Chapter Song: NF- If you want love.
Two months.
Two months since he'd last held her.
A month since he'd last seen her and yet he remembered the sparkle in her dark orbs while she laughed through his laptop.
She was going to school that day... She was going to be locked in a boarding school, they weren't going to see again till her holidays.
And he was trying his hardest to make her happy.
Right now,he presumed they were probably writing their first C.A test. Always four weeks after school resumed.
What was she doing right now?
What time was it back there?
It was 7:52am right now and his rough calculation told him it was 3:52pm back there.
She'll probably be walking to the auditorium with Jasmine, Silvana and that gay kid. She'll walk into the auditorium and they'll continue their journey to the Cafeteria.
Who was her dance partner now?
Arthur?
Well he's always been her dancing partner, he didn't like it. But there was this dancing connection, they both shared.
Something about how her body fit perfectly with his dancing. He never liked it, but he knew it was his fault they both learnt how to coordinate with each other's body.
She'd made him more reserved.
He'd brought her out of her depressed cell, a cell that'd captivated her and held her against her will.
In a way they both complemented and fixed each other, too bad they were miles away and he couldn't tell her.
"Ugh." Rooney groaned and made his way down the stairs.
A smug smirk played on his lips as he looked around the five bedroom house, his mother and his sisters had really outdone themselves with the interior design.
Every wallpaper coordinated and matched the doors.
"Rooney baby. You're up. " His mother stated as he walked to the kitchen.
"Mumci. Morning. " He muttered placing a kiss on her cheek.
"Only her you're seeing ba? " Favour, his older sister asked playfully.
"How would he see you? Are you someone important? " Darrel, his older brother asked.
Darren should say something in about... 3-2..1-0
"Wonder oh. Abeg put your filthy legs down let me pass. " Darrel, Darren's twin pushed at his sister's legs crossed in front of him. She sat on the Island beside her mum who was cutting a bun.
Rooney chuckled at his family, inside they were fully Nigerian.. Insulting and teasing, but outside they were professional rich black people.
Black people.
"Baby. Are you ready for school?" His mum asked looking up to stare at him.
He knew his family originally were never just above rich, but he'd expected to live in a much smaller house than this...
He didn't expect his brother's to drive huge cars. Or his mother to own a sleek Mercedes Benz.
But then again, cars weren't that high priced and valued over here.
Although taxes placed on everything was meant to drain them financially... It didn't.
Yes, he knew his mother's business was booming. She owned two oil and petroleum companies back in Nigeria. There was at least two fueling station in every city, it was a household name and he knew it's one of the reasons why he had a rose colored view on Nigeria, he'd be surrounded by wealth his entire life.
She'd expanded recently and bought shares almost everywhere abroad and hence the need to relocate her entire family abroad. Plus she had royalty running in her veins.
Rooney wasn't interested in that area since he wasn't going to end up a king.
Which sucks, Munachi would've made a great queen.
He was extremely proud of his single mother.
Even though the memories were vague and old he remembered watching his mother cry and morn the death of her husband.
His father.
He knew his father didn't die young, at least fifteen years older than his mother, his mother turned 50 the last year which was what kickstarted her desire to leave Nigeria. The age difference was what had spiked rumours about how she'd poisoned him for his money.
Even though the real story could not even align with the rumor that'd gone round.
His father had died from a heart attack, even with the millions surrounding him there was no ambulance available in time and their family doctor could do nothing over the phone, so Rooney went to school in the morning with his father alive and returned back from school in the afternoon with his father now dead.
But the rumors was that she killed him to inherit everything he had.
Nigerian people and that sad mentality of being useless without a man.
Your source of income generally must be questioned without a man by your side.
Which was stupid cause she wasn't some broke gold digger, in a weird way it was confirmed that his mother did love his late old father.
She refused to eat for a week, just crying in his private library, screaming and sleeping in there everyday for two weeks only wearing his clothes, using his brush, watching clips they'd made of their children while growing up.
It was an arranged marriage, but he was her first love, her first and last everything.
"Yeah. I am. " Rooney replied grabbing a cheese burger off a plate.
"Cool. I have a meeting by 8:30. So let's go. " Rachael Edwin told her son while grabbing her coat.
