Tina gasped as the shed door opened to reveal a large space. The interior of the case was enormous. She was impressed. The amount of spellwork that had gone into creating that space must have taken ages.

A low hum filled her ears. She could hear the calls of many unknown creatures. Glancing around, she saw creatures flying overhead and more moving around on the ground. There were a number of large enclosures dotted around the place, most of them made of canvas held up by a wood frame.

The place felt alive. Tina felt as if she could never be unhappy down here. Part of her felt like she could stay down here forever. She felt at home.

"You made all this?" she asked, her voice full of awe.

Newt felt a small smile creep onto his lips. "Yes. I started shortly after I was expelled from school. I've been expanding it ever since. Every time I get a new creature, it gets bigger."

Tina glanced at him. "You were expelled?"

Newt blushed slightly. He hadn't meant to say that, it had just come out. "Well, yes. It's complicated. Maybe I'll tell you again someday."

"Again?"

"I've told you before," Newt said, a hint of sadness creeping into his voice. "You just don't remember."

Tina looked at him. She suddenly felt sorry for him, and annoyed at herself for doing so. "Look, Mr. Scamander," she said softly. "I'm sorry I don't remember who you are. I don't even remember what happened to me."

"I know," Newt murmured. "And it's not your fault. Please don't blame yourself."

"But what if it is my fault?" Tina demanded, a frown forming on her forehead. "What if my accident was something I could have avoided?"

Newt turned suddenly, grabbing Tina by the shoulders and forcing her to look at him.

"Listen to me, Tina," he said firmly. His use of her first name sent a shiver down her spine.

"I'm sure it wasn't your fault," he insisted. "Don't you dare tell yourself that you were responsible for your accident. I'm sure if we asked Harper he'd tell you that it wasn't your fault."

"Who's Harper?" Tina asked, trying to distract herself from the feeling of Newt's hands on her shoulders.

Newt dropped his hands to his sides. "He's your partner, or was. He was the Auror who was in the room when you woke up."

"Oh."

"Now come," Newt said after a moment's pause. "Let me show you around."

Newt showed her around the case, telling her about the different creatures.

"What are these?" Tina asked curiously as they approached the round bamboo nest that held the Occamies.

"They're, uh, O-Occamies," Newt said. "Here."

Tina watched as he reached out and picked up one of the blue-green, snake-like creatures. Then he turned and offered it to her.

"What?" she gasped. "You want me to hold that?"

"Are you afraid of it?" Newt teased.

"No," she said sharply. Then her voice took on a more hesitant tone. "I'm just afraid I'll hurt it."

"You won't," he assured her. "This one knows you. Just hold out your hands and I'll put him in them."

Tina hesitantly raised her hands and Newt gently placed the scaly creature on her palms. She stared at it and it turned to look at her. Their eyes met. It flapped its wings, letting out a soft call. Newt watched her carefully, looking for any sign of recognition in her eyes.

"Just don't pet him," he cautioned.

"Why?" Tina asked, carefully handing the iridescent creature back to him. He returned it to its nest.

"Becasue the shell of their eggs are made from silver. They're very valuable so the Occamies quickly learned to defend themselves."

"Ah," Tina murmured.

Newt motioned for her to follow him again. They took a few steps to a large island, floating a foot above the wooden ground. A tree was growing on top of it, its roots sticking out the sides and bottom. A hole in the rock showed a burrow lined with gold. He reached inside and pulled out the squirming black creature.

"I'm not stealing any of your treasure," Newt murmured as the creature struggled in his hands. "I just want to introduce you to Tina. She doesn't remember you."

A small smile formed on Tina's lips as he held up the furry creature.

"This is the Niffler," he explained. "Just be careful not to let him steal your necklace."

Tina reached forward and gently petted the creature. Its fur was soft and silky.

"He's cute," she said.

"He's quite the handful," Newt laughed. "He's caused more trouble than he's worth." Then his voice softened. "But I owe him quite a lot. He's done so much for me."

Tina glanced at him curiously. "Like what?"

Newt blushed slightly. "I'll explain some other time." He turned and slipped the Niffler back in its burrow. "Why don't we go look at something else?"

