Chapter 34
I had a smile on my face as I made breakfast for Taehyung and I.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms snaked around my waist and I flinched in shock, "Yah, Kim Taehyung."
"Are you making omelettes again? If yes, I'm running away," He joked, resting his chin on my shoulder.
I laughed, "I'm just making sandwiches, if that's okay."
I cut a piece of sandwich, then offered to him. He quickly took a bite, then nodded in approval. Satisfied, I dusted my hands and tried to clear the kitchen counter, but Taehyung's hands were still wrapped around my waist. I chuckled, "Will you let me off for awhile?"
"Nope," He answered, squeezing me tighter in his embrace and buried his face deeper into the crook of my neck.
"Kim Taehyung!" I playfully hit his hand for him to let me go, and he finally did after awhile.
I thought he was going to finally let me do my work, but he held me by my shoulders and spun me around to face him.
My eyes widened and I stared up at him, puzzled. Suddenly, he put his hands on either sides of my waist, supporting me up to sit on the kitchen counter. I smiled, wrapping my hands around his neck. He kept his hands on my waist and grinned at me in return with his eyes half opened.
Taehyung's hair was still messy, evident that he just got up from bed. I held my smile, "Go wash yourself up, kid."
He used his index finger and his thumb and clipped my lips to shut me up, "You're really going to work today?"
I pulled his hand away and answered, "Yes, why?"
"Then I'll follow," He replied.
"Just stay home, will you? You're sick. Get some rest, I'll be home by 6 or so," I assured him, but he didnt look too pleased.
"Whatever," he simply said and instantly let go of me. He turned on the ball of his feet and walked away.
"Yah, you can't be mad, right?" I pushed myself off the kitchen counter and sighed, my eyes were glued to his back as he blatantly ignored me. He's so bipolar at times, I thought.
I sat at the living room and ate alone, thinking that he'd join me for breakfast but he didn't.
Taehyung did his own things inside the room and didn't approach me at all. When it was almost noon, I got ready for work, and for sure I wasn't going to leave the house without speaking to him at all.
I peeked inside the room, and he was just sitting on the bed using his phone. "Yah, Kim Taehyung," I called him, and he pretended as if he didn't hear me. I took a step inside, then walked further towards the bed. "Are you gonna keep being like this? I told you I'll be home soon."
"Then go to work now," he kept his eyes on his phone screen.
I sat at the edge of the bed, then looked at him, "I'll quit my job soon."
He finally took a glance at me, and sat up, "Really?"
I nodded, "So will you please just let me off today? I know you miss me and stuff but--"
"I didn't say I miss you," He interrupted me.
I raised my eyebrow, then hit his chest repeatedly before he broke into laughter and grabbed my wrist to stop me. He pulled me closer towards him, then pressed his lips against mine gently, "Be home quick."
I nodded, "Alright, rest well."
I got up from bed but Taehyung was still holding onto my hand. My cheeks flushed red as I tried to pull my hand away. "I need to go," I said.
He slowly released me, until he finally let go of my pinky finger. Although I wished I didn't have to leave, I waved goodbye to him and left the house with heavy footsteps.

I got off my cab and headed towards the cafe. Surprisingly, someone was already waiting for me eventhough the cafe wasn't opened yet. He was leaning against the door with one leg crossing the other, and he was staring down at his phone screen.
"Seojun?" I called him, and he looked up at me, "You're here early."
He smiled, "I didn't have anything to do today so, I decided to be here."
He moved away so that I could unlock the glass door.
"Come on in," I said, and he walked in after me.
"Why is Jinyoung noona not around?" He asked, putting his bag down in a corner.
"She's on leave today," I said, trying to put on my apron, but I had difficulties tying the strings to my back.
"You need help with that?" He asked, and I nodded.
I turned and faced my back to him, then put on my cap, "I'll make you a drink first."
He walked towards me and grabbed the two strings of my apron before tying it securely around my waist, "It's okay, no rush."
"I'm afraid today will be a hectic day though, since I'll be alone. I don't think I'd be free to sit around for a conversation if you would like to speak to me," I said, "Also, I need to rush home for work."
I suddenly smiled to myself, thinking of Taehyung.
"Ahh, it's okay. I just swing by because I've got nothing to do," He said. I turned around to face him, then a question struck upon my mind.
"What do you do as a living?" I asked.
He pursed his lips, "I don't have a job, my parents support me. You'd find me being dependent and lazy but honestly I couldn't find any job for myself since I'm in this condition."
"I see. So, what do you do on a daily basis?" I got a little more curious.
