Moonclaw had always wanted to be leader, but she'd assumed that the previous leader would just retire to the elder's den. Not be murdered.

It was hard to appoint a deputy! She didn't trust Hazelstalk, Lightpaw was just an apprentice (And a medicine cat apprentice. Gullstep was too young. Finally, she decided on Sunstreak. She clambered down to the Highwood. It felt rough and odd beneath her paws. 

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here below the Highwood for a Clan meeting!"

Obediently, all the cats gathered. 

"We have two apprentices worthy of becoming warriors. Rainpaw and Foxpaw, please step forward."

Rainpaw took a step.

"Warriors of StarClan, I offer you these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and will give their lives defending it."

"We will."

"Then from this moment on, Rainpaw shall be known as Raintail. StarClan admires your strength and loyalty, and we are honored to welcome you as a full warrior of SeaClan. Foxpaw shall be known as Foxpelt. StarClan admires your curiosity and honesty, and we are honored to welcome you as a full warrior of SeaClan."

The cats below began to call Foxpelt and Raintail's name. Moonclaw let them celebrate for a moment, then said, 

"And we have a slightly more pressing matter. We need a deputy. And it is Moonhigh right now."

The cats whispered among themselves about who would be the next deputy.

"I say these words at Moonhigh, so that my warrior ancestors can hear and approve my choice. The next deputy of SeaClan is Sunstreak. And also, the Gathering is tomorrow night. The cats that will come with me are; Sunstreak, Raintail, Lightpaw, Gullstep, Beetlestorm, Foxpaw, and Kelpjump."
