Part One

ChronaLilly

I'm not sure who else to tag, but I figured dear ol draggy could tell me who.

I can't remember much, the happenings of so many moons, my memory fades... Becomes a blur... The flashes I remember unconnected, without meaning, but yet fitting together like puzzle pieces.

My brain seems to flinch away from the memories, terrified of the ones that make my heart ache.
I remember being a kit, the blurred images and scents of my mother and littermates fading fast, Their screams as they are torn apart by rogues more vivid.
My body jerks, trying to wake me, as it usually does. Only now do I realize I'm dreaming, and skip past it. Time blurs once more, I skip past the agony of kitthood. I don't remember coming to dragonclan, more do the memories remain of becoming an apprentice. I just know that it was many lifetimes ago. The clan had seen four leaders, Tidestar being the last, sense I became an apprentice. The longest living apprintice, I don't think any cat noticed... Until the other Glitches came. Wildstar is my fifth leader, and I can't help but think that she may be my last. I DO remember when I became a glitch. The first one. My mind instantly yanks me back in time, a swirl of images, scents, and sounds until they settle together to form vivid memories, the only vivid memory I have of the past.
I wake up, the scent of decay strong in my nose. This place I've awaken is darker than the dark forest, for at least in the dark forest, it is lit by the sickly glow of fungus. Here, the only light came from an almost brilliant glow of my own fur. My pale cream fur glowed, as if the moon shine from under my pelt, giving proof to my name, moonpaw.
My thoughts were cut short by the rancid stench of crowfood, and I gasp, turning around. A fox sat behind me, his mangy fur patched and oily.
His lips pull back into a Cheshire cat smile, his dagger like teeth gleaming in the light from my fur.
"Hello, young one." His voice was rough, and the sound of it made my fur crawl. I nodded warily, never having heard a fox talk like a cat.
"I've have an offer to you." He grinned again, making me shine inside my skin, but curiosity overcame my fear.
"What is it?" I ask, my mew trembled slightly, and I cleared my throat.
"What is it you want more than anything? Anything at all?" He padded closer, his eyes gleaming in the light from my fur, but his russet mats seemed to suck in the light, as if it were a void, unfillable and unending.
"I... I want..." My voice fails me, and images race through my mind, of my family being torn to bits, rogue cats' eyes gleaming as they spilt the blood of innocent kits onto the unforgiving ground. "I want never to be killed... By any cat."
His eyes seemed to glow as he growls softly. It sounds like a chuckle, and the sound makes my fur feel hot, as if I were just blasted by a hot wind. "That, I can do. You will never age, never die, never be killed. Is this what you wish?"
"I... Yes. That's what I wish." I didn't know at the time what he was doing, and I regretted my wish the instant I realized I was going to have kits.
Suddenly, the fox lunged forward, fastening his teeth into my chest. I cried out, shocked, the feel of his teeth set my skin crawling and my insides feel as if I would die, the agony rippling through my fur felt like a thousand teeth, a million claws, all ripping into me. My body jerked, and spasmed. My paws flailed, and I felt a claw Peirce his eye, causing him to jerk back with a gasp. I flopped onto the ground, the glow from my fur added, until only my chest glowed.
"You stupid fur ball!" The fox snarled, his teeth gleaming, his eye missing from its socket. "You defy me? I only have part of your soul! In return, you can be killed, slowly and painfully. But not by cat claws, or snapping jaws. You will drown, or die of falling branches! You don't deserve a warriors death." Snarling, the fox stalked off, leaving a putrid stream of oily black blood from his lost eye, which gazed up at me with enough malice to stop my heart.
