INTRODUCTION.
Eridanus Lestrange was named after a river of which was tainted by the blood of a god offspring named Phaethon who couldn't grasp control and was struck down by Zeus who couldn't care in the least for his well-being.
Eridanus always speculated if he was named intentionally.
His second cousin, Sirius Black, was named after the brightest star in the sky in hopes that he would become the brightest Black in the bloodline. Sirius did so, but with a different perspective of what his parents forced upon his naïve mind during his younger years. In the end, he definitely outshone the bloodline when he caused them to become blind in anger at his disgraceful attitude towards the generations of expected adequate behaviour a Black must represent.
Was he aware that later on in his youth that he would live up to his name origin of being the brightest?
The brightest in the bloodline which thrived in wickedness.
Did Andromeda Tonks, his aunt, know that she'd be saved by her own Perseus who took the form of a Muggle-born? The man who saved her from her mother's boastful behaviour in which she took the consequences for?
Eridanus pondered if his name origin would match up to his latter life just like his second cousin and aunt. Would he be infected by the blood of innocent men who perished to a man whose status was higher yet his empathy lower?
Eridanus had pondered long enough. Indeed it seemed as if his name was fit exactly for him. He found innocent blood staining his hands, poisoning him. Phaethon was the innocent blood and Voldemort was Zeus. The river was his veins and the lack of control was his downfall.
He knew his hands weren't clean; perhaps they would never be. His blood perhaps, the blood that became worshipped all due to him blindly following in the footsteps of his parents and retaining his purity as a pureblood wizard.
He wasn't a hero despite him kissing away death; he was a villain for allowing his selfish desires to overpower rationality. He played death on a fraying rope, life being the weight at the end swinging dangerously.
Eridanus would lay awake at night, waiting. His happiness diminishes as he feels the pain of knowing what exactly is happening to him. The flashes, the screams, the innocent, the betrayal, the pleads, the guilt- he witnesses it all. No one understood that he couldn't make anyone understand what was happening inside his mind and how a guilty conscience was better than no consideration.
No one understood that he could potentially carry their happiness on his shoulders, with a quick word he could renew happiness in them again or leave them wallow in grief.
No one understood that this wasn't a blessing, this was a curse. No one understood that this didn't make you wisely powerful; this only taunted the greed for crude power. No one understood that continuously cheating death wasn't remarkable it was horrifying, but then yet again no one understood Eridanus like he did.
The boy with incredulous emerald eyes hidden behind thick-rimmed glasses with a scar that had a story of his own.
Eridanus Lestrange being the prologue and the finale.