She nodded and he led her to another part of the case. Eventually, he had shown her everything and they returned to the shed.

"Well, uh--" Newt started, unsure what to say.

"What was there?" Tina asked, pointing to the enclosure across from the door of the shed.

Newt looked at the enclosure. "That was my Thunderbird. I released him two years ago but I couldn't bring myself to change the enclosure."

"Why?"

"Too many memories," he replied with a sigh. "Precious memories."

"Of what?"

Newt blushed. "I -- uh -- I can't tell you right now."

"Oh. Thank you," Tina said softly. "This was amazing. I didn't know you had all this down here."

"I was afraid you'd be upset because of this. You know, because magical creatures are illegal here."

Tina shrugged. "You said you had permission."

"Well, I do."

The door to the shed opened and Queenie stepped out.

"It's lunchtime."

"Okay, thanks," Newt mumbled.

Tina followed her sister into the shed and up the ladder. Newt let out a sigh and moved to follow them as well. Part of him had hoped that being down here would awaken some of her hidden memories, especially when he had shown her the Occamies and the Niffler, but nothing had happened. He crawled out of the case, closing it behind him. Tina was still waiting in the room.

"What took you so long?" she asked, smirking slightly.

Newt shrugged. "I had to close the door."

Tina laughed and turned to leave.

"Tina, wait," he called after her. She stopped and turned. "You, uh--" he stammered, blushing slightly. "You can go down in the case any time you like."

She looked at him, a startled expression on her face. "Oh, thank you," she said. Newt was staring down at the floor again. This habit of his fascinated her. But he wasn't like that down in the case, she realized. When they had been down there he had seemed much more alive and much more comfortable. I felt more comfortable around him down there too.

Tina went into Newt's case multiple times in the next few days. He would feed his creatures twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Sometimes she would watch him as he did this, following him as he moved through the case, and seeing how he fed each of the creatures. After she had done this a few times, he had offered to let Tina help him. She had refused, blushing slightly, and quickly left. She had wanted to accept but she had been too afraid.

Making her way out of the case, she slipped into her room and flopped onto her bed. About half an hour later, she rolled over, facing the bookshelf that sat between the bed and the wall. She had been home for about a week but she hadn't bothered looking through any of her things. She kept telling herself she needed to go through her room and see everything that was different but she hadn't yet. However, as she looked at the shelf, something caught her eye.

There were two books on the shelf, sitting side-by-side, the title written on the blue spine in gold letters. The strange thing was that they were identical.

Sitting up, she reached for the books and pulled them off the shelf. The cover was beautiful. It was a deep blue but was covered in an elaborate gold pattern. The pattern was made up of a number of creatures. In the middle at the top was a monogram made of an 'N' and an 'S'. She read the title: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. The author's name sat right above it.

Newt wrote this book! she realized. She turned it over in her hands and then picked up the second one. It was identical, only a little more worn. But why do I have two copies?

She flipped the cover of the worn book up. Her name was scrawled into the corner of the first page, along with a date. March 20, 1927. She guessed this was the date she had gotten the book on. Then she realized something. I don't even know what date it is now.

Slowly getting to her feet, she started towards the door, taking the books with her. She was going to look for her sister to ask for the date, also hoping Queenie would know why she had two copies of the same book, even if it was Newt's.

Newt had finished in his case and was sitting in the living room when Tina's door slid open.

"Queenie, what month is it?" she called as she came into the room.

"Queenie's not here, Miss Goldstein," Newt explained softly. "She and Jacob went back to their hotel."

"Oh," Tina said, turning to go back into her room.

"It's September," he added.

She stopped suddenly and turned to look at him. "Pardon?"

"It's September," he repeated, getting to his feet. "September 27, actually."

"Oh," Tina murmured. She looked ready to turn around again.

"You know, you can ask me questions and you could stay out here with me," Newt said. "I am the one taking care of you right now."

Tina's gaze darkened, staring at him defiantly. "Who said I needed taking care of?" she demanded.

"Are you working right now?" he asked gently. "Are you making any money?"

She stared at the ground. "No." She looked up suddenly. "But neither are you. You're just sitting here, in my apartment."

