Chapter 9

Mrs Jung smiled widely as she walked towards us. "Well, hello there children," she spoke.

"Annyeonghaseyo Mrs Jung," Taehyung and I chorused together and bowed, greeting our used-to-be Math teacher. Well, the teacher that used to often send us to detentions.

"I see, you guys are a couple now," she said, with a creepy smile as she scrutinised our matching outfits.

Taehyung and I exchanged glances then stood distant from each other, awkward. "Are you guys dating?" Mrs Jung asked.

Taehyung slightly chuckled. "Dating?" He paused to look at me, "We're married."

I instantly looked up at him, giving him a 'Are you serious?' look. Why'd he need to tell Mrs Jung about it? Ignoring me being all uneasy, he came closer towards me and then slid his arm around my shoulder.

Sweet, my face turned like the colour of tomatoes.

"Oh my," Mrs Jung rather surprised, "We've got alot of catching up to do, don't we?"

I gulped. "It's okay Mrs Jung I think we gotta-"

"Oh come on," she interrupted me, "Let's go to where you both used to belong."

Taehyung and I gave her a confused look.

"Well I mean, the detention room."

Mrs Jung then walked before us, heading to the detention room. We both stood frozen, staring at her back, before we both looked at each other. I slapped Taehyung's arm away and he finally let go of my shoulder.

"Crazy," I muttered under my breath and followed after Mrs Jung.

We three entered the detention room. I could picture so many memories of me in the room, eventhough detention wasn't supposed to be fun. I guess I've shared many memories with Taehyung.

We sat at one of the desks, and Mrs Jung started talking. "Married? Do you guys plan to get children? When did you get married? Where was your honeymoon trip at?"

We both just sat still infront of her, not sure how to answer her questions. We ended up awkwardly laughing.

"Alright alright, sorry for being too curious," she said, "But look at you both, I still remember you fought everyday in class, now you're actually married!"

I awkwardly smiled again, absentmindedly playing with the ring on my finger. If only she knows the truth behind this marriage.

"I'll just leave you two right here. I've got a class right now, see you again soon," Mrs Jung said and got up, leaving the detention room.

I sighed and then turned to Taehyung. "Sorry," he suddenly apologised to me and I got puzzled.

"Why'd you apologise?" I asked.

"I know, this whole pretend marriage is making you feel uneasy. You've gotta pretend you're happy being my wife, you've gotta pretend you actually married me for love, but its all just for show. I put you into all these trouble, so I'm just sorry."

I pursed my lips, feeling a little bad at him being so thoughtful. "It's okay. Don't apologise to me, it feels weird," I said, and he slightly chuckled.

"Yah, it feels like we're doing detention once again," Taehyung said, scanning his eyes around the room, "Nothing's changed."

I nodded. Just then, I caught sight of something, and I smirked. I bit my bottom lip to stop myself from bursting into evil laughter. "Um, Taehyung? I actually got a present for you, but you've gotta close your eyes."

"Well that's new," he said, shutting his eyes close, "Be quick."

"Yeah, don't cheat and open up alright," I reminded him as I got up from my seat. I rushed to the teachers' table where there were markers, and tip toed my way back towards Taehyung.

"Keep your eyes closed," I reminded him again and removed the marker cap without making a sound.

"What present is it? Can you hurry up?" Taehyung got impatient and folded his arms, leaning back in his chair.

Just then, I quickly scribbled on his left cheek with the marker, before his eyes flung open and he slapped my hand away. "YAAAH!" He yelled.

I laughed hysterically and quickly tried to make a run for it. Taehyung started chasing me around the class, also holding a marker.

Soon, my legs got weaker and I slowed down, running to a corner of the room, panting hard. Damn, I'm unhealthy.

Taehyung then got his chance and charged towards me. Before I could even run off, he trapped me with his body and smirked.

"Too late," he said, removing the marker cap. He brought the marker tip closer and started scribbling my face.

"YAAHH KIM TAEHYUNG!" I yelled and smacked his chest but he wouldn't budge and continued drawing on my face. I didn't wanna lose so I did the same.

Minutes later, my face was filled with red ink and his was filled with blue. We both laughed at each other's faces.

"Okay wait, how are we gonna wash up?" Taehyung asked.

***
Taehyung and I took at least 20 minutes trying to clear off all the ink on our face before we went up to the rooftop for some rest.

