The great beast turned her head, red eyes glowing like death, and rose onto her massive feet. She towered over the trees in which she had lain in, resting herself. Her wings spread open with a large whooshing noise, and she took off, jumping from the ground. Her body slid through the air effortlessly, as if she were weightless in the sky.

The creature soared over Ithia, the small farm town of Yna. Her brief passing brought nothing but wonderment for the citizens, who stopped what they were doing to watch her go by.  Children paused their play to watch the magical sight, and let their heads swivel to watch .

As the creature flew over the fields of Raë, toward the forests of Hiq, she became aware of an unusual presence near her. Swooping down low, landing in the field with a crash, she followed the feeling in her gut until she came to a couple sitting on a cloth, eating their meal while three children ran around, laughing and squealing. A fourth child sat calmly at the edge of the cloth, picking at the frayed edges. The child turned its head in annoyance at its siblings, and caught sight of the creature in the background.

Something twisted in the creature's gut when the child made eye contact. The child, still in a calm demeanour, walked toward the creature, drawn by the same feeling, until it was feet away. The creature had no fear, for what harm could a child do? She lowered her head, laying it upon the ground.

The child outstretched a tiny hand, and ran it across the smooth white scales. The creature let out a heavy sigh, comfortable in the presence of the child.

The sigh alerted the couple, who came running the second they heard it. They scooped up the child, fearing danger, turned, and scampered away. The child turned its head to the creature, clearly distressed to be taken away so soon.
The creature lifted her head and took flight once more, beating her great wings until she rose over the trees.
