For You, For Them

What if you died?

Would it really matter

Would they truly mourn you

or only the image you sought after –

    but never achieved

Would the shadow of your life

cast wide or small

on God's eternal wall?

Where it counts – in the hearts and souls

    of those you love the most –

is the mark deep and lasting,

    to the uttermost?

Lord, let me live for You

    as I live for them

With no regrets – until I am spent

Lord, I pray that I shall live unreservedly for You ~ first and foremost.  Then with sacrificial love for my family, friends, church family.  This puts me squarely last, exactly where I belong.  There is no room for selfishness, no provision for the flesh or the world.
