Chapter 24
Then I realised, he leaned in, even closer.
My heart tightens everytime I felt his breath against my face. Part of me wanted to push him off, but at the same time I wanted to just stay in that position forever. I'm enjoying this a little bit too much, aren't I?
I couldn't help but stare down at his luscious lips, waiting to meet mine. To go, or not to go for it - I couldn't think straight, and only time could decide.
So I just stayed frozen, my hands still clenching the edge of the bed. Taehyung was still over me, and he was just raising an eyebrow while looking down at me, waiting for my answer.
Knock, knock.
Darn, something just always had to ruin the moment.
Taehyung rolled his eyes, pushing himself off me and rushing out of the room to get to the door.
Whilst he was out of my sight, I took the time to catch my breath and process every single that just happened seconds ago. He knows how to make me insane, and then claims he did it for the sake of humour.
I gulped, sitting up then pushing myself off the bed to stand up. My legs were still trembling as I took steps towards the door, peeping outside. I saw Taehyung welcoming the men who were supposed to bring in our furnitures.
Honestly they could only bring in our couch and the boxes of our belongings, then left - leaving me and Taehyung alone again in the house. The fact that the apartment was small made me feel more uncomfortable because I had no personal space to hide away from Taehyung.
It only meant that I'd be facing him most of the time when we're home.
I quickly hid in the bedroom, sitting on the bed before Taehyung could.
I heard footsteps coming towards the room I was in. "Wanna go out?" he asked a simple question but it made my heart raced, probably because of what he did earlier.
"To where?" I asked him.
"To eat," he answered, leaning against the door frame, "You're paying."
He's still the same old Taehyung who makes me pay for every meal we're having together.
"I'll pay for your meal, I'll get the room," I tried to make a deal, but he didn't seem to be pleased.
He sighed, walking towards me, "Let's split the room to half."
"But the bed..."
"I'll sleep at the living room okay, you can sleep on the bed. But the space in the closet, on the shelf, and in the drawer, has to be split. I've got to keep my lion stuffed toys," he explained.
"You'll sleep in the living room?" My eyes lit up, "Woah it's rare to hear you sounding like a gentleman."
"I'm changing my mind."
"Okay okay fine, thanks," I grinned at him.
"Let's unpack our stuffs first, then we'll head out for lunch," he said, and I nodded.
We both brought in the boxes into the room, and started unpacking them, arranging the stuffs on the compartments available. In between, we were kinda arguing for space, and most of the time, Taehyung won.
I was putting my clothes into my side of the closet, when suddenly Taehyung asked me, "Who gave you these?"
I turned around to look at him holding the bouquet of flower Seojun gave me.
My eyes widened in shock. I ran towards him to snatch back the flowers, but Taehyung reacted fast, holding up the flower up high so that I couldn't reach it.
I kept jumping to retrieve back the bouquet of flowers from his hand, "Taehyung please give it back!"
"Not until you tell me who gave it to you," he said, still holding up the flowers high.
"A friend," I answered whilst panting, already tired of jumping. I'm not lying when I say I'm unfit.
"A female friend or a man?" He questioned me, and I immediately stopped trying to get it back because I was really exhausted.
Just then, the card from the bouquet fell onto the floor, and I picked it up just in time before Taehyung did.
"A female friend," I lied, quickly slipping the card into my pocket.
"You're being secretive," he raised an eyebrow. He probably knew well if I was lying or not.
A sweat was threatening to fall from my forehead. I couldn't tell him the truth.
"So?" I crossed my arms over my chest, "So what if a female friend or a man gives me flowers? You have to care about it?"
His expressions somewhat changed, and he lowered his arm, returning the flowers harshly into my hands. "I was just curious," he said, walking away from me to continue unpacking his stuffs.
For the next few minutes of unpacking, we didn't even talk, and I was unsure why.
After I was done putting my stuffs in place, I turned to Taehyung. "Yah," I called, "You wanna go have lunch now?"
He nodded as a response, not looking at me. He grabbed his coat and car keys, walking before me.
I kept eyeing him, trying to figure out why was he behaving weirdly. Even after we were in the car, Taehyung drove without making a sound.
"Are you okay?" I asked after mustering up some courage. He didn't answer. "Will you talk--"
"Are you dating someone?" He suddenly asked me whilst still keeping his eyes on the road.
I got flustered and awkwardly laughed, "Why'd you ask me that? I mean, I can't even leave the house, right?"
"You don't have to hide it from me if you're seeing someone else, because, we're friends, right?" He spoke, somehow a little monotonously.
I turned to look at him, "Then, are you dating someone?"
"Who can I date with? Soohyun?"
I rolled my eyes at that name, "Yeah, sure."
"I can choose to ask her out if I want to," his tensed expression finally changed into a smirk.
"Excuse me? Then why am I married to you?" I questioned him rather awkwardly. I sounded like I was possessive of him.
Taehyung parked the car swiftly, before turning to me, meeting my eyes, "Then you wanna stay as my wife til' the end?"
I stared at him frozen, not sure how was I supposed to respond. What was he trying to say?
He let out a little laugh, before turning back infront, pulling out the car keys. "Let's go, idiot," he said as he went out of the car.
Trying my hardest to stay composed, I came out of the car and tried to catch up with Taehyung whom was already walking quite a distance before me.
We were walking towards a nearby foodstall, which sells my favourite ddeokbokki.
I sighed and my eyes suddenly darted down on Taehyung's hand which was only a few centimetres apart from mine because we were walking side by side.
I suddenly miss holding his hand.
Hyejin, why are you even thinking about it?
"Why are you looking at my hand?" he asked, slipping his hand into the pocket of his coat.
I quickly looked back up, clearing my throat. "I wasn't," I replied, but my voice was shaking.
Even a child could tell I was lying.
"Hold this," Taehyung said, seeming to take something out of his pocket. I let my left hand out to receive it. I thought Taehyung was putting something on my hand, but instead his hand ended up wrapping around mine.
I saw him smile before he looked elsewhere, swinging our hands as we continued walking on.
I was in loss of words and my heart beat was undoubtedly insane. His hand was simply warm and soft, fitting perfectly with mine.
"Why are you holding my hand?" I asked a stupid question.
"Because you're a child and if you walk by yourself you'd probably trip over a rock or something," Taehyung said, hastening his steps.
I blushed, grinning as I looked at our hands held. Like, I wouldn't mind gluing our hands together.
Our destination was getting near, and I wish we could slower down our steps just so that we could hold hands a little longer.
Geez, Hyejin.
Just when we were about to enter the food stall tent, a familliar man came out. My eyes widened the moment I recognised him, and I quickly looked at Taehyung. I could tell he too, recognised him.
Taehyung clenched my hand tighter, still looking up straight at the man, who was awkwardly standing before us, unsure whether he should greet us or not.
Taehyung suddenly smiled at him, probably out of sarcasm.
"It's been long, Lee Seojun."