We stood at the edge, looking at the beautiful scenery. "Trip to school brings back so much memories, doesn't it?" Taehyung asked.

"Yeah, every corner holds a certain history," I replied, "This rooftop too."

"Yes it does," Taehyung suddenly pulled me to the centre of the rooftop, then turned me to face him. "Remember Mina?"

"Yeah, Mina's now in Canada with her family, why?" I asked.

"No, I mean remember what she did to you here before I-" he paused and looked at me.

"Before you what?" I asked, confused at what he was trying to tell me.

Taehyung groaned, "You really have amnesia or something."

Just then, he grabbed my hand, pulling me closer to him. He leaned down and his face came closer to mine. I gulped, my heart suddenly pounding fast. What is he doing? I stared down at his lips, then back into his eyes. I couldn't move, I just stood, frozen.

He stopped when his lips were only about an inch away from mine. "That, happened," He said, in the deep voice of his.

"What did?" I asked, almost whispering.

He rolled his eyes and sighed, taking a step back away from me. Just then, he smacked the back of my head. "First kiss, our first kiss! Why are you so freaking dumb?! Darn it Hyejin," he nagged.

I wasn't sure if I should be embarrassed or awkward or if I should smile.

"Why'd you remember that?" I asked.

"Because it's literally my first kiss," he said, "I lost my first kiss just to save your butt, you idiot."

"Well that kiss wasn't really necessary," I said, sticking out my tongue.

"YAH! How dare you," he sulked.

"Is TaeTae mad?" I teased him. I wrapped my hands around his arm, and tried to be cute, "Let's go?"

"Your aegyo doesn't work on me," he said and I instantly let him go.

"Let's just go eat alright," I said, and went downstairs without waiting for him.

***
We ended up at a nearby food stall by the streets, eating ddeokbokki.

"Was it your first kiss too?" Taehyung suddenly asked me and I almost choked on my rice cake.

"Why are you still talking about it, I'm embarrassed," I said, not looking up at him.

"I'm just curious."

"Well," I replied, looking at him then quickly looked back down at the plate of ddeokbokki. "Yeah, it was the first."

He nodded, then suddenly we both became silent and awkward.

"Are you sure it was your first?" I suddenly asked, "Because um, judging on how you, um, k-kissed me t-that time you, uh, you seemed experienced."

He chuckled, "Stop stuttering."

"I can't help it, it's an awkward topic!"
"Then why'd you still talk about it?"

"I'm just curious!" I snapped and people around stared at me. I shamelessly ignored them and focused on Taehyung.

"I've seen kissing scenes on dramas," he explained.

"Uh, okay, whatever," I cut him off and continued eating.

"Our holiday week is ending soon, you've got any idea where shall we go?" Taehyung asked.

I thought for awhile, "You suggested theme park before."

"Your foot's fine already?" He asked and I nodded.

"Alright we'll go tomorrow," he said and clapped his hands excitedly.

I smiled and we both continued eating the plate of rice cakes before heading home.

***
That whole afternoon, Taehyung and I spent our time in separate rooms, playing our phones or either watching K-Dramas on our own, and only came out of our rooms if we needed more popcorns in our bowls.

In the midst of watching dramas, I ended up sleeping and only woke up about evening.

Suddenly, my head was aching so bad, I tried to search for some headache pills from the drawer by my bed. I rummaged through the drawer and instead of finding my pills, I found a notebook that I haven't touched for so long.

Well, infact, it's a diary that I wrote during my high school days. I took it out and flipped through the pages. I sure had so many stories during those days.

And most of my diary entries were about Taehyung.

I smiled and read one of the entries.

"Dear Diary,
I was sent to detention again, today, with Taehyung. This is insane but Taehyung suddenly hugged me and apologised for yelling at me. Ommo! >.< I felt butterflies, I'm not falling for him, right? I don't want to! Jebal~"

I cringed while reading those lame diary entries. It made my head ache worse.

I was flipping through other pages, before the door to my room opened, and it was Taehyung, "Hyejin?"

I got startled and shut the book close, staring up at him.

He looked down at the book I was holding, then walked towards me. "Let's go have dinner," he said, still eyeing on the book.

"Uh, okay," I said and quickly hid the book under my blanket.

"What's that book?"
