During the month, Naruto met Jiraiya, a Sannin. Jiraiya agreed to be his sensei, and was the one who taught him some advanced techniques.

Naruto improved his chakra control by practising walking on water, also learned how to call upon the demon fox's energy at will and how to use the Summoning Technique to call the giant toad, Gamabunta.

NARUTO POV

I was running late to the next exam, I met konohamaru on my way there in which he agreed to help me but that didn't turn out well, in fact it made me more late. the next thing I know I'm being chased by Bulls which made me run faster. I managed to make the exams just in time.

"Sorry I'm late" I say

"It's fine you just made it" the new proctor said I just smiled and stood with the rest in line.

"And here I though you turned chicken and ran away" neji says

" Like I would" I shot back

"Okay welcome to the final exam, my name is genma shiranui. I will be your proctor for this round. Now The first match is Naruto uzumaki Vs Neji hyuga, will the rest of you go up on the balcony there." genma says to us. The others go up on the balcony while me and neji stay here.

"ALRIGHT..... BEGIN" the proctor yelled for us to begin the fight.

NO ONES POV

During the fight, Neji lectured Naruto much as he had done with Hinata during the preliminaries, telling Naruto that failures remained failures and that this could not change. Naruto eventually won the battle through a combination of the demon fox's power sealed within him. Everyone was surprised that Naruto the dead last actually won against neji who was known as a prodigy.

The second match, was Sasuke Vs Gaara, but it was moved to last, as Sasuke has not arrived yet.

The third match, was Shino Vs Kankurō, the match was given to Shino on default, since Kankurō forfeited.

The fourth match was shikamaru Vs temari. Both shikamaru and temari were great strategist, shikamaru was better, he was always 5 steps or more ahead of her. Although shikamaru could have won, he quit instead, saying he was low in chakra, making temari the winner.

The next was sasuke Vs gaara again. This was a battle everyone in the crowd wanted to see. they were both equal in strength but before the match could finish a smoke bomb went off. kabuto who is working with ooruchimaru used a genjutsu to put everyone asleep.

Sasuke chased after gaara and then Kakashi told the other rookies who were available to chase after them. which they did, first shikamaru goes to fight a group of people and then shino goes next wanting to fight kankuro because he couldn't before cause kankuro forfeit the match.

Naruto and Sakura managed to catch up to sasuke and gaara but sasuke had weird markings all over his body and face.

"Oi gaara what's going on, why are you attacking the leaf village" Naruto yells at gaara.

"Orders" was all gaara said

Naruto lunged at gaara, who was half in his beast form and half human looking. Naruto unlocked the seal in his arm and a katana sword came out. (If you remember in the previous chapters Naruto can use a sword.) he than started attacking gaara with his sword but with the tough sand that acts as a shield kept blocking the blows. Naruto then thought of an idea, he made a few shadow clones all with a katana in hands then used his wind affinity which covered the blade making it able to cut through anything. (just like asuma does in Naruto) All the Naruto clones attack Gaara, leaving him defenceless cause his sand was cut through with the katana. Gaara being angry that he got hurt, hit Naruto and his clones with his tail making all the shadow clones disappear and the real Naruto hit hard against a tree.

"Are you alright Naruto" asked Sakura who was only two trees away from where Naruto was.

"Yeah I'll live" Naruto says before leaping if the tree and back at Gaara.

"You better dobe" sasuke says to Naruto as he leaps of the tree.

Naruto managed to get hit again but it wasn't from Gaara, it was from his beast shukaku. It looks like Gaara got taken over. So Naruto summoned a toad, hoping it to be gamabunta but instead it was gamakichi.

"What are you doing here" Naruto asks

"Well I want to play, it's so boring over there" gamakichi says, referring to his home

"Geez it's not the time to play can't you see we're in a middle of a battle" Naruto says pointing to Gaara who is in his beast form

"Well I can't help it your Te one who summoned me" gamakichi says

"Fine whatever just stay out of the way" Naruto says biting his thumb to make it bleed so he can try to summon again only to make sure it's gamabunta which it worked cause now Naruto is standing on gamabunta head. Which they fought but gamabunta agreed to help him in the end. They fought shukaku and won, they managed to wake Gaara up, both of them out of chakra and exhausted, went there separate ways.

Sakura then took both Naruto and sasuke to the hospital to heal, only for Naruto to meet someone unexpected their waiting for him.