"Voluntary jobs, go for my check up and live normally... until 6 more years?" he let out a small chuckle, but it didn't seem to have any humour in it.
I combed my hair to the back of my ear awkwardly, "I'll start on my work now."
"Can I help you?" He offered, "Since I think you won't really be able to set up the shop alone."
"Well, if you're fine with it," I said.
He smiled, then started arranging the chairs and helped wipe tables clean. The work surely got lighter with his help.
Customers started swinging by about an hour later, and Seojun stayed in the corner of the cafe, reading a book.
Hours later, I got tired and decided to take a break so I sat down and checked my phone, then I realised I've got text messages.
"I am hungry." --Taehyung
"I'm eating ramyun." --Taehyung
"What are you doing?" --Taehyung
"Be home quickly, idiot. I'm missing you." --Taehyung
I smiled and quickly replied to him.
"I'm closing the shop in a bit. Wait for me." --Hyejin
I locked my phonescreen, then resumed to work in a happy mood. Honestly speaking, it felt like Taehyung's an energy booster for me. I couldn't wait to get home and get into his warm embrace.
"Closing the shop?" Seojun walked towards me. I turned to him and nodded.
"You should get home now, you've been accompanying me since noon til' evening," I said, wiping the tables clean.
"It's okay, I'd be bored otherwise anyway," he said, "Is your husband fetching you, or would you need a ride home?"
"No it's okay really, you've been too helpful today," I said, feeling bad, "I'll take a cab home."
"It's fine," Seojun said, "I'll wait outside."
I sighed, he's too kind. Afterall I couldn't wait any longer to get a cab back home, so I accepted the offer.
When I was done cleaning up the place, I shut the lights off and headed out of the cafe. "Thank you so much," I said, walking beside Seojun.
He simply smiled, "Anyways, have you sort out your problems?"
"Pretty much did. Everything's fine now," I said.
"Glad to hear that," he smiled and kept walking.
"Where's your car?" I asked him since we were walking quite a distance.
"Well there wasn't any parking spot near the cafe earlier so I had to park somewhere else," he said.
I nodded and kept on following him, but then my legs got a little tired, "Are we there yet?"
He shook his head, "Almost."
The sun had gone down and it was getting quite dark. Somehow he slowed down his steps, and we were heading towards somewhere dark. I got a little suspicious, "Where is this? Where's your car?"
"Is it too scary? Do you want me to accompany you to get a cab instead?" He asked, "Because my car is just through that short alley."
"Well, then okay," I said, and continued walking beside him.
We walked into the alley, and it was quite dark since there weren't many lamps around. My goosebumps rose, and I wanted to turn away and just get a cab but I felt sorry for Seojun.
Suddenly, his steps got slower, and slower, and he finally discontinued his steps then turned to face me.
I blinked, "Uhm, where's your car?"
He suddenly took a step towards me, and I flinched.
He stared down intently at me, and at that moment, I knew I was in trouble. However, my legs froze and I couldn't think of what to do.
"...You know, Hyejin. Since we're here, and no one is around..." He gently ran his finger through my hair, and I shuddered.
"Seojun, do not even think of it," I trembled on my two legs. I thought of running, but I couldn't. It felt like someone was holding onto my ankles tight.
He kept walking towards me, and all I could do was to take a step back, cautious of his every movement.
I felt claustrophobic in that narrow alley. Even if I shouted for help, no one could possibly hear me.
Seojun finally stood close enough to me that my back was pressing against the wall.
"Seojun..." I started to tear up, hoping that my tears could at least make him change his mind if he happened to have any bad intentions on me.
"Tears don't work on me," he suddenly gripped my shoulders tightly, and I whimpered in pain. "It's time, Hyejin. I've long waited for you since years ago but you never got a hint."
"What are you talking about just let me go! You jerk!" I tried squirming out of his grip but he pinned me firmly onto the wall, and it was all too late.
"I do not want to suffer alone," he said, and smirked.
I desperately tried to push him away, at some point I managed to, but he immediately trapped me again, and I was helpless.
I couldn't breathe, and I was starting to cry so badly. I tried to grab my phone from my pocket, but he realised what I was reaching for and he immediately took it out and threw it onto the ground.
Frustrated, I screamed, and continuously hit him.
"SHUT UP!" He gave me a tight slap. I felt the corner of my lip bled. I got tired, but I never stopped trying to resist his grip.
Suddenly, he pressed one of his palm against my neck firmly, almost choking me, while the other hand was busy unbuttoning his shirt.
And it was all over for me.
