calm down. It's okay." He said, rubbing your back.

"I could have used my powers. I could have kept him safe!"  You sobbed.

"Y/N-"

"I have a responsibility to be Robin. I'm supposed to stay with the Batman! I'm following in every single one of you guys' footsteps, I have to keep the Robin mantle strong!"

"Y/N-"

"I should've kept him safe..." You sobbed.

"Y/N, shh... Calm down, it's alright. Bruce is okay..." Dick trailed off. "Come on, you're getting too upset."

You gasped and pulled away from crying in Dick's shirt, looking around and noticing that in your upset state, you had used your ability to fly to lift both you and Dick about 3 feet off the ground.

"I'm sorry..." You told him, trying to calm down so you would be grounded again.

"Hey, it's okay. Floating is fun..." He said, making you chuckle. You eventually floated back down to the ground as Dick held you. "Y/N, come on... Come see Bruce."

"Dick, I will fly out of that window right now." You said, pointing to the window. "Please, just... I can't see him right now, not while he's like that. Just tell him... Tell him I fell asleep."

"Y/N-" he said sternly.

"Dick, please." You said with pleading eyes. He stared at you for a second before sighing.

"Fine. But, please, at least try to go to bed so I'm not that much of a liar?"

"I will." You smiled, standing up with him and hugging him.

-

"Dick, where is she?" Bruce asked as his son entered the living room again.

"She was asleep when I went up there. I didn't want to bother her." Dick lied.

"Dick, you were up there for 15 minutes. You can't just tell me that she was asleep. Why doesn't she want to come down here?" Bruce asked. He just wished he could move.

"She's... just-"

"Dick, don't lie to me."
"Grayson, don't lie." Both Bruce and Damian said together.

"She... blames herself for what happened to you..." Dick said. He really didn't want to be having this conversation.

"What?" Bruce asked sharply. "Damian, go. get. Y/N. Don't take no for an answer."

"Bruce, I really don't think-" Dick tried to say.

"Dick, I have to see her. Damian, go." Bruce told his son. Damian left the room and followed Bruce's orders. Once he got to your room, he knocked on your door.

"I want to be alone." You called from inside.

"I don't care, let me in." Damian said, making you sigh. You used your telekinesis and opened the door. You looked to the seventeen year old from where you sat your bed.

"I'm going to sleep." You told him.

"We both know that's not the truth. Grayson isn't a good liar." Damian said, moving closer to you.

"Really, from all the years he's been a hero and had a secret identity, I would've thought differently." You said sarcastically, turning away from him. "I'm not going to see him."

"You have to." Damian told you, sitting on your bed.

"I can't." You said.

"Well, you're going to." Damian tried to grab your wrist, but you flew up and away from him. "I don't think so!" He exclaimed, grabbing your ankle instead.

"Damian, let go!" You said, trying to free yourself from his grip. But, man, does he have one hell of a grip.

"Y/N, you need to come and see our father!" He yelled, pulling you over to the door.

"I'll see him once he's better!" You said. Damian pulled you until you reached the door and gave up on trying to fly away from him. "Fine, I'll go see him."

Damian walked with a hand on your shoulder until you reached the living room.

"Y/N. Come here." Bruce said once he saw you. "Dick, Damian, give us a few minutes."

You walked over and took Dick's place on the chair that was placed in front of the couch, staring at the ground to avoid eye contact with your father.

"Y/N." Bruce said, trying to get you to look at him, but you didn't.

"Yeah?" You asked, keeping your eyes trained on the floor.

"Y/N, please look at me." He begged, making you do as he asked. You moved the chair closer and grabbed his limp hand.

"I'm sorry." You told him.

"Why are you sorry? You have nothing to be sorry for." Bruce told you earnestly.

"I should've been there with you." You told him.

"You were better off with your brother." He responded. You looked at him skeptically.

"Yeah, I was out having fun while you were out getting hurt." You sniffed, feeling yourself getting emotional again. "No... I should've been there. I would've kept this from happening to you."

"This isn't your fault, Y/N." Bruce told you.

"You can tell me that as much as you want, but that doesn't mean it's true." You said, letting go of his hand and standing up.

"Where do you think you're going?" Bruce asked sharply.

