Chapter 17
"I can't wait to beat this space robot into a pulp. It's gonna look like a dented tin can when I'm through with it," Chloe snarled. She was busy punching a bag on the wall, getting ready for the fight coming up. The others watched her in silence. Clearing his throat with a cough, Ozone quietly pointed out, "Chloe, I hate to tell you this but there's no way you're fighting anyone in your condition."
"What's that supposed to mean? You calling me fat?!" Chloe hissed, glaring at Ozone. Everyone quickly found something else to look at, doing their best to not look at the cat-like monster. After years of being in prison and a habit of stress eating, Chloe had gained some weight. She didn't have the body of a fighter, long story short.
"There's just one robot, right?" Daisy asked Rooster. The general nodded his head in reply. Nodding his head as well, President Mel chimed into the conversation, "Nasty one too. It tried to kill me earlier this morning!" Daisy gulped nervously. By the sounds of it, this alien robot was a danger to anyone it met. Then she remembered. She was fifty feet tall and she was surrounded by people who knew what they were doing. This was gonna be a walk in the park.
"Does anyone have an actual plan for what we're gonna do? And don't just say beat the robot into a pulp," Tiberius piped up, directing the last part towards Chloe. Lounging across several boxes on the plane, Snowball looked like he was melting as he mumbled, "Are we there yet? I don't like flying... it makes me sick..."
"Good news, we're here," Rooster declared. Not even a second after he said that, the plane touched down. Everything and everyone shook in response. The doors opened up and a ramp dropped down. While Mel stayed inside the plane, Rooster led the way out on his motorcycle. "Let's go monsters!" he called. Glancing at each other, the monsters followed him. Looking around at her surroundings, Daisy gasped and exclaimed, "This is Manhattan! We're not too far from my home!"
"I was only twenty one years old when I last walked these streets..." Chloe recalled wistfully, looking around. Scratching his chin, Ozone purred, "I've always dreamed about coming here. And now here I am, standing in the Big Apple." Having been throwing up, Snowball returned to the group. Breathing in the fresh air, the shapeshifting blob mumbled, "It's been so long since I've been outside."
"Eh, I remember a time when these flying rats actually tasted good..." Tiberius muttered irritably, having just finished eating a seagull.
"Focus, this isn't your lunch break," Rooster pointed out. The general faced the rest of the monsters as he continued, "Remember, you are to stop this robot. Then you can all go free, just as promised." Before he could say more, everyone heard a loud splashing sound. Without saying a word, they all looked to the south.
A giant alien robot monkey was coming right towards them and the city.
