I was a mess...

Of course "down to earth" has double meaning; first that Jesus is an unpretentious loving soul and friend (as in He's so down to earth), and second that He actually came down to earth, to save us!

Also, I've been awed by stories of soldiers in battle who have sacrificed themselves by jumping on a live grenade to save their friends. Jesus did that for us on the Cross!
