Chapter 11
"Doctor." Clara smiled pouring coffee into a mug that next morning and passing him a cup and pouring some for him too. He took it and sipped it a few time before realising it really was too hot to drink and left it alone for a bit.
"Where's Maia?" He asked her gently, knowing where she was but was making conversation. He also knew that Harry left very early this morning for work leaving Clara alone all day other than the company of himself.
"She's in the front room for a sec watching TV. I was just grabbing a drink for her and myself." Clara held up a bottle of milk and then sipped her coffee motioning towards the drinks.
"Ah." He followed her into the lounge where the TV was on and Maia was sat perfectly in her pyjamas waiting for her milk and watching the TV like it was her religion. "You sleep okay?" The Doctor asked sitting in his usual seat, the arm chair while Clara sat on the sofa.
"Perfect. Great. Brilliant." Clara hummed as she tried to get Maia to stop shaking her bottle and spilling it everywhere.
"You know, I almost believed you up until brilliant." The Doctor flashed a cheeky smile at Clara as she sat down comfortable once again.
"Honestly. I slept perfectly fine." Clara defended.
"Really?" The Doctor raised his eyebrows and leant forward and closer to Clara.
"I guess you heard then?" Clara growled unhappily as she watched Maia carefully.
"Yeah, you were right outside my door yesterday Clara." The Doctor rolled his eyes dramatically and laughed shaking his head.
"It was just a silly argument. My fault I forgot to tell him I cancelled my plans to go out." Clara laughed gently as she then took the bottle from Maia as she had drunk a lot of it but was now just playing with it and in the process spilling the contents everywhere.
"Silly argument?" The Doctor exclaimed. "He hit you!"
"Hit me? No!" Clara frowned at him as if he was insane. "Look he never hurts me, never would." She laughed light-heartedly.
"Uh..." The Doctor stood up and dashed across the room and grabbed her wrist pulling each sleeve of her jumper up over her elbows. "He hurt you here." The Doctor pointed out rather annoyingly for Clara, meaning she had to explain. Again.
"I told you that was an accident. He didn't realise he was hurting me." Clara shook her head trying to get out of this situation ASAP knowing that the last thing she wanted was to let a stranger know that her boyfriend was abusing her.
"They've got worse since I last saw them! He's not doing this by accident Clara! God wake up and smell the roses." He shouted at her.
"You're starting to sound an awful lot like him, please go of my wrist." Clara mumbled getting squeamish at his touch as it reminded her of Harry and that is the last thing she needed.
"Sorry." He let go lightly letting her hand fall back onto her lap. He made his way back over to his chair and sat down again calming himself and rubbing his forehead before glancing at Maia himself, checking if she was alright. He was becoming like Clara, always looking out for Maia.
"You know I uh... I think ill be going away for a bit." The Doctor confessed being able to see the Tardis from the window beside him, all the way down the street.
"Oh uh..really?" Clara panicked, The Doctor was her safety net always there in case things did go from bad to worse between her and Harry. She had gotten used to him, being around the house and looking after Maia.
"Yeah, not for long, a few months. Australia again maybe." He mumbled.
"Oh, oh alright." She agreed.
"You could come with us." The Doctor offered.
"I couldn't. I have Maia..." Clara trailed off. "A long flight with a 11 months year old. I don't think people will be too pleased with me." The Doctor had an answer to this of course The Tardis, but he didn't want to introduce her to the Tardis all over again. He just wanted her to remember him.
"Ah, fair enough." The Doctor said slowly. "Maybe next time."
"What will you be doing?" She asked him.
"I'm not quite sure yet." He hummed continuing to stare out of the window at the Blue box down the road. Except he knew what he was going to do. Give them some room. Leave Clara alone for 3 or 4 months then come back...maybe?
"Oh ok." Clara said unevenly. "When will you go..its just we'll need to know."
"Oh ill still pay rent. Ill be back, I promise." The Doctor laughed finally glancing over at Clara who looked deeply hurt by this and was almost crying. "It'll give you two time to sort your stuff out." The Doctor nodded.
"Ah yes, of course. Except there isn't really anything between Harry and I." Clara protected them well.

"Clara." Harry smirked as he walked in the door at almost midnight. "Clara where the f--"
"No swearing. Maia is just in bed in the other room." Clara appeared out of the door to the living room and frowned at the sight of Harry.
"Where's weird spacey dude?" Harry insulted The Doctor walking into the lounge.
"He's on holiday for a bit."Clara told him. "He left this evening." She said rather sadly and Harry detected she was disappointed and took that the wrong way.
"Why are you upset? You having an affair with him?" Harry sat beside Clara on the sofa and pushed her up against the side of the sofa and spat in her face.
"No! God no! Not my type. I hardly know him." Clara tried to push him away desperately.
"Doesn't stop him from having a go at this." Harry pressed his lips against Clara's in a violent way and she recoiled. This was not to his liking. "What? You afraid to fucking kiss me now? All I did was hit you. You hit me all the fucking time." He defended himself.
"Language." Clara protested.
"Shut the fuck up." He spoke before sticking his tongue down her throat and violently kissing her. Luckily he went no further, he just got up and went to bed. Tonight though, she did have to join him in bed and that was a nightmare of hers.
