Jack was barking out orders as we ran up the stairs back to the main house. Damon and Adonis quickly locked and sealed the basement behind us, cloaking its entrance with an illusion of stone bricks that matched the walls around it. We heard the other kues yelling to each other from outside and the deafening boom of giant de'mujos banging against the barriers around the compound.

"They're going to break through, everyone get ready!" Byron roared and my heart stuttered in my chest, anxiety rushing through me. Am I really capable of fighting an actual de'mujo?

The thought quickly vanished from my mind as Darius wrapped his arm around my waist and we were flying through the air towards the top of a tree nestled between the middle of the barrier and the centre of the compound.

"It's a real fine time to ask yourself that question, litani." Darius growled as we crouched low in the tree like the other kues around us.

Well it's not like I've fought one before! I growled back but a blush burned over my cheeks a laugh itching to leave my lips. He looked at me and rolled his eyes, shaking his head.

You beat *me*, Jazmine. You can kill a fucking de'mujo.

I bet I can kill more than you. I grinned and he bit his lip to stop from laughing his eyes sparkling playfully.

I'll take that bet, but if I win, you have to bond with me. He grinned and my eyes grew wide. That Maka fak! I can't believe he would bet our bonding on this!

As if I'd let you bind my soul on a *bet*. You're going to lose, dejaino. I huffed glaring at him holding out my hand to him.

Oh I hope so, evela me, He sighed taking my hand, evela'tu ma'sun lefo, litani. He smiled bringing my fingers to his lips, kissing them softly.

Evela'tu, evela me. En ti lefo, na ti nua. I whispered squeezing his hand tight. He grinned nodding his head looking towards the weakening barrier.

You better keep up, Jaz. I like to keep a high kill count. He laughed as we heard an enormous roar break out around us as the barrier gave an angry moan giving way to the crushing pressure of the giants' angry blows.

I love a challenge, lunto. I growled digging my nails into the tree readying myself to attack the oncoming de'mujos.

The de'mujos cackled and screamed as they raced through the forest towards the compound. I growled low as I watched the disfigured beings tear through the trees waiting for the signal to attack. I looked at Darius and my heart thudded in my chest at the menacing look in his sexy black eyes. I can't believe I am turned on right now! Ja'diem Jazmine!

Focus, Jaz. He growled but his lips curling into a grin gave him away. He's just as turned on as me.

You too, Darius. I chuckled as we heard a high pitched whistle ring through the trees. The kues perched in the branches gave a roaring cry as we jumped from the trees slashing through the de'mujos below us.

I grinned pulling roots up from the ground wrapping them around the thrashing demons choking and ripping their limbs apart. I laughed skipping through the hoards fire shooting from my fingertips as I cleared a path to the field corralling the de'mujos to the centre where we wanted them.

That's seventy five dejaino, you've only killed *three*. You better catch up. I laughed, turning to look at his amused face as the other kues shrugged their shoulders dispersing around the compound to help the others.

I will, litani. You just keep that kill count higher than mine. He grinned disappearing and a wave of fire erupted around the field de'mujos cackled and screamed as they burned up in his fire.

105, sesti. What are you waiting for? He laughed and I growled wind and ice bursting around me as I charged through the hoard breaking through the hoard pooling in the middle of the field.

Darius and I ripped through the de'mujos calling out our kill count to each other. He knows I'll never bond with him if he wins this bet, he's making it a game to keep me from being scared of this. I laughed to myself as I slashed through the throat of a demon, its blood splatter over my face. Silly, dejaino. I'm not afraid of this anymore, but I will still beat him.

I roared driving my fist into a de'mujo's chest ripping through its heart with a piercing root. I jumped into the air, letting a wave of fire burst from my fingertips searing the beasts around me in flames.

Three forty two, litano. I grinned dropping back to the ground and staggered as the footsteps of the giants shook the ground, the trees bent under their weight as they pushed through the forest.

"Now!" Jack roared as inky balls of hot black tar raced through the sky crashing into the giants' greyed skin.

They roared thrashing out in front of them, tearing at their melting skin as they tumbled to the ground. I heard a deep guttural growl erupt from behind me as a giant came barrelling through the clearing straight towards me.

"Jazmine behind you!" Darius roared his panicked voice booming across the field. I turned around and grinned, this will be payback, I growled charging towards the beast.

Jazmine what the fuck are you doing?! Darius roared but I ignored him, air burst around my body as I ran up the giants leg dodging its swiping claws. I formed a tight weave of roots and fire around my arm. I let out a roar and drove my fist into the beasts chest.

It roared and cried in pain as the root and fire melted a hole through its chest. I landed gracefully behind it wiping my hands as it felt to the ground in a thud.

Giants count double right? I laughed turning around and my heart clenched in my chest.

Darius was staring at me, shock, worry and guilt radiating in his eyes. Iridescent weaves of energy pulsed around his neck, chaining him and the rest of the kues to the ground. The de'mujos cackled in joy as another hoard of them burst through the trees. They ignored me as they raced towards the kues, eager to sink their teeth in their ready made meal.

"Jazmine Run!" Get out of here! Darius roared trying to fight through the chains holding him to the earth.

"NO!" I screamed my body igniting in burst of radiant energy. I am not leaving him, I'm not leaving any of them. I will stop this.

I'm not leaving you. I growled letting my power envelope me. I burst in the centre of the field and waved my arms out from me sending a concentrated blast of iridescent energy around me throwing the de'mujos back into the trees protecting the kues around me.

My power subsided around me and I turned around dropping to my knees, grasping the pushing chain against Darius' neck. I can't get it to come off. The damn chain just absorbs my energy. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I tugged at the chain, ignoring Darius' plea for me to stop.

"No, I have-I have to get this off of you, I'm not leaving you here! Rekeseaus don't lose." I cried as he pressed his forehead against mine.

Jazmine, please. Run, this is Gaia's power I don't know why she's holding us but you need to get out of here. Now! He growled his grey eyes filling with tears, using his shoulder to push me away from him.

"Jazmine get out of here!" Jack roared from behind us as he struggled against the weaves holding him down.

"Darius, I can't..." I cried and felt the hairs on the back of my neck rise, my teeth elongated to fangs and I hissed turning around to see my father's hugely grotesque form descend from the sky, holding my mother by the back of her head an inky black chain wrapped around her neck.

"Hello, m've elaeti." Sol grinned as he settled to the ground, his lips in a wide grin, his dark crimson eyes sparkling in satisfaction while my mother cried next to him.
