Genevieve laid on her stomach as David sat against the headboard, caressing her bare back. "Are you sleepy?" He asked her. "Mmh, not really. Just a little tired." She smiled and closed her eyes with a sigh. "You wanna get a lotta tired?" He leaned towards her and grinned evilly. She giggled and looked up to kiss his stubble. "Maybe after a ten-minute break," David laid on his side and pulled her to him. "You're something else, Gen." He kissed her shoulder and she squirmed. "You were something else ever since I saw you. Like... some sort of mirage."
    - "How many times have you used that line on other girls?" David rolled his eyes and leaned back with his hands crossed behind his head. "No. I don't normally do conversation with girls I fuck. You're a special occasion." Genevieve moved to her side and glided her hand up and down his chest, tracing them with her finger and making his muscles contract as she did. He watched her intently. "Tell me something," she murmured. "Hm,"

"On the first night. Did you hear me?"

"What?"

"Did you hear me?" She raised a brow at him and he smiled devilishly. "Maybe,"

-"So then what, was it your plan to fuck me all along?" She pursed her lips at him and he laughed. "It was at first. But I didn't think I'd actually like you." It was Genevieve's turn to
laugh. "Like me, huh? So then you don't have to like someone to fuck them." David shook his head and smiled at her giggles. "Why do I get the feeling that angry sex is the kind of sex you commonly get?"

- "Because the sun don't agree with most women," David shrugged. Genevieve scoffed in response. "Or, you're just an asshole with an annoyingly powerful sex appeal,"

- "Oh yeah? You think so?" Devin suddenly moved over her and blew quiet raspberries on her neck as his hands entwined with hers. She laughed and squirmed under him. "Stop!" She howled as he continued tickling her. "No can do, my powerful sex appeal appears to be out of control," He mumbled against her skin and began to softly kiss her. She smiled. "Mmh, It's a shame I'll leave tomorrow," David suddenly stopped and raised his head to her, his smile long gone. "You're leaving tomorrow? Already?" Genevieve sighed deeply and nodded at him. After a quiet pause, he pressed his forehead against hers. "Stay," He whispered. Genevieve moved her hands to his face and cupped his chin. "I can't. Unfortunately, I have a life far away from here." David sighed deeply, and it broke Genevieve's heart that she had to leave him. "We can keep in contact. You can come over sometime. I did hear you like going here and there, breaking hearts," She added and he smiled. "Okay. I'd have to get my phone first. I left it in my truck."

-  "I'll go get it if you want, I was gonna go pick up some ice anyway," Genevieve slid from under David. She threw her clothes back on and stuffed her feet into her boots. "My keys are by the t.v." David laid down with his hands behind his back as he watched Genevieve slide on her shorts without her panties. "Don't be too long. I want to get started again," He said as she made her way out the door and she giggled.

Genevieve swung the bucket around as she made her way to the back of the motel where David's truck was parked. She hummed as the gravel crunched under her boots. She felt happy. Satisfied. It was good sex. No. It was amazing sex. But maybe it was just that. Can she and David actually have a future together? Was this her chance at happiness? She would just have to find out. Once she turned the corner, She stopped.

She spotted David's boat, hooked to a red pick-up truck.

A pick up truck she immediately recognized. And at that moment, everything came back to her, flooding her mind all at once.

"Please help me, Mister..." she pleaded from afar.

"Shit... Shit! What have I done!" He breathed quickly with his hands pulling his hair. "I can't go to prison, I can't go to prison, I'm only 18!" He cried as he ran back to his pickup and sped down the road until he was long gone.

She continued sobbing for help.

Genevieve walked up to the truck. The paint job looked new and the dents were gone. She opened the truck's door and searched for David's phone. After opening the glove compartment, she found a gun with a silencer attached to it. Next to it, his phone.

She climbed into the car and closed the door. And stared. She stared at nothing. For that moment, she was incapable of feeling anything.

"Please, Help me, mister..."

"I can't go to prison!"

"Help me, mister..."

"I'm only 18!"

"Mister..."

All her life, she felt sorrow. She felt alone. She felt emptiness. Tonight, she felt something else. Something new. She took the phone and the gun, and her heart immediately raced. Alarms sounded in her head, and a strange, incoherent zipping rang in her ears. She stepped out of the truck and slowly walked back to Room 26.

"Took you a while. I was already falling asleep," David was sitting up and Genevieve smiled sweetly. "Sorry. I checked in with Mister Jindal. No ice." David pouted. "Oh well, Come here," He gestured with his head. Genevieve walked closer to David and sneaked the gun under the pillows without him noticing. She pulled her shirt off and her shorts down. "Mmmh," David grinned as she did. Kicking her boots off, Genevieve crawled back to bed and straddled him, kissing him deeply. David groaned as his hands moved all over her body. Her tongue gently teased David's as they kissed and for a brief second, she broke off the kiss.

"I love your tongue," She sighed against his mouth. "I want to feel it on me," David smiled and they shifted. Genevieve sat against the headboard and spread her knees before him. He laid down on his stomach and crawled towards her core, kissing her inner thighs softly. "Don't stop," She tilted her head back with her eyes closed, and her hand slowly slipped under the pillows. "Can I tell you something? Something I've never told anyone else?"

