GIFT SHOPPING

The time flew by talking and eating. We sat at the diner for about three hours chatting. It was mostly Sasha telling them how amazing they were- something they already were aware of- and how she was waiting for their second album to release. The boys kept entertaining her with her trifle demands which included: an autographed tissue from each, a song to be sung out to her by both-they sang Lady by Kevin Rogers – and their follow back on twitter and requests on Facebook.

I could just laugh at all her demands; she was actually making them feel like a celebrity that they actually were acting like one. Well, I did notice a difference in behavior put out to Sasha and then to me. To Sasha it was all the celebrity- fan treatment; with me they were slightly different. Well could be because I wasn't their fan. I liked the boys, very much indeed but they had just started out and to me U2 was still on the top. Who knows how far the boys will go, right? But then again, I liked their music, the song's lyrics as well as their voices. So I better consider myself on the road to fandom already then.

I stayed quiet most of the time till Blake spoke up, 'You know what? You guys should come to Noah and Nolan's birthday party the coming month. It'll be fun!'

I looked at them unsure. Judging by the look on Sasha's face I could say that she would jump to a yes to whatever they'd say. But it was my call here. She was waiting for me to say something. My eyes just scanned all of their hopeful faces before settling on Sasha's. Her eyes were literally screaming, say yes! Say Yes, at me. And to be honest, that was not at all helpful if you ask me.

But then again, a lot could change in a month. And they were no normal people, but ones with hectic life. I wasn't sure if amidst their busy schedule they would even have time to remember or even have time to remember the two girls named Sasha and Chastity. I said a yes, knowing completely that I wouldn't regret it later.

After the third hour-that was about nine or fifteen minutes stale-we got up to leave. We hadn't had any trouble from any of their fans until then when a small girl entering the diner with her elder sister said, 'look Lanie! They are the boys who sing songs.'

And that was all it took for the girl, who I think was called Lanie, to yell, 'Oh my God! You are The Black Illusions!' Every eye in the parlour first stared at the crazy fan girl, and then they turned their heads to us. It took a second for them to process that the celebrities were in the house, and another second for them to pull out their phones and cameras and start clicking pictures. Fans swarmed around them and Sasha and I were afraid that soon a stampede would commence.

There weren't much people in the diner, yet there were enough to surround the stars and make it really hard for us to breath. It was all very strange to me and gave me the feel of the rush. The place had been extremely serene and then the other minute it was like an explosion; totally unexpected and loud.

'Boy!' I exclaimed blinking at the flashing lights of the phone's cameras at us. 'Is it always this crazy?'

Blake and Arthur chuckled. 'We've seen worse,' Blake whispered to me. The next few minutes the boys patiently signed each tissue that was offered to them to sign. The fans clicked some pictures; some were taken by Sasha and me, and in some we were too. Soon it was all over when Arthur and Blake began ushering us towards the door. Some of the fans followed them to the door, but no one came out along with us.

'Whoa!' Sasha breathed out.

'Sorry about that back there,' Arthur said.

'What happened to you?' Blake asked chuckling at my troubled look.

'I can't believe I act like that at times,' I said, disgusted and appalled. Now I knew how Adam Clayton must feel. The boys laughed while I swore never to lose myself again.

'You know, we should hang out sometime,' Arthur suggested.

I smiled at him not giving him a proper answer.

They offered to call a cab for us but I was in the walking distance to my flat so I declined the offer. However, Sasha got a ride back to her home which I am sure must've been an amazing experience for her. Come to think of it, the whole day in itself was pretty amazing. Well, at least to me. From the interview to the dinner, it was all pretty awesome. I mean how many times do you get to sit and dine with a celebrity like that, yeah? Sasha must've been thrilled. I bet she might be wishing upon a star for this night to be never ending. I really wish she could go and meet the other two as well. The only fault in the night was that Sasha didn't get to meet Nolan and Noah. But at least she met the love of her life.

All in all the experience even taught me one thing; the most valuable lesson of all- no matter how big a fan you are, never scream around in front of your idol. They might not make it visible, but it isn't very attractive. At least now I knew how to behave in front of U2; if they ever showed up.

Back at home, I saw all the chips and coke still lying on my coffee table. Having changed into my pyjamas and a soft tee, I got to work. I sealed the chips away in an airtight container and put the bottle of coke in the fridge. I decided to watch TV for a while. But since nothing was up, I had to turn in one of Sasha's movie DVD on. Out of the five, I just liked one, The Notebook. I fell asleep on the couch.

