Chapter 1

5 years after the attack on my home.

I walked through the streets of the village called the Scorpion Den.

After my brother and I escaped from the attack, we wandered for a week. And suddenly wondered up to the Sandwing kingdom. We scavenged around in the desert, hoping to find food.

We ended up at the Scorpion Den. We were taking in and welcomed by Spike, the Sandwing that is in charge of it while his Grandmother Sunny is queen of the Sandwings.

We are part of them now. We steal for food, and we don't really have any friends except for Sandstorm. Another hybrid like us, he has very large but muscular, he is kind to us, he is a mix of a Seawing, and a Sandwing. Also, he is related to Sunny.

We go to school there too. After a school called Jade mountain was destroyed, schools were established all over even in the Scorpion den. Plasma and I go to school there, but mostly just for battle training, for vengeance.

We, well mostly I have sworn vengeance to the Nightwings that killed our parents, and to all Nightwings. Soon I will be able  to destroy the Nightwings, I will build a Kingdom, create a new tribe, and make myself their King. ANd then I shall destroy every, last Ngihtwing.

Till they are extinct.

I walked up the steps to the school that I told you about. It is called after a  gem called sulfur, a yellow gem. Plasma came running to my side holding his scrolls. " Here, Thunder, you forgot your school scrolls." He handed me my scrolls, but I didn't take them. I rolled my eyes at him and I stepped forward and oppened the large doors to the school. " Thunder, come on take them, I don't want to hold them the whole way." Again, I didn't answer.

I oppened the other door and became face to face with a Sandwing.

"Hey Thunder! What took ya so long?!"  I grumbled, " hey Sandstorm, why are you here so early.?"

" Oh you know me, always wanted to learn." He said with a grin. Which, was not true, he hated learning, unlike his grandmother, he was into fighting, and wasn't very nice one to the teachers. The reason why he got so along with PLasma and I, was that his parents were also killed by the same Nightwing who killed my parents.

He lived in a Sandwing settlement near the Mudwing border, when the Nightwings came. They killed everyone that lived there, then burned the whole place to the ground. But Sandstorm was the only survivor. His Mother was Sunny's daughter.

Sandstorm only knew one other place, the Scorpion Den. Sunny took him in gladly. But she had to get back to being queen, so he is under protection of Spike, Sunny's son. Which doesn't really like Sandstorm at all.

" You and I both know tha's not true." I said. " I do." Plasma said.

Sandstorm and I both ignored him. " Ah you got me," Sandstorm gave in, " what I am really here for, is that I thought that we should steal the food from the  cafeteria ."  " Uhh, not such a good idea the teachers will catch us."

"Nope,"

"Nope?!?! WHat do you mean!?"

"They aren't here."

"WHat did you do!?"

"Absolutely nothing."

"What do you mean!?"

" I MEAN THEY AREN'T IN THE SCHOOL DIMWIT!" Sandstorm growled.

" Oh, I guess they're late." Plasma stammered. " Oh really? Noooo I thought they became invisible. Of course they're late, they hate teaching." Sandstorm said.

"Then let's get a move on." I said.

Plasma and I stepped in the Sandstone school, and into a room where battle training is taught. Plasma struggled to keep the scrolls in his arm while we were heading in. "Just drop them, and come on." I told him.

Plasma glared at me and reluctantly placed the by entrance. " Ok, " Standstorm said, "let's go." Sandstorm swiftly raced to the cafeteria door right at the end of the battle training room. I was right behind him, while Plasma awkwardly followed behind me.

Sandstorm oppened the door and looked inside. " I thought you said that there were no teachers." I questioned.

" I-I I'm just making sure." He stammered. I squinted at him suspiciously. I stepped infront of Sandstorm and I lead them. I raced around the tables and into the kitchen. I stepped to the corner of the kitchen and oppened the trap door where the food was stored underground.

Suddenly my mind went to when my mother put me and my brother in the escape tunnel, and I gasped. "What is it?" Sandstorm asked. I shook my head around. "No, it's nothing." And immediately I swooped down into the hole.

I was very cool down in it, I got shivers.

I looked around and couldn't see a thing 2 feet infront of me.

Suddenly, I got a big headache. "Gahh!" I bowed my head in pain and I held my head and clossed my eyes.

The pain stopped suddenly and I opened my eyes. And I could see. "Woah." I said. Sandstorm rushed over to me. " Are you done with your little tantrum little baby?"  I pushed him away. Uh can you see this?" I asked. There was no color, except white and black, but I could see everything.

