Starlight flickered through a white curtain, the curtain moving softly with the breeze of the night. A quiet whisper of the wind swept throughout the room, lulling the small child back to sleep. A sudden shadow fell across the room, blocking out the pure white light. Merciless brown eyes stared at the child, a sword of flame was lit. Then, as soon as the blade had appeared, it was gone.

As was the child.