The next day at the university was even more hectic. We were given some more papers to work on and Sasha wouldn't shut talking about how awesome the other day was. She wanted to know if I had their digits, or if I was planning on meeting them anytime soon. I told her that I had no such plans and that they were celebrities, they didn't have time either. Thankfully, she hadn't spread the word around that I knew the boys from The Black Illusions. At home, I engrossed myself in the papers I had. My drama teacher, Mrs. Morris, loved my musical so much that she wanted me to prepare another one for a showcase that was two months away. She told me that the guest list included some big stars and Oscar-winning directors. None could know the joy I was in at that time.

The play this time had to be more than perfect. I really wanted to see myself as an established writer/ director. And I had my chance in front of me. I just had to make it work.

For over the next few weeks, I was to my crown surrounded by papers. After the university, I would work on writing my play and used to be busy quite a lot. As I got more and more engrossed in my work it took me no time to forget all that had happened. And I guess the same happened to the celebrities.

Within two weeks, I was over with my play, Mrs. Morris liked it too. But then she told me to go with the originals for the showcase. As per my original writing, she said she promised me to a theatrical gig at a theatre she worked at. Well, I was a bit disappointed but it soon I got over it. The third week she took me to the theatre with her and it was the same week I started auditioning my co-mates for the roles- both for the showcase as well as the gig.

Sasha was helping me in both. I started working with my friends on the gig as well as for the showcase. I must say all of them were very dedicated towards the work. They were always ready to push themselves, whenever I asked them to do something, they would. Soon Mrs. Morris offered me a part-time job with her at the theatre as her assistant director. I tagged Sasha along. And truly it was fun working with her.

'Can you believe I let my sister borrow my sweater for a week?' Sasha groaned, covering her face in my bed. 'I mean I know she never brings back anything in one piece.'

I laughed, giving her a mug of tea and sitting down on the edge of the bed. Sasha sat up in the bed and took the mug. It was pretty warm outside for a November morning. That's the thing with London. You can never be sure of the weather here. Last night, Sasha and I had a sleepover since we were both going to leave for our homes for the thanksgiving. We had decided to go shopping today and buy our family some gifts.

'What do you say I should buy my mother?' I asked, dubious. I couldn't remember mom wishing for something over the phone or something that she really wanted.

'A coat,' Sasha suggested taking a sip of her tea.

'She has a dozen,' I said rolling my eyes. 'Something good, which might be of some use to her.'

She shrugged. 'No help here.'

I pouted in dismay. 'Elliot is really easy to predict.'

'Will he be there too?'

I nodded. 'He had been in new York for quite a while. They weren't letting him leave. But, mom and dad were missing him a lot, so he applied for leave.'

'Your brother is quite like you,' Sasha pointed out.

I laughed. 'He is my brother. What did you expect?'

'Xavier and I are two different poles,' she said rolling her eyes and sipping her tea. I laughed.

After about an hour, we left to go shopping. As we entered a store, my eyes scanned everything that was there, mostly were the clothes and it was so annoying to not know what to gift to your own mother. I pulled put my phone from the pocket of my jacket and called dad. He picked up after five rings.

'Chastity, how are you?' he asked.

'Great. And you?'

'Well I was just licking the maple syrup in the kitchen,' he whispered.

I giggled. My father was almost sixty and mom being a diet conscious lady had cut him off on sugars thinking it might help him. But my father and food were like two love bird madly in love.

'Don't tell your mother of this,' he warned. 'Else I will not give you your thanksgiving present as I will no longer be thankful to you in anyway.'

I couldn't help but laugh at his threats. He was so adorable.

He laughed softly too. 'What's the matter, kid?'

'I need help,' I groaned. 'I have no clue on what to buy for mom and I am not turning up empty-handed.'

'She is getting the biggest gift this year. Both her kids will be with her, what more does she need?'

'A thanksgiving gift from them,' I guessed.

He laughed. 'I don't remember her mentioning something,' he said.

I gave Sasha thumbs up for the sweater she walked wearing out of the changing room. She smiled and went in to try the other sweaters too.

'That's the problem, I don't either.' I sighed, 'daddy, do something. Ask her out going round and round.'

'I can give it a try.'

'Thank you!'

And then we hung up. Sasha walked out of the dressing room with four cream sweaters and said, 'I think I should buy them in four different colours.'

'Same? For all your sisters?'

She shrugged. 'Lessens the stress.'

I smiled at her shaking my head. We headed towards the accessories section and it smelled of perfumes; different kind of fragrances lingered in the air. I walked over to the watches section to buy my father one.

'Chastity?'

I stopped at the very familiar voice but I couldn't put a finger to the name. Slowly I turned around and the mist was lifted right away. I grinned widely when I saw the curly haired boy advance towards me with the widest grin ever. I was slightly taken aback when he engulfed me in a bear hug crushing my bones literally.

'Blake, you're squeezing the air out of me,' I stated, slightly out of breath.

He chuckled and released me. 'How are you?'

