So first of all, if you really want to pursue editing you need to familiarize your self with a few basic things and technical facts. I suppose most of you already know this but I'm just going to put this here for those who are still new to this.

File type:

I will only be putting the suffix because come on i know you don't want to memorize really long stuffs.

Raster based: these are the file types that are pixel based and often looses quality when compressed or uploaded in sites where they force to make the quality lower to save data and memory.

examples:

· .jpeg – raster images that reads and fills even the blank layers in an image.

· .png- raster images unlike .jpeg, it only recognizes the part of the image that contains picture elements (pixels)

· .gif- raster file that displays series of frames to create a short animation

· .bmp – bitmap images are like pngs but they are relatively smaller in memory size. Commonly used for thumbnails and in online sites to save space. Not advisable to be used a raw resource for you edits.

Vector Based: file types that are based on paths, mathematical equations and line graphs. These files will not diminish in quality no matter how many times it has been compressed and re-uploaded. Most of them are also very compatible for editing in various user workstation.

examples:

· psd – short for photoshop document. Lossless files that contains original layers and edit history compatible for future editing.

· .ai- illustration document. Lossless file similar to psd but was primarily made in Adobe Illustrator. Compatible be used and converted in various softwares and even in PDF form.

· .drw – drawing document. Vector based file of digital art and sketches and compatible for future editing.

Dimensions: these are my personal preference for image proportions in pixels.

Cover: 512 by 800 

Header: 1920 by 600

Thin Banner Strip: 1920 by 300

Icon: 900 by 900

Tips: 

📌Make sure your resources are high quality.

📌Always look at the dimension by width. Only download 400 px and up below that are too small and damage the photo when you enlarge it.

📌Do not use over saturated and over exposed photos. It will make editing and adding effects and coloring difficult and time consuming.
