Oakenpaw woke up yawning,"hmm", he said unaware it was still dark out. He lumberd out of the apprentices den and watched the beautiful sun rise. "Your up early", said a dark voice behind him. He looked over his shoulder and saw Eaglefang sitting behind him," I could say the same about you", he grinned. "Well as long as your up let me show you around", Eaglefang rumbled. " Thanks, but jaystone already did that", Oakenpaw said . "Not the camp, the forest", Eaglefang padded away flicking his tail, a motion to follow him. Oakenpaw jumped to his feet and padded with him.
" And this is the training hollow, we practice fighting here", Eaglefang said finishing the tour. "Mmmmm", Oakenpaw stated sniffing the air," mice". "Your very good Oakenpaw I haven't even taught you how to hunt", Eaglefang purred proudly. " I taught myself",Oakenpaw said getting in a hunting crouch and catching a mouse. Eaglefang and Oakenpaw walked into camp proudly, all the apprentices and their mentors looked jealous and whispered to each other ," how did Oakenpaw catch a mouse so quickly?" "He hasn't had any training" " Eaglefang wants my apprentice to look bad", said reedwhisker snarling. Oaken law proudly placed his mouse in the fresh kill pile. Badgerpaw came up and sneered"Eaglefang caught that for you just to make you look good" "no, actually I caught it myself", Oakenpaw said proudly snapping his teeth. " Sure,"snorted badgerpaw. Reedwhisker yowled to badgerpaw," come on you mouse, get up, we are battle training!" "But I haven't finished my-" " never mind that get up and follow me",ordered reedwhisker. Badgerpaw lumbered to his feet and followed reedwhisker. Darktail padded up to Oakenpaw,"did you really catch that?"
"Yes I did", he replied.
" did Eaglefang teach you?"
"No"
Darktail snorted and headed out of camp with Applepaw. By noon the fresh kill pile was over flowing with mice, voles, birds, magpies, and some squirrels. All the apprentices  wore out and just fell into their nests. However Eaglefang wasn't ready to get shown up. Oakenpaw and him were training at camp instead of outside. Oakenpaw already could do some of the most  difficult moves. "Tired?", Oakenpaw asked flopping down in his nest. " Very", badgerpaw replied stretching," five mice in one day!" " that doesn't sound that hard", Oakenpaw said listing all the moves that he completed with flying colors. Ignoring him badgerpaw looked outside the den  starring at the gray clouds," its gonna storm tonight ",he said nuzzling his soft moss," best be ready when she hits"
