{=Chapter 3=}

The stony silence that greeted Frisk as she stepped into the normally bustling Snowdin Town was unnerving. She was used to monsters dashing around happily, humming joyful tunes, and going in and out of Grillby's. Now, there was nothing.

Frisk didn't know why she didn't expect it. She had been on a killing rampage and she should have known that the residents of the town would have heard about it and fled. But somehow she didn't.

Frisk looked up as she passed the Shop and the Inn. The large signs hanging above the doors shifted slightly in the breeze. Maybe I can find something useful in the store.. Frisk thought grudgingly. It felt wrong to steal from there, but she might as well accept defeat. She'd killed so many monsters, what's the difference if she steals a few Bisicles?

Frisk pushed open the door to the Shop and a small bell dinged above her. She shivered uneasily and climbed over the counters to snatch a few Bisicles, plus the Manly Bandanna hanging near a shelf. Out of the corner of her eye, Frisk noticed a note. She reached down and picked it up, smoothing it against the countertop.

Please don't hurt my family...

-----

Snow crunched under Frisk's feet as she walked along the small clearing outlined by pine trees. The river not too far away splashed gently and calmly, but did nothing to settle Frisk's nerves. She didn't want to do this, she really really did not want to do this.

A feeling of dread filled Frisk as she looked up to see him standing there. He had a big dorky grin plastered onto his face and his tattered scarf waved slightly in the wind.

"Halt! Human! I, the GREAT Papyrus, have some things to say!" Papyrus proclaimed triumphantly.

"First: You're a freaking WEIRDO! Not only do you dislike puzzles... But the way you shamble about, the way your hands are always covered in dusty powder..." Papyrus trailed off. "It.. It feels like your life is going down a very dangerous path." Frisk shifted uncomfortably.

"However! I, Papyrus, see potential within you! Everyone can be a great person if they at least try! Me? I hardly have to try at all! Nyeh heh heh!" Frisk shuffled forward, trying to just get it over with, she hated that he talked so much when he was going to die, even though she really didn't want to kill him. She didn't want to, but she had to.

"HEY! Quit moving! This is what I'm saying! I think... I think you need guidance! But worry not! I, Papyrus, will gladly be your friend and tutor! I'll turn your life right around!!!" Frisk stepped closer to Papyrus and he held out his arms happily.

"I see you are approaching! Are you coming for a hug of acceptance! Wowwie! My lessons are already working! I, Papyrus, welcome you with open arms!"

* Papyrus is sparing you.

Frisk stepped forward, arm trembling as she pointed her dagger at Papyrus. His grin faltered for a second but he stopped himself and continued beaming at Frisk.

Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something.. someone...

Someone was watching her. Frisk squinted past Papyrus.

Wait a second! I.. It can't be.. Sans..? What is he doing here?!

Frisk's gaze darted from Sans to Papyrus to Sans and back again. Nononono, this can't be happening it's not happening I'm dreaming why can't he leave I have to do this doesn't he understand?

* You felt your sins crawling up your back...

She couldn't take it any more. Frisk dropped to the ground and began sobbing; heaving, gasping, from the gut sobs that wouldn't end. The knife slipped out of her hand and embedded itself deep into the snow near her. She felt nothing but the sobs, endless crying, pain, torture, guilt.

Frisk could vaguely hear Papyrus shifting in front of her and dropping his arms to his side.

"W-well.. That was unexpected......... Wait, I know! You must be in awe of my utter and indescribable GREATNESS!" Frisk could practically feel the pride radiating off of Papyrus. He had made someone so emotional they couldn't help but crying!

Frisk glanced up, tears clouding her vision. She stood up shakily and stumbled towards Papyrus, wrapping her arms around him and sniffling. He reached down under her arms and lifted her over his shoulder.

"There, there, human. I know it must be a great shock to come across someone as awesome as me, but there's no need to get this upset over it!" Papyrus said.

Frisk looked over Papyrus' shoulder, and sure enough, there was Sans. His face was a mix of shock, confusion, and mostly relief. It was no wonder why, though. He had thought his brother, the only thing he lived for, would die.

Sans' gaze met Frisk's and lingered there for a long moment, eyes blank. Then he turned, and with a puff of air and a shimmer, he was gone.

"Come on, human, let's go see my brother! He'll be so happy to know I changed your mind!" Papyrus said gleefully.

But Frisk, on the other hand.. she wasn't quite so prepared.

* You are filled with dread.

Haiwo! It's me again! I updated super fast this time I'm proud of myself >w<

Weird update time, I know, but I couldn't sleep so don't blame me lol. Anyways, I really hope you liked this chapter! This was exciting for me to write, I like action the best. From now on the story won't have any more direct Undertale quotes nearly as often. It'll be majority of my own ideas, which I'm pretty hyped about.

Also a quick shoutout to FinnTheDolphin. She has really made me super happy with all her nice comments about this book! She's the one who gave me the inspiration to write this so soon! (So if you want more faster, just bug me lol)

Once again, thanks everyone for reading! Byeee!