"I can't be here right now." You told him, rushing out of the living room and back to your own, ignoring his calls to get you to come back. You pulled on your Robin uniform through the tears brimming your eyes and flew out of the window.

-

"Y/N! Y/N, get back here!" Bruce yelled, making both Damian and Dick rush back in he living room.

"Where'd she go?" Dick asked.

"I don't know, but she's upset and you need to find her." Bruce told his sons sharply. They both nodded and left the living room, rushing to your bedroom only to find the window open and an empty room.

"What the hell is going on?" Tim walked into your room and asked. He had heard running and woke up, following the sounds of footsteps.

"Long story short, Bruce got hit with a numbing gas while Y/N was with me and she blames herself for not being there, so she left. Damian and I have to go look for her, you have to go distract Bruce." Dick explained. "Damian, come on."

"Wait, why do I have to go sit with him?" Tim asked.

"Because we have to go find her!" Dick told him.

"Fine! But hurry." Tim told the two as they headed for the clock entrance to the batcave.

-

You wiped the tears off your face as you jumped from rooftop to rooftop, looking for someone to take down. If you're being honest, you want to find Penguin and teach him what happens when someone messes with your father.

And you smirked as you found him and his stupid minions about to rob a bank.

"Alright, now that that useless bat is out of the way, we can get some work done!" Penguin announced. You pulled your hood over your head and smirked to yourself as you hovered over them.

"Hey, Cobblepot!" You shouted, making them all look up to you. "You hurt the Bat, now you get to have your ass handed to you by a pissed off bird."

In about 45 seconds, you had all of his minions tied up and held Penguin upside down by his foot using your telekinesis.

"What are you gonna do, kill me?" He asked frantically.

"Oh, no. You see, unlike you, I'm not stupid. You made me angry, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna off you. That also doesn't mean that I can't have a little fun." You smirked, letting your hold in him go as he fell to the ground screaming. Right as he was about to hit the ground, you lifted him up again and repeat the action. You did this several times before-

"Robin! What are you doing?!" A frantic voice called out from the rooftop behind you. You kept your grasp on Penguin but turned to see Dick and Damian standing there.

"Nightwing, Redbird, glad you came around." You said. "I'm just having a little fun."

"Robin." Dick said sharply, glaring at you. However, you knew him, and you knew that underneath the mask, he was amused.

"I'm not doin anything wrong!" You whined, but gave up anyway. "Fine... I'll put him down." You said, using your telekinesis you throw Penguin up in the air and catch him by his collar and hold him close to your face. "You hurt my father again, and I won't be so nice."

"I won't, I won't!" He cried, begging you to let him go. You floated down to the ground and tied him up with the rest of his goons, before commenting lightly:

"Oh, and GCPD are on their way. I made a courtesy call for you." You said, smirking before lifting back up in the air and becoming level with your brothers. They just stared at you.

"What?" You asked defensively.

"You know that's not what we do." Dick told you, crossing his arms.

"He messed with my family! You can't tell me you wouldn't do the same thing!" You exclaimed.

"Maybe I would have, but that doesn't matter." Dick told you.

"Whatever, I didn't do anything wrong." You said, beginning to lead the two home. "Did either of you at least get in on video?"

"Oh, I got every second of it!" Damian told you, tossing his phone to you.

"Yes! This is why you're my favorite brother." You told him, lowering down and hugging him.

"Hey!"

"One of my favorites." You chuckled, putting one arm around Dick and leaving the other around Damian.

-

"Grounded?!" You exclaimed.

When you had arrived back at the cave with your brothers and saw Bruce was up and moving, you were ecstatic. You even let go of Dick and Damian and flew over to Bruce to hug him, but stopped when he muttered two words:

"You're grounded."

"Dad, I didn't do anything wrong!" You shouted. "I was just defending you!"

"I don't need to be defended, Y/N. I'm not some weak child." Bruce said roughly, typing away on the bat-computer. You sighed, dropping your gaze to the floor.

"Right, cause you're the big bad Batman. You never need help, and you work better alone." You said quietly, looking over to where Jason and Tim had joined Dick and Damian. "Except when you don't."

Bruce turned the chair to look at you, but you had already started walking away and gently lifted yourself off the ground to fly back up to the manor.

"Bruce..." Dick muttered.

