Epilogue

We can't direct the wind but we can adjust the sails.

-unknown.

Hope you enjoy the music. Its really beautiful. ❤❤

This epilogue is written in third person.

The soft rays of the early morning sun made its way through the cotton drapes of the window, gently illuminating the room. The sweet fragrance of lilies mixed with the cool morning breeze made the day feel special already.

"Mm..." Anka said as she stirred from her sleep and popped one eye open. Instantly a small smile appeared on her face as she lay on her side and looked at a scene that warmed her heart.

In front of her lay two of her favorite people. Her nine year old son was sound asleep, his head resting on his father's chest. The rise and fall of her husband's abdomen seemed to oddly comfort her. The two looked so alike that Anka couldn't help feeling slightly jealous.

"Looks like someone is enjoying the morning view," Ammon whispered softly, his eyes still closed.

"Ammon, you're awake?" Anka whispered back, a little startled and surprised. She thought he was asleep.

"Yup," Ammon said, opening his eyes and smiling wide. Anka snarled. Somehow he always knew what she was up to which at times was really frustrating. He had done it so many times she didn't even bother asking how he knew.

"We should get up," Anka whispered as she stroked her son's head gently.

"We still have a little more time," Ammon whispered back and with his free hand he dragged Anka closer.

"Five minutes that's all," Anka whispered, closing her eyes and taking in the warmth of her baby and the man she loves. This was her favorite place to be in the entire world and she wouldn't trade it for anything.

"Dalila, come here this instant!" Neith said angrily for the hundredth time to her six year old daughter.

"No! I want father to dress me," Dalila said from underneath the bed.

"Dal, come on. Father is busy now," Neith said, trying to control herself from bursting into flames.

"I want father!" Dalila said, moving in further. Neith had had enough. She was about to go under the bed and drag her daughter out but her ten year old son, Jibade stopped her.

"Mother, leave her to me," Jibade whispered to Neith.

He then knelt down,"Dal, please come out. I'll dress you if you want. We can't keep aunt and uncle waiting. Don't you wanna see Geb?" Jibade asked in a tone sweeter than honey.

"Geb is coming?" Dalila asked excitedly.

"Yes, he is," Jibade said with a smile. Dalila than came out from underneath the bed almost immediately and hid behind Jibade so she wouldn't have to face her mother's wrath.

"Dal why aren't you ready yet?" Aahotep asked as he entered the room looking confused. Dalila face brightened up immediately and she ran over to him with open arms. He picked her and she hugged his neck not willing to let go.

"Ask her. She was the one hiding under the bed and wouldn't come out until now," Neith said trying to control a temper that seemed to be stirring a storm before it turned to grumpiness. Dal always seemed to prefer Aahotep more than her. Was that normal or was she just a bad mother? She couldn't understand.

"Dal, why were you hiding under the bed?" Aahotep asked, looking at Dalila.

"Because mother has very bad taste in clothes and she was going to dress me like a boy!" Dalila said, her voice filled with horror as she pointing at the light purple cotton top and kaki pants that Neith was holding.

"What! I do not have bad taste. This is cute and comfortable," Neith said, looking offended. She felt like someone had just pierced an arrow through her heart.

Aahotep was trying to contain his laughter as much as he could but he couldn't and burst out laughing. Neith glared at him and he stopped immediately.

"Dal, you made mom sad. She just has a unique taste that's all. Now what do you want to wear?" Aahotep asked looking at Dalila lovingly. His son was his pride and joy but his daughter was his everything.

"Father, I think mother has good taste. She chose the outfit I'm wearing and I love it," Jibade said as he showed off his white cotton bottom and blue linen top. It was paired with a long blue sapphire pendent that had the royal crest embedded in it. With his jet black hair and his green eyes he really looked like a Prince of Egypt.

"That's because mother likes boy clothes," Dalila said bluntly.

"Because it's comfortable!" Neith said, fighting the urge to spank her daughter. She had chose this outfit cause Dalila was going to play so a pant and a top would be more comfortable than a dress.

