Chapter One: The Code

Kai wakes up to the sound of his alarm. He turns it off and gets up to get ready for the day. He had to admit, he liked his life as it was now.

When Kai arrives at the breakfast table, everyone has beaten him there. "Good morning." Zane says. Kai smiles at Zane. What the nindroid didn't know, was that he wasn't the technology on the team.

Kai sits to eat and ends up in a conversation with Lloyd. "So, like I said, there is no way a computer program could take over someone!" Jay finishes his argument with Cole. Kai shakes his head, knowing the blue ninja was wrong.

"I don't know... I mean, tech is advancing rapidly. There could be a way we haven't explored. Like what if-" Cole gets cut off. "I have to agree with Jay, there just isn't anyway." Zane says. Cole glares. "Could you let me finish my argument?!" The black ninja shouts. "I apologize." Zane says. "I agree with Cole. With the right advancements, it's possible. The brain works off electrical signals. If one made device that could harness those signals and control them, then they could theoretically control the brain. If you control the brain, then you control the person." Kai explains.

Jay & Zane's jaws drop. They hadn't thought about that. Kai looks smug. He knew he was right.

"Time to settle down now. We must train." Wu says then stands. They all nod then stand as well, ready for the day.

After training, Kai leaves, saying he's visiting an old friend. As he flies off on his dragon, he nears a cliff face. He speeds up and flies right through, the cliff turning into code for a split second as he goes through.

He ends up in a secure hidden valley with a constant dry thunder storm over it. He lands and walks over to a giant carving in the ground with computer code written all over it. He stands in the middle and relaxes, letting a bolt of lightning hit him.

The lightning turns into a beam on contact with him & he is instantly transported.

He winds up on a warp pad in a giant room. He walks off and over to the door. His eyes flash red for a second, then the door opens. He walks through and down a hallway. The windowless hall is quite, except for his foot falls on the glass floor.

When he reaches the end, he opens the door and walks into a giant out door hub filled with androids.

He walks through the crowd. "K2K3! K2K3! Is that you?!" A man says, running over. Kai looks to him. "Yeah, how yah been H.A.C.K?" Kai says. "Good, you?" Hack says. "Ah, just fine." Is Kai's reply.

The two walk down the glass streets of the futuristic city. The two were the only non androids it seemed. "Were are the other C.O.D.E's?" Kai asks. "Transferred to android bodies. They think it's better since a metal body lasts longer." Hack explains. "I'm just fine in my.... How do you put it? 'Flesh suit'?" Kai says. "You and me both." Hack agrees.

They make it their destination. A small black square building. They walk to the door and Hack's eyes flash white for a second. The door opens and they walk in before it closes.

"So, I thought you weren't coming back." Hack says as he walks to his kitchen. "I didn't think I would." Kai replies as he sits in a glass chair in the living room.

Hack shakes his head. "Then what made you come back? Someone die again?" Hack asks. "I'm only visiting. I need to find Neon." Kai answers. "Neon? What do you want with Neon?" Hack asks as he comes in with two glass plates of food.

"I need to ask a few questions is all." Kai answers. Hack nods in understanding. "So, do you know where I can find Neon?" Kai asks. Hack shrugs. "Neon went off the grid. Haven't seen that know-it-all in ages." Hack answers.

Kai shakes his head and stands. "Great. Just great." He says then goes to leave. "I'm going to track Neon down. You gonna come?" He says. "Meh. You go ahead. I have a name to live up to." Comes Hack's reply. Kai shakes his head and leaves. He needs to find Neon.

Kai walks though the streets of the glass city till he reaches a giant glass building filled with books. He walks in and looks around until he finds a computer. Kai turns on the device and searches N.E.O.N.

When Kai finds what he's looking for, he logs out & leaves. He races over to a train with no wheels. The contraption hovering above a thick blue line that acts as it's track. He gets on after reading the sign written in computer code. When the train moves he sits and waits.

Once the train reaches it's station, he hops off in a near identical city to the last one.

He walks down the streets till he reaches a small rundown & rusted hobble. He knocks. "Who is it?!" A voice calls. "It's me! K2K3!" Kai says. The door opens up and out comes a woman with a perfectly curved figure, pale skin, short pixie cut black hair, and vibrant blue eyes.

She let's him in without a word. He walks in. "What do you want K2K3?" She asks. "I need your help Neon." Kay answers. "My help? With what?" She asks. "Can you... Well... Access the universal code?" Kai asks. "Yes." She answers. "Good, I'd like to save a human conscious." He says. Her eyes go wide. "Why?" She asks, surprised. "Just... Please?" He asks. She sighs. "Fine, but you owe me!" She says. He nods.