"I do make money. I wrote a book that's doing relatively well and I'm making quite a lot of money from it," Newt explained. "I've got more money now than I've had in my whole life and I don't necessarily know what to do with all of it."

"Why are you spending your money on me then?" Tina asked. "You have no reason to."

Newt sighed. "Yes, I do. I have a very good reason that I can't explain right now. Besides, I've promised I'll take care of you so I will."

Tina ducked her head, blushing slightly. She was mildly annoyed. She hated the thought of having to depend on anyone, especially a man.

Newt watched her carefully. He knew how she must be feeling. She was used to being the one who had to work for a living. She had grown up taking care of her sister, working to provide for both of them. Now she was forced to stay at home, doing nothing, and trust him, a stranger, to take care of her. He knew he must hate that.

Eventually, Tina spoke again.

"About your book, Mr. Scamander," she started. "Do you happen to know why I've got two copies of it?"

"Yes, I do, actually," he admitted. "If you sat down I could tell you."

Tina hesitated before slowly moving towards the chair. Newt gestured for her to join him on the couch. After another moment's hesitation, she moved towards him, gingerly taking a seat. He reached for her books.

"This one," he said, holding up the worn one. "You bought this one yourself, shortly after it was released. I had promised to bring you a copy but I wasn't able to so you got one yourself. However, I still gave you this copy because it's special." He held up the second book. "You see, it's the first copy that was ever printed. There was a point when it was the only copy in existence."

Tina looked at you curiously. "Why would you give me the first copy of your book?"

Newt bit the inside of his lip. "Th-that's another thing I can't really tell you right now. I'm sorry." He offered her an apologetic look.

She carefully took the second copy from him and opened it to the cover page. She turned the page and found the dedication page. The dedication itself was short, only a line long, but it shocked Tina more than anything had yet.

This book is dedicated to Tina Goldstein.

"You dedicated this to me?" she exclaimed. She looked up at him. "Why?"

Newt shrugged. "You were one of my only friends and you had helped me so I wanted to thank you."

"Oh," Tina murmured. "How?"

Newt looked slightly uncomfortable.

"You can't tell me?" she guessed.

He nodded and she looked back at the book. A handwritten note was scrawled under the dedication.

This copy belongs to Tina Goldstein.

Tina, I want you to always remember that you are an amazing woman. You are very talented, even if the world around you doesn't acknowledge that.

-Newt Scamander

Tina felt a blush forming on her cheeks. Something about the note was making her feel something she had never felt before . . . but she didn't know what it was. Shaking the thought from her head, she suppressed a yawn.

"I want to sleep," she murmured.

"Why don't we go change your bandages and then you can go to bed?" Newt suggested.

Tina nodded and Newt moved to get the box with the bandages. He returned to the couch and began to unwrap the bandage. When it was off, he examined the cut. It was still bleeding slightly so he cleaned it and inspected it again.

"It's healing," he observed. "It's not healing quickly but it's healing."

His gentle fingers smoothed ointment over the cut. It burned for a moment before becoming cool and soothing. Tina focused on the feeling of Newt's fingers on her forehead. She didn't know why the feeling fascinated her but it did. His touch was gentle. And then it was gone.

She glanced his way to watch as he unrolled a clean bandage. He held it up and slowly wrapped it around her head. Gently pulling it tighter, he stuck it in place with a spell. She was amazed by how expertly he was able to get it just to the right tightness. It was never too loose but it never felt like it was restricting her head.

"There we go," Newt murmured. "All done."

"Thank you," Tina replied softly.

A/N: I hope you enjoyed. Please vote and comment.

The title of this chapter is "Libri" which means books. I don't think I need to explain why.

I'M BACK! I wanted to update the last two days but, due to some unfortunate circumstances, I didn't have a laptop so I couldn't. But I'm back again!

I'll see if I'll get another chapter done later. I've got a very long weekend right now. It's the 22nd and I don't have school today. School starts again on the 27th. The reason for this is that some of the students are hiking Mt. Kenya. My whole family is going so I'm home alone. I went two years ago and I'm not interested in going back.

Have a good day!

Bye!
