Overthrown
For a moment there was total confused silence. Then the auditorium erupted in chaos. The crowd was scattering in all directions. The youtubers had vanished. So had the nontubers. Kary pressed a button on her remote and the beam of light brightened again. Animatronics began to form on the stage. There were so many. Too many! As soon as they formed they charged the scattering crowd. Either they didn't see me or they decided to only chase moving targets.
"What are you doing?" Kary demanded. One of the animatronics was approaching her. It looked like a human, a cross between a clown and a little girl. "I created you! Go chase them, Baby!"
"I remember this scenario," a soft girl's voice announced. The animatronic's face burst open and I turned away as Kary screamed. It was time to go.
I ran past the curtains and through the backstage entrance. The sounds behind me slowly faded away as I ran. Before long I found myself alone on the vendor's floor.
How had everything gone wrong so fast? How could the animatronics attack real people in the first place? And where had the youtubers gone?
I heard footsteps coming towards me. A person? Or one of the nontubers? How dangerous could the nontubers really be? Suddenly I wished I'd done more research on youtubers. Maybe then I would know what I was up against.
Someone grabbed my arm and dragged me behind one of the vendor booths. I yanked my arm away and turned to face my rescuer.
"Matpat?" I demanded. He shushed me and peeked around the corner of the booth. I could still hear the footsteps approaching.
"Do you work here?" he whispered.
"No, I'm one of the presenters," I responded.
"Dang it. I need someone who works here."
"What, that's the only reason you grabbed me?"
Mat shushed me and glanced around the corner again. I did the same.
One of the nontubers was stalking past the booths. It was Psycho. He had a maniacal grin on his face as he glanced around. He also had a knife in his hand. Where'd he get the knife?
"Oh Matty, where'd you go?" Psycho called. "I've got a stab-and-a-half just for you!"
After glancing around for a moment more Psycho continued walking. Mat shook his head and turned to me.
"I knew I shouldn't have started the stab-and-a-half."
"You're a gamer. Why aren't you out there doing something?"
"I am. I'm looking for someone who can get me into the central computer system. And I'm keeping Psychopat away from the crowds of people. And I'm looking for Stephanie. Is that doing enough for you?"
"What happened to Stephanie?"
"Natemare grabbed her near the beginning, when the youtubers split up. I'm assuming that means Nate doesn't have anyone on his tail yet, but I still don't know where to find him or the others."
"Well, leading the nontubers away from the crowd doesn't do any good because Kary summoned all the animatronics from the fnaf series too. Before they ate her."
Mat rubbed his forehead and grimaced.
"So that's another thing to add to my list. Find Mark and avoid the animatronics at the same time."
I'd hate to work with youtubers and help them, but I'd do it if it would save the world. Besides, it beat trying to solve everything on my own.
"I can get you into the central computer system," I said.
"How?" Mat asked.
"They gave all of the presenters the password so we could prepare our consoles. I can get you in the computer if you get us there alive."
"That would have to be Mark's job. He's literally the king of Five Nights at Freddy's. Without his help I doubt we'll even get close to the computer."
"Ok, so how do we find him?"
"Follow the yelling."