Aahotep smiled at his family. He definitely had three children. He loved how his wife hadn't really changed all that much in fifteen years. The only difference was that she had grown to be one of Egypt's finest swordsmen or in this case swordswoman.

"All right, I'll dress Dal. Since Bade and you are done why don't you both head down stairs first. We will join in in a while," Aahotep said to Neith.

"But I want to dress my daughter," Neith said with a pout. All she wanted was to spend some time with her daughter.

"Mother, it's best if father did it. Besides I want to go meet Geb," Jibade said, his eyes held so much excitement.

"Oh all right," Neith said, giving up. Its probably for the best she thought.

Jibade and Neith made their way down the stairs and into the rose garden. There was a large canopy tent where Ammon, Anka and their nine- year-old son Geb were seated.

Once Neith and Jibade were in the tent Anka gave them a big hug.

"Why didn't you put on a dress?" Anka asked Neith, looking slightly disappointed. Neith was wearing an all white training uniform.

"Why would I? You know I only wear them when I have to," Neith said, taking a seat.

"Father taught me a new sword technique. Wanna see it?" Geb asked Jibade excitedly.

"Of course!" Jibade replied, equally excited. The two of them took their wooden swords and headed out into the garden.

"Where is Aahotep and Dal?" Ammon asked Neith as he looked around.

"Don't even get me started on those two," Neith said sulking. She wondered if her daughter would ever love her.

"Dal making a fuss again?" Anka asked.

"Ya, she doesn't like me at all. She wants Aahotep to do everything. I was the one who gave birth to her yet somehow Aahotep is all she wants," Neith continued, sulking even more.

"You know daughters like their dad's a lot more. I'm sure she will come around," Ammon said, hoping his little sister would cheer up a little.

Just then Aahotep and Dalila entered the tent. Dalila wore a silk pink gown and matching shoes. Her brown hair was up in a ponytail. Her brownish green eyes seemed to be searching for something or someone.

"Where is brother and Geb?" Dalila asked, looking at the trio in front of her.

"Aww don't you look cute. I'm glad at least Dal has a sense of style unlike her mother. Your aunt is going to buy you so many pretty things when you grow up," Anka said in a high pitched voice as she pinched Dalila's cheeks.

"Dal, first say hello to Ammon and Anka," Aahotep said, taking a seat next to Neith.

"Hi, aunty, uncle. I'll go search for brother and Geb now," Dalila said before running off into the garden.

"Dal seems to be a little too fond of Geb," Aahotep said, a small frown forming on his forehead.

"Of course she does. She really doesn't have anyone else other than her brother and Geb to play with. Besides if she decides to marry Geb she has my blessings," Neith said, smiling at Aahotep's distraught face. She enjoyed pulling his toes on the topic.

"No one is getting married now," Aahotep said firmly. He didn't really like the idea of someone marrying Dal even if it was his favorite nephew.

"So Aahotep, why did you want to meet us? Does it have anything to do with you opening the temples?" Ammon asked, trying to break some tension in the room.

"No no, that's all going well. Hopefully the public enjoys worshipping the old gods again.

"I'm sure they are gonna love it. Besides this way there won't be anymore conflicts or uprising for religious sake," Ammon said with a smile on his face. He thought it was a brilliant idea to rebuild the old temples and bring back the old worship which would be open to the public.

"I hope so. That's the reason I'm doing all this anyway. Alright so the reason why I called you was ask for a favor. I was hoping if you could tutor Jibade. You know to fight," Aahotep said as he took a sip of his water.

Ammon was taken aback by his words. After he had recovered from his injuries, he was asked to step down as General of the royal army for treason. He was supposed to either be hanged or exiled for life but given the circumstances he had to face, Aahotep didn't do that. Also the people would panic if they found out the General had been one of the rebels. So he and Anka together opened an eatery as means for their livelihood.

"But..." Ammon couldn't continue. He felt that he didn't deserve it.