"Mum. When am I getting my own car? " he asked his mother who was busy buckling her seat belt beside her.
"When you get your driver license!"his mother snapped at him and he groaned.
"Muuuum! I'm trying but it's so difficult. Like I always have a white instructor... And they're usually so racist or their skin is so disgusting... " his mother shut him up.
"Racist koh ni koh. What is a Racist?! Look, you're in a white man's country. Ignore and move on with your life. Simple! You are now 18 years old, act like a man and just suck things up!" she yelled again pulling up to his school driveway.
"And see eh. Obi'm(My heart) In this country you can't pick up a car and drive. They'll give you tickets and you'll pay a fine, if you don't get sent to prison self. " his mother said and she switched off her ignition.
"So pay attention in your driving classes and then we'll see what I can do. " she reached out to peck him.
He smirked, his mother always did this..
Scold and promise, forget, scold and promise again...
Certain days she got him what he wanted almost as quickly as he asked for it.
Maybe today would be among those days.
"Okay. See you at home. Bye. " he got down from the car,
"Bye love! " she yelled and Rooney ignored her.
"Yo bro! " someone strapped an arm round his shoulder immediately.
"When yoh mama gonna stop taking yoh ass to school?" Nicky his make shift bestie teased and he also ignored him.
He didn't know the answer to that question, since his house was barely miles away and he could just walk it.
His mom just liked 'bonding' with the baby of her house.
"I hear we having algebra pop quiz today. " Nicky said.
"Where'd you hear that from?" Rooney asked.
"Tiana. She having a fling with that old Harper dude and he leaked it to her. "
Rooney did not appreciate Nicky's vocabulary, it annoyed him how he had to write the IELTS while citizens spoke like this.
"Oh. I'm not prepared. " Rooney answered honestly sitting down at his chair in homeroom.
"Me neither bro. That's why I'm suddenly dating Brenda, algebra period. " Nicky said with a frown.
Rooney laughed.
"Desperate much? "
"Super." Nicky answered and their homeroom teacher, Mister Cosmo walked in.
He was a black man and Rooney felt comfortable with him.
"Howdy y'all!" Mister Cosmo yelled,
Rooney highly suspected their teacher was bipolar, with different personalities stuck in one body.
And today he was going with the cowboy accent, complimenting it with a cowboy hat and boots.
"Howdy! " Rooney yelled back with a chuckle.
"Stop it. You're encouraging him. " Nicky whispered behind him and the infamous Tiana walked in.
Her steps seemed bold and steady, she reminded Rooney of Chiamaka but maybe, more sluttier.
Or maybe more 'Sexually Liberated' or whatever Favour had preached to him days ago.
She was now a feminist. Rooney didn't honestly care, but she was constantly using his body as prop to practice feminist talks for the TED show she'd joined, which he found annoying.
"Howdy Mister Cosmo! " she smirked at him popping a bubble gum in her mouth.
"Miss Tiana. "Mister Cosmo replied with a curt bow.
"Hey Rooney. " she waved at him and Rooney nodded.
"Hey Nicks." she paused inbetween Rooney and Nicky's desk.
"Hiya Babe." Nicky replied.
"You're coming over to my party right? My, um small get together to welcome the new cheer leaders. " she explained and Nicky nodded.
"Wouldn't miss it for duh world. " Tiana giggled.
"Great! Rooney would you make it? " She turned and gave all her attention to him.
"Not sure. " he muttered.
"Oh cool. The football team is also going to be there and a few soccer dudes. Just saying and we'll have fun. " she said slowly.
"Oh. Okay. " Rooney looked away.
Tiana bent low to whisper in Nicky's ear after giggling excessively again.
Thrusting her butt in Rooney's face as she did so, Rooney stared strangely at it.
Then she sat up suddenly and winked at him before walking over to her sit.
Rooney felt embarrassed, like he'd been caught ogling her butt with the suggestive way she winked at him.
"What'd she tell you? " Rooney asked.
"Are you gay?. " Rooney froze up, ready to burst into laughter.
" Anita Ama." Mr Cosmo's voice was loud as he called out the names on the registrar.
