-Repeated Secrets-
Anderson gasped feeling ice cold water hit his face and soaking his shirt. What? What happened?
"Half the time I was hoping they had overdosed you" said M-I6 stepping in.
Anderson groaned shaking his head. "Bloody hell, what did you put in that dose?" asked Anderson blinking. His forehead ached immensely but he was stuck, couldn't really go anywhere to get out of the chains.
"We've made several changes since you dropped off the map. Charles Sicko" said M-I6 using the false name.
"Sh**" muttered Anderson. He knew that look. M-I6 had figured it out.
Anderson raised his soaked head, "Let me guess it was the Russian or Delacy"
"No neither of them said a word about you. But simply dying your hair blonde and changing your name isn't enough to fool the people close to you Anderson. It's not enough to fool those who knew you" said M-I6.
Anderson smirked, "I managed to fool you for seventeen months. I'd call that a record" said Anderson.
"Bond managed forty-eight in Nigeria I wouldn't get cocky in front of me. I am still trying to decide whether to wring your neck about getting Jova out of custody!" yelled M-I6.
"I needed him" said Anderson plainly.
"Needed him?! The only thing you needed to do was stay dead!" yelled M-I6.
"I stayed that way for as long as I could. I was doing my job. The job you assigned me to! The one you assigned me when I turned eighteen! I've been doing the same job for eleven years now! I have been watching Jamie Delacy as you ordered!" yelled Anderson.
M-I6 leaned forward, "You let a criminal, a terrorist out onto the streets and let him run rampant! You stole a helicopter from British Intelligence! You committed treason and countless other acts that I likely don't know about-"
"M-I6 that's enough" said a voice.
Delacy stood at the doorway exhausted and looked like she needed to sit down.
"Who let you in here-"
"Enough" repeated Delacy.
M-I6 fell silent. The sternness in her voice wasn't loud but it made the man know to can-it.
"He saved my life, now let him go. He knows more about the situation I am in than any of us. I need him. I need him to explain to me what is going on. We all need him to" said Delacy.
M-I6 was silent glaring at her.
"Do I need to call her majesty?" threatened Delacy.
M-I6 flinched. That one stung. Delacy knew what made him tick. M-I6 complied as a result. Even though he knew the queen calling was a bluff. Delacy couldn't call anyone. Not from here. Not from within British Intelligence.
M-I6 went next to her, "I want to speak to you when you have time....privately" growled M-I6.
"I'll deal with you later" said M-I6 glaring at Anderson as the chair cuffs were removed and he exited alone.
Anderson rubbed his wrists raising her head to meet her eyes.
"I mean it Anderson, you will tell us everything you know. Not just the little diversion of my financial accounts. I mean everything. And if you don't tell me you best at least tell the gentlemen out there. You tell Jova everything, because if you don't I will let M-I6 use whatever technique he wants to get you to talk and I will let him have you. Am I understood?" asked Delacy.
"Delacy I can't-"
"You tell them damn it! You can keep secrets from me! But you will not keep secrets from them! You will not keep feeding them bits of information that only give them half the picture! They deserve to know what you have dragged us all into! You! You who didn't let me kill may father! You! YOU WHO LIED TO ME ABOUT MY OWN MOTHER!!!"
Delacy went chest to chest with him her voice rising and grabbed his scruff shoving him against the ground, "You can lie to me Anderson! You can lie all you want, but if you even lie once more to the people out there who you assigned to protect me! If you treat them as if they were disposable objects and you endanger them ever again!" Delacy got real close.
Anderson could see her anger, "I will stick a bullet through your skull" she whispered.
"Am I understood?" she repeated.
Anderson's heart pounded his breath heavy. He swallowed hard. Delacy knew.... Delacy knew... she knew what Anderson had done.... and...
"Yes... I understand" breathed Anderson quietly.
Delacy released him, "Then get up, man up and go" said Delacy pointing towards the door.
Anderson hesitated, "NOW!" yelled Delacy enraged as he didn't move. Anderson jolted up stumbling as the chair he gripped slipped. But he headed to the door not breaking eye contact until he was out of the room.
Delacy set up the chair sitting down. Her hands covered her face as she cried.
All Anderson did was lie. That's all he had ever done to her... that's why it would never work between them. No matter how well intended it was. Lie to keep her safe.
A lie was still a lie, and to Delacy it did not make it any better. It just would never work between them... even though she dearly wanted it to.