"With me traveling so much and Neith being General we really don't have enough time to train him. Besides you taught one of the best fighters I know," Aahotep said as he looked at Neith with a smile.

"If that's the Pharaoh's wish than I can't really disobey can I," Ammon said, bowing his head. He felt so happy. His eatery was something he enjoyed doing but the feeling of holding a sword and training under the scorching sun was something his heart had always been at.

"No, you can't," Aahotep said with a huge smile. Sometimes being a Pharaoh had its perks.

"So, I heard that you are going to Buto next week. Does it have something to do with Nefertiti?" Ammon asked Aahotep.

"Yes, Mother isn't doing so well. So we will be visiting her. Besides she hasn't seen either of the kids yet or us in more than ten years so I thought perhaps this might be her last change to see them," Aahotep said, his voice starting to get slightly course.

She was exiled to Buto, a few months after her trail. There she was treated and after three years she finally seemed to have realised her mistakes. Over the past three months her health seemed to be going down hill so Aahotep wanted to see her before it was too late.

"Don't worry I'm sure she will be fine," Neith said, trying to cheer Aahotep up. She knew this wasn't true as the news they received said otherwise but that didn't stop her from believing that Nefertiti would live. She was a very strong women after all.

"I hope so too," Aahotep said with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. She knew that losing a parent was one of the hardest things in the world and she hoped he wouldn't have to experience it so soon.

"Alright enough of the sad talk. Are you guys ready to lose to me at Senet again?" Anka asked with a devilish grin, trying to change the sulky mood that had set in.

"Not this time Anka. I'll definitely win today," Neith said as she took out the board.

"Let's see exactly how you will," Ammon said, giving his sister a sweet but arrogant smile.

"Hello? You guys are forgetting I'm a champion at this game," Aahotep said as he rolled his sleeves up, ready to kick some ass.

"Ya right. You lost every game we have played till date," Neith said getting fired up.

"Well today is different and I have a feeling I'm gonna get lucky," Aahotep said and so they started the game. Little did Aahotep know that this game would actually end in his favour.

*********

"Are you all right?" Geb asked Jibade as he held out his hand.

"Ya, I'll live. You really have improved a lot," Jibade said as he took Geb's hand and pulled himself up.

"Well its all because father trains me. If he trained you than I don't think I could win," Geb said, giving Jibade his sword back.

"You underestimate yourself too much Geb," Jibade said as he put his hands over Geb's shoulder. His best friend was way too polite for his own good and Jibade worried for him.

"I should say the same for you," Geb said with a cheeky grin.

"Geb!" Squealed Dalila as she ran straight into him, almost making him fall over.

"Dal, a princess shouldn't behave so rashly," Jibade said in a slightly stern tone. His sister was a big hugger except when it came to their mother.

"Aww, bade what are you talking about. She is just a child," Geb said with a smile. He loved Dal's hugs. Who didn't.

"How have you been? Here I got these for you," Geb said as he knelt down to her level and took out a few candies from his pocket.

"Thank you Geb!" Dalali said, squealing as she gave Geb another hug and took the candies from his hand.

"You spoil her too much and where are my candies?" Jibade asked as he held out his hand.

"Aren't you supposed to buy them for me since I'm younger than you," Geb said with a grin.

"Only by six months! Don't get ahead of yourself," Jibade said as he locked his arm around Geb's neck and playing chocked him.

"Brother, stop bullying my husband!" Dalila said with a fierce look in her eyes. In her pink gown and those fiery brown-green eyes she looked like a little angry angel. Jibade couldn't help but burst out laughing at the statement.

"Dal, you aren't even married to him. How can you call him your husband?" Jibade asked in-between his fit of laughter.

"So what I'll marry Geb in the future," Dalila said as she moved towards Geb.

"Don't worry I'll grow up soon and become the most beautiful girl in the kingdom," Dalila said innocently as she gave Geb a dazzling smile.

Jibade continued laughing while Geb stood there nervously as he scratched his neck. His uncle would definitely have his head if he heard Dal. How did things get complicated so quickly?
