Chapter 17
As they walked through the streets of downtown Charlotte, Levi kept thinking about what he had saw. He didn't know if he should bring it up to anyone but he didn't know the extent to which Joey went.
Eren lead them into a small coffee shop. Very small. Like it had a small counter with all the machines behind it, two chairs, a small couch for two, a coffee table, and one table kinda small.
"Hey Eren!" A small blonde girl with blue eyes ran up to Eren and hugged him. This girl was short, shorter than Levi by maybe two inches. She was obviously a barista here, dressed in a white blouse and black pants with a red baseball cap on.
Eren smiled and hugged her back. He then turned to Levi and typed on his phone.
This is Christa. She's one of my friends. She works here.
Christa smiled at Levi, holding out her hand. "What's you're name?" He took her hand and shook it. "Levi. I just moved here from California." Normally he would be scowling but something about Christa radiated happiness and warmth that he actually smiled slightly.
"So you're friends with Eren?" Christa nodded, smiling wider. "Yup! We've been friends since sixth grade, when we were eleven."
"So you're in the same grade?" Another nod. "Yeah. What about you?"
"I'm sixteen. Gonna be a junior." Christa clapped. "That's amazing! Then you might get to know Ymir!" He looked at her confused. "Who's Ymir?"
"She's my girlfriend." (A/N: btw I ship Christa/Ymir so hard!)
"Oh! Well then I'll have to meet her at some point." Suddenly a loud voice came from behind the counter. "Christa! We need you to do inventory!" Levi looked over and saw a tall, and yet again blonde guy. "Coming Reiner! I gotta go, see ya." She hugged Eren again and ran to the back.
"I like her, surprisingly. I don't like many people." He shrugged and sat on the couch, Eren sitting next to him.
Everybody likes Christa. She's really nice. She was one of the few people to first accept the fact I didn't talk.
"Did people not like you because of it?"
It's not that they didn't like me. They just bullied me a lot for it. I got in a lot of fights then, Mikasa was always having to drag me out of them. Then Christa moved here and she actually liked me for me. After that more people started accepting me and then voila! I have friends.
"So because of Christa you got friends?" Eren shrugged.
I guess. I'm thankful for it.
Levi hummed and nodded. "You're boyfriend is a jerk, ya know?" Eren's head whipped at him and he glared.
Joey is a good guy.
"Good guy?" He pointed to a bruise on Eren's chin. "I saw him grabbed you there and it wasn't gentle. I heard what he was telling you to do."
He's fine! Why would you care anyway?
"Why would I care? I've had friends who've been in the same position you are in. Who are dating someone that hurts them and controls them. And guess who's the one who always saw it first and stopped it?"
I'm not those friends.
Eren glanced at him.
I'm curious. How did you stop it?
"I beat the shit out of the guys who did it. That'll deflate any guys ego being beat up by a guy who's five-foot-three."
Eren laughed his usually half laugh.
I would pay to see that.
"I can beat up Joey. Then you won't have to pay for it."
No. Just stay out of things that aren't your business.
"Got it, chief. But be warned, and ask Hanji, I'm not good at minding my own damn business."