-

The four brothers walked up the stairs and towards your room together, not saying a word. As they got closer to your door, they saw something sitting outside of it: your Robin uniform. Jason put his finger up to his lip, silently telling the others to stay quiet. Upon putting his hand on your doorknob, he discovered it to be open. He looked at the boys confused, but slowly opened your door and saw you laying on the bed, seemingly asleep.

Dick, Damian and Tim stayed by the door as Jason made his way around your bed and wound up in front of your sleeping figure. He grabbed your hand that hung off of the bed and sighed.

"What you did today, kid, was..." He muttered.

"Irresponsible, rash, unnecessary." You said, scaring the life out of him. "I don't need to be told that, I already got it from the Bat-"

"It was awesome." Jason cut you off, making you open your eyes and look at him.

"That's not what he thinks." You told him, breaking eye contact with him.

"Well he's wrong." Tim spoke up, making you turn to see him walking over to your bed while Dick and Damian followed.

"I don't get why he's being so cold to me. I was just trying to defend him." You explained, making Dick take his place next to you.

"You know how he is, Y/N. He's just... really independent." Dick told you.

"I just wish..." You started, but felt emotion rush over you. "Why doesn't he accept me?" You whimpered out. They all glanced at each other before looking back at you worriedly.

"Y/N-" Dick started.

"I get that I'm the outcast here, I do." You told them. "I'm the only girl. I'm the only one who has powers-" you gasped, thinking that must be it. "Is that it? Is that why? Cause I have powers. I know he doesn't like metas, but-"

"Y/N, calm down!" Damian exclaimed, pushing Dick back and putting his arms around you. "He doesn't hate you. He loves you. And you are not an outcast, you're just like me. You're blood."

"You're an acrobat." Dick added, joining the hug.

"You're a detective." Tim said, joining as well.

"You're a badass." Jason finally said, putting a hand on Tim's shoulder to show his affection.

"Oh, get in here ya baby!" Dick smirked, grabbing Jason's hand and pulling him onto the bed with the rest of his siblings.

"Thanks guys." You smiled gratefully at your brothers. "Can you... stay with me for the night?"

"We weren't gonna leave." Dick told you, making the other three nod in agreement.

It was about 10 minutes later that your older brothers lay passed out around you. And you tried, you really tried to fall asleep, but for some reason you couldn't. So you slowly sat up and looked at the moon outside.

"Pst."

You turned and saw Tim staring up at you.

"Sorry, did I wake you?" You whispered to him, making him shake his head.

"No. He wants to talk to you." He answered, nudging his head towards the door. You looked at it and saw a black shadow in the light under the door. You sighed, muttering a "be right back" and used your telekinesis to untangle yourself from your brothers and flew over to the door. You opened and saw your father standing there in a black shirt and blue pajama pants. You quickly stepped out of your room and looked up at your father.

"You... saw the whole thing, didn't you?" You asked, making him nod. "Right... Cause you're Batman."

"Y/N, I may be Batman, but I am your father first." Bruce told you, placing a hand on your shoulder. "I should've had this attitude earlier when you came back... Y/N, you're my daughter. You're the most important girl in my life, you have to realize that. When you ran off earlier, I was... scared that something could happen to you. I know that you can handle yourself, but I still worry."

"Dad, I know you worry. You're not the best at hiding your emotions from those closest to you, especially me." You told him, smiling slightly. He gave a gentle smile in return and pulled you into hug him.

"I love you, Y/N. Don't ever think any different." He told you.

"I love you too."

"You should get back to your brothers. Good night, honey."

"Night, Dad."

You walked back in your room and floated above the bed to get back in, but not before a sight stopped you.  You smirked and used your telekinesis to get your phone, opening it and getting into the camera, taking a picture of Dick and Damian. Dick had his arms around his younger brother as Damian slept on his chest. It reminded you of all the stories you had heard about when Damian would go to Dick when he had nightmares and spent the night with his brother. You set your phone down before looking back at Tim to see him smirking.

"C'mere." He told you, opening his arms for you. You smiled and floated down into his arms. "You gotta send me that."

You smirked at his comment.

"Blackmail?"

"Duh." He chuckled.

"Yeah, okay." You laughed along, cuddling up to him. "Tim?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you." You told him, closing your eyes. You felt him place a kiss on top of your head.

"I love you too, little sister."