'Slightly astonished and out of breath,' I said making him chuckle. 'But I am well and alive otherwise.'

'I am guessing you never imagined to meet me here?'

'I also didn't imagine you remembering me either,' I said shrugging. 'But then there's that too.'

His smile fell instantly. 'How can anyone forget you? It'd be a shame if they do.' I blushed at his words. 'We had been quite busy with the conferences and all. I wanted to catch up once but then I slept on it and forgot the next day.'

'Hey, it's alright, yeah?' I said as soon as I realised he was guilty over nothing. Just then I saw Arthur strolling through looking here and there. A second later a girl caught up with him and held his arm saying something to him. He replied with a shrug. For over three weeks I did hear their songs and read some news about the boys but I didn't read it anywhere that the fake girlfriend was already put to business.

'So, Arthur got his fake girlfriend out to shop?'I asked Blake.

He turned his head and finally saw them at a distance. The girl was almost as tall as Arthur. Or not, it was just the heels. But she was skinny and blonde with a nice tan. All in all, she was beautiful. She must've been a model.

'Oh, yeah,' Blake said, still looking at them. The girl and Arthur seemed to be looking around for something; or someone. 'Oi! 'I heard Blake yell, catching their attention and waving his hand at them.

The girl mumbled something to Arthur with a smile and walking in our direction. I grinned at Arthur as soon as our eyes met.

'She looks like a model,' I whispered to Blake.

He chuckled. 'And she is one; all plastic and brainless.'

I laughed rolling my eyes. 'My cousin is a model too. And she is all skin and brains.'

His eyes lit up. 'Can I have her?'

I laughed. 'Tough luck, she is taken.'

'Chastity,' Arthur breathed with a grin on his face.

'Hi, Arthur,' I said, waving my hand at him. 'On a shopping spree I see.'

'Diana this is Chastity,' Arthur went on. The girl grinned in my direction. Arthur added, 'A very good friend of ours.'

'Hi,' I said shaking her hand. Her thousand bangles clanked against each other.

'Well, yes you got that right,' Arthur replied to my previously asked question. And the rolled his eyes adding, 'Marcus.'

I winced at the name. 'Still alive, I see.'

'The devil never dies,' Blake added.

I laughed.

'Are you alone? We can have lunch together and catch up on stuff?' Arthur suggested and Blake agreed with him, 'That's a lovely idea, Arth.'

'Actually, I have a company. You remember Sasha?'

'The fangirl,' Blake guessed.

I laughed. 'You do. We were just shopping for thanksgiving presents,' I told them.

'That's great, really,' Arthur said, grinning. 'But I see your hands empty.'

'That's because I haven't bought anything yet,' I confessed. 'I was going to buy a watch for my father,' I said pointing towards the counter of watches and added, 'before I met Blake.'

'We can wait,' Blake said. 'And we don't mind Sasha joining. Where is she, anyway?'

I looked around, scratching my forehead. 'She was here, somewhere.'

'Come on lets buy you a watch,' Blake said grabbing my hand and dragging me to the counter. I laughed and followed.

'Where are Noah and Nolan?' I asked. 'Haven't seen them for quite long,' I added.

'Well, you just gave me the best idea ever,' he said. 'I am just going to call them and invite them over for lunch. You will meet them too and they will be surprised.'

I laughed and releasing my hand Blake pulled out his phone. I stood at the counter scanning every watch in the display, while Blake was busy talking to the Weiz twins over the phone. To be honest the ones I liked for dad were very expensive and the watches I didn't like at all were the ones in my budget. And since dad and I were quite alike, I knew he wouldn't like them either but he'd have to take it anyway because I had gifted him that. And I certainly didn't like that.

I began nibbling on my thumb. Why was I looking at Rolexes anyway? It wasn't like I was even going to buy them without a proper job. I had to buy presents for five other people.

'Anything interested you yet?' Arthur asked walking up behind me.

'Nothing here unless they decide to cut down on prices,' I said.

He sniggered dropping his head. I saw it then, he was dressed exceptionally well in an electric green shirt with buttoned up white collar, a heavy black coat with a fur collar, a pair of camel coloured trousers with the shirt tucked in. The boy had some really good taste. I liked his Vans shoes the most. They were a shade darker than his trousers, slightly close to caramel.

'Select the piece,' he said, grinning flirtatiously. 'I'll pay.' He winked.

I raised my brows at him. 'I guess I should give you the list then, Mr. Crawford.'

He chuckled softly. 'Sure.'

I shook my head smiling. 'I think I am going to check out Casio.'

'Hey, Chastity, come on,' he groaned, like a little kid. 'I want to help.'

I narrowed my eyes at him as an idea hit my head. 'You really want to help, yeah?'

He nodded earnestly with a smile.

I smiled back but deviously. 'Ok.'
