It was a warm and sunny day in Hawaii the surf was perfect. Toni was at her job being a lifeguard in Maui Hawaii. She had just gotten done with doing a rescue on a traveler who gotten stuck in a bad rip.
(POV Change to Toni)
I had just gotten done rescuing an Asian tourist who didn't know how to swim and was swimming right in front of the dangerous current sign. As I head up to the tower for my lunch break I can sense something is not right all of the guys in the tower looked grim. And there were two police officers there. " Hey guys what's going on." I say. One of the police officers look at me and ask " Are you Toni Casey".
" I am" I say confused wondering if my mom did something stupid again.
" You need to come with us." one of the officers said I look at them questionly " Why what's wrong"
" It's about your mother Lisa Casey."
I nod thinking she probably got arrested or is in the hospital again. I go and put on my sweatshirt and shorts to cover my bathing suit and grab my phone and go with them. As I am sitting in the back of the car I wonder what's going on and why they won't tell me anything. When we get to the police station the officers lead me to conference room
. "So what is this about" I ask.
"Your mom was found dead of a drug overdose.this morning in her apartment." One of the
officers tell me.
I just stare at them in shock.
"What" I say
" Your mom was found in her apartment non-responsive and on the way to the hospital she went into cardiac arrest and passed away I am so sorry for your loss."
I just don't know what to say I never expected this to happen I mean I kinda new it could happen because I mean she is a drug addict but I never thought it would happen. I look at the officers.
" What will happen to me now."
" We are contacting your father."
" I don't even know who my father is all I know is he left my mom when he found out she was pregnant with me." I exlam
" He was listed on your birth certificate his name Is..........