"No I can't see anything." Sandstorm replied. " Me either." Plasma replied. Sandstorm turned his head and walked over to a table like he could see in the dark, and lit an oil lantern. ANd suddenly my eyesight went back to normal.

"Thunder? Are you ok? What happened?" Plasma asked. I shook my head. " No, no I'm fine. Let's get the food and go."

Sandstorm went wild. He grabbed everything he saw. He pulled out a bag that  Thunder never saw him have. Sandstorm looked at me and Plasma. " Yo gonna get some food?" THat snapped me out of it.

Plasma stepped back. " Uh I don't want to steal." Thunder frowned at him. " You steal all the time Plasma."

"Ya but I don't want to steal from the school!"

"All right, fine by me go starve to death."

Plasma glared at me. "I'll just go keep watch."

"Fine go."

Plasma jumped out and through the trap door.

I glanced at Sandstorm. " He's so annoying." I told him.

"Really? I didn't notice."

I sighed and grabbed as much food as I could, eating some food also as I did.

My brother is an idiot. He thinks he's soooooo cool being friends and joking around with Sandstorm. Their so stupid. I wish they could except who I am and not make fun of me in the process. They don't want to learn things they need like about the continent. Or about other tribes history or anything. All they care about is fighting.

All Thunder cares about is getting his vengeance on the Nightwings. Don't get me wrong I hate those Nightwings, I think their evil. But I think living is more important.

I paced around waiting for Thunder and Sandstorm to hurry up their stealing, thinking, when I heard the door to the entrance open and close. Panic spread throughout me. I ran to the trap door and stuck my head through the hole and faced Thunder.

"Haha you look stupid." Thunder said.

"Shut up, their here! There Heeerrre!"

Thunder screwed his face up in confusion and took a bite of a dried lizard.

"Who?"

"THe teachers stupid!" I whispered loudly.

"Sandstorm! They're here! We need to get out." Thunder told Sandstorm.

At first there, I panicked. In my mind theories and escape plans flashed through my head in the speed of light. Over the 5 years of being at the Scorpion Den Plasma and I have, specialized being robbers.

Having our Mother being Rainwing, we have the camouflage power. We use that for us to steal food for us.

"Plasma!" I called.

"Yea?"

"Let's use our camouflage."

Plasma grinned mischievously. "Good idea."

Plasma's scales turned invisible as they changed to his surroundings.

I turned to Sandstorm. "Just follow me if you can, if they catch you, just say you were getting ready for school early or something." Sandstorm nodded in agreement.

I too turned my scales to my surroundings. "What about the food bag?" Sandstorm asked.

I thought, " How about just say they are your scrolls." I replied.

I swiftly leaped out of the hole and looked around. Nobody was there. I changed my hand to my regular color, and I waved Sandstorm over. He immediately came to my side.

Over by the doorway out of the cafeteria, I saw a ripple in the air. I could tell it was Plasma.

I wish he could always be like this. He's always brave, but when he's not he's so annoying. I raced to the doorway and I saw Plasma's head turn back to normal color. Sandstorm saw his head and stepped to us.

he changed back, and I poked my head out and looked both ways. No one. " The coast is clear," I said. I walked into the battle room, keeping my hand my normal color, Sandstorm followed and went in front of me. He sniffed and exhaled sharply.

He stealthily ran to the door out of the school silently, and I followed. We exited the school and into the hot outside. We hurried down the stairs. Making sure no one was near, I turned my scales back to normal color.

"Nice," Sandstorm said, "we made it without being caught, a personal best if I do say so myself." He said proudly.

I smirked and sighed. "Good job Plasma, but you can turn back to normal now."

No answer.

"Plasma?" I asked. Still no answer. I raced up to the stairs and opened the school's door only a crack, and put my head up to it and looked. I saw Plasma grabbing all of his scrolls without his camouflage.

"Plasma!" I said. He looked up and fumbled with his scrolls and raced to me.

"Who's there!?!" Boomed a voice. I motioned my hand rapidly to indicate Plasma to hurry.  Plasma finally got hold of all of his scrolls and ran to me I quickly opened and closed the doors as Plasma came out of the school.

We ran down the steps to Sandstorm and we hid behind a sandstone wall that used to be a wall that used to belong to a building that collapsed a year ago.

The school door opened and a large Sandwing head poked out. It was Cactus, the battle instructor. he turned his head right and left glaring. he grumbled when he didn't see anyone and he shut the doors.

Sandstorm started giggling. I chuckled and asked, " what's so funny?"

"Oh no, nothing. Just laughing of relief." He gave it one last chuckle and stopped when there were footsteps.
