On the Hook
On the Hook
Forgotten promise
made on my knees
Surge of centripetal will
Not a thankless task
to keep it still
Deny
Don't try
Release
To Cease
On that hook, I got away
Centrifugally, let it be me
Okay, I confess that the impetus for this poem stems from a Spongebob episode where Patrick lures [pun intended] SpongeBob away to play on the hooks. These appear to Patrick to be a carnival, but are in reality fisherman's lures. There's an analogy there about temptation and sin, I think.
When we face temptation, there is a natural inclination on the part of the believer to try and combat it in our own strength. We must not do this; we must release/surrender to Jesus, His Spirit, His Power.
