Evelyn's POV
It's been 3 weeks since me and Mapiko were brought up in the box and reunited with our brothers. Life has been peaceful since the job trials, I've been chosen to be a med jack and I'm really enjoying it so far. Mapiko was chosen to be a Runner and I was really excited for her, as I know it's her ideal job as she can run for hours and has great hearing, although I know that her eyesight is getting worse and I keep trying to get her to write a note and put it in the box requesting glasses but due to her stubbornness and pride she won't.
I'm working with the med-jacks, Clint and Jeff, to clean and bandage the arm of a Slicer who cut himself on the knifes that they keep in the smaller room off to the side of the main building that they use to keep the meat frozen, because there are built in AC systems in there. It's hard work, and in the heat of summer I'm sweating. When I've finished dressing the wound I lead him to a small, empty room in the Homestead and tell him to lie down while I pour him a glass of water and set it on the bedside table. He drifts off and I take the jug of icy water and leave him a small, brass bell that he can use it to get one of the med-jacks attention if he needs something.
As I walk down the rickety stairs, Clint rushes past me, causing me to trip and nearly drop the jug of water down the rest of the stairs. "CLINT WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU PLAYING AT!?" I whisper-yell so I wouldn't wake the patients.
"Sorry, but Ably has called an emergency meeting and everyone who is able to needs to be there ASAP." Clint  whisperers back, rocking on the balls of his feet, keen to hurry to the meeting so he won't miss anything.
"Hurry up and go, I need to put this jug of water in the kitchen and then I'll join you," He set of bounding down the stairs but I stopped him, "Catch me up on anything I miss." I tell him and he nods.
I put the water jug back but by the time I reach the meeting it's already over and the walls are due to close at any second. I spot Mapiko running through the North Door and head over to meet her, we meet up and stroll towards the Map Room. Once Mapiko has recorded everything for that day we make our way to Frypan's kitchen and sit down with Minho and Newt. Thomas is nowhere to be seen. "He got his meal early and went to eat in the woods by himself." Newt said when I asked, I don't like him but it doesn't mean that I don't care about him, ever since the news that he was working with the people that put us in here got out he has been avoiding everyone.
"Who cares?" Mumbled Mapiko, her mouth stuffed with baked potato.
"Me."
"Why!?"
"JUST BECAUSE YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE ARE HEARTLESS IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT HE DOESN'T DESERVE A SECOND CHANCE!" I screamed and, getting up from the table, stormed away leaving everybody in stunned silence behind me.