- "What is it?" He continued kissing her. "How it happened, how my family died," David stopped. "No, please... Keep going, I need to feel you. It'll be easier," She looked down and softly fisted his hair. He nodded and continued kissing her inner thighs, making her moan quietly. "We were driving down Veteran's Memorial Highway..." She moaned, her hand slipping under the pillows and finding the gun. "I was eleven... My brother was 17... It was 4 pm and a drunk driver was swerving at 87 miles an hour..." She moaned out loud as David's tongue moved closer to her core, and suddenly, tears began to sprout.

He hit us, right on Dad's side... Our car tumbled off the road... My brother- "She gasped as David held onto her thighs and pressed his lips on her mound. He was trying his best to make her stop. He didn't want her to relive her past, but she somehow continued. "My brother wasn't wearing his seatbelt, he was reaching for his backpack. He was the first to die. Mom smashed her head against the dashboard. And Dad also died on impact. I knew who did it. I saw them. But I never told anyone..." Genevieve pulled out the gun from under the pillows and aimed it at David's head.

"It was some 18-year-old asshole with a red pickup truck. He ran away to avoid prison. He saw me and he ran away." David immediately stopped. His eyes widened and his heart sped. The blood from his face drained as he remembered the bleeding girl with a backpack in her arms. The memory that would haunt him for the rest of his life.

He slowly looked up at her in disbelief and gaped at the silencer of his own gun. Genevieve looked down at him sternly, with heavy tears scurrying down her face. " You saw me and you ran away." She whispered and pulled the trigger.

She pulled the trigger again. And again.

The gun did not go off. She gasped as she realized what she was about to do did not happen, and in a blink of an eye, David pulled the gun away from her and got out of the bed. He breathed heavily as he gaped at Genevieve, her own eyes wide and alarmed. He paced back and forth, the hand with the gun on the back of his neck.

"Fuck this," He hissed after a few laps and pulled his jeans up. Without thinking, Genevieve lunged herself at him. "No!" She shrieked and tried taking the gun away from him. "Get off me!" He struggled to push her away. She dug her nails on his face and he growled in pain. In the midst of their brawl, David dropped the gun and they both fell onto the bed. David straddled Genevieve's naked body, pinning her wrists down and she screamed and used all her might to try to flee from his weight. "You're fucking crazy! You need help!" He hisses down at her and she spits at him, temporarily blinding him. She finally frees herself and crawls off the bed for the gun. "I needed your help! And you ran away!" With a loud cry, She swung the gun to the back of his head and he fell flat onto the mattress, his hands holding onto his nape tightly.

He moans in pain and Genevieve stares. She looks at the gun on her hand and removes the safety, finally realizing why it did not go off. She climbs his body and presses the silencer of the gun on his head and he stops moving. "You. You killed my family and you ran away." She growled. The gun begins to shake. "I didn't want it to happen," His voice trembles.  "I was a kid, I couldn't go to prison, you have to understand! I'm sorry," She laughed a quiet, hysterical laughter. "Sorry is not gonna cut it, pal." She murmured as she leaned towards his ear. "You took everything from me."

- "I was only a kid!"

- "No, I was only a kid! You were drunk!"

- "Please," David tightened his eyes and held his breath as Gen grew quiet. After a moment, she closed her eyes and sighed as she sat up straight. David exhaled in relief.

"See you in Hell, asshole." She pulled the trigger and gasped when a warm splatter covered her face.

She stared at the oozing hole in David's cranium and crawled off of his lifeless body.

She was still naked.

Genevieve left the gun on the bed and went into the bathroom with her clothes.

She took a quick, lukewarm shower and reminisced about what she did.

And for some inexplicable reason, it didn't nag at her that she had just been responsible for taking the life away from someone else.

Maybe it's because he took lives too. Three lives. Or maybe he took four. Maybe Genevieve also died in that car crash.

Maybe she was already dead.

Genevieve stepped out of the shower and jumped at the sight of the carcass still lying face down on the bed. She quickly changed and with all her strength, she pulled the body higher up to the bed and propped them as if they were asleep. She tucked them in, using the large burgundy duvet to cover the oozing blood on the white sheets. She raked their hair off their face and leaned to kiss them on the forehead. "You killed me first, you know. But for a night you made me feel like I was alive again. I'll give you that much. Sleep tight."

She cleaned the gun with the fabric of her top and left it under the pillows before taking her belongings and leaving room 26.

The next morning, Genevieve stretched across the bed and sighed deeply. She stared up at the ceiling and smiled.

She hadn't slept that well in years.

She pulled out her bags from the door and locked it behind her. The cleaning lady was two doors to the left side and Genevieve waved at her. Passing by, she pulled out a 'Do Not Disturb' sign from her jacket and clipped it on the doorknob of room 26. After stuffing her bags into the Buick, she made her way towards the office to give the key and remote to Mister Jindal and bid him goodbye. "Lovely having you again, Genie. I hope you enjoyed your stay. I know it wasn't the room you wanted, but-"

- "It's okay, Mister Jindal. I very much enjoyed my stay. Room 27 just might become my new favorite room." They hugged and she was finally on her way. As she mounted her Buick, The cleaning lady exited room 27 and passed the next room as she glanced at the sign.

    She finally left Needles.

Genevieve drove up the Mohave Valley Highway with the windows of her old Buick down. The aviators on her face protected her deep brown eyes from the scorching sun beaming down and the hot, dense air filled the car and disheveled her umber colored hair as it moved at 75 miles per hour up the 95. The Growlers crooned quietly from the worn out speakers, singing about one million lovers and she listened. She listened as her mind wandered back than hours ago in room 26. When she was with a brief love or hers. When she was okay for the first time in a long time.
