Chapter Seven
Since I ended the last chapter on a sad note I thought I would write another chapter *eyes @casbean * Warning: Mention of self harm and suicide
Dean and Charlie rushed over to Cas' house. The whole ride over was silent with some occasional sniffing. Dean had barely parked before Charlie flew out of the car and ran up the front steps. Dean followed behind her. They pounded on the door for a good two minutes before Cas came to the door. He looked tired and his eyes were red, like he had been crying. He was wearing a huge, long sleeved sweater.
The sleeves came past his hands. In any other situation Dean would have thought it was adorable, this was not the case. He rubbed his nose, "Hey guys. What's up?" Charlie pushed past him, "Cut the crap and roll up your sleeves," she snapped. Dean slipped inside and closed the door behind him. Cas rolled his eyes and pulled the sleeves up, there was nothing. There were scars from previous times but besides that his wrists were clean. Charlie pulled him into a tight hug, "So you finally came to your senses huh?" Cas smiled sheepishly, "It's not what he would have wanted, you know? Plus I got asked out today." Charlie smirked, Dean tried to swallow the lump in his throat. Adam was a pretty okay guy sometimes but he was kind of a douche. "Oh? And who asked you out?" Cas smiled, "A guy named Adam." Charlie stopped smiling. Then she turned to Dean and glared at him. She spun on the heel of her high tops and smiled sweetly at Cas, "That's great Cassie! I gotta go, see you later." She patted his head and slipped out the door.
Dean smiled at Cas, he hugged him tightly. "You okay?" Cas sniffed, "Yeah I'm fine," he said softly. Dean looked down, "So Charlie told me something today. Care to elaborate on her story?" Cas gulped, "She told you huh?" Dean nodded, "What the hell were you thinking?!" Cas looked at the floor, "I was fourteen, my dad had just died and my brother Gabriel and I were going to be separated, since I was older I was going to be sent to live with family and he was going to a foster home. I figured they'd be better off without me. And that's how I met him, they brought me in, I was barely conscious but I saw a guy by my hospital bed. He told me I was too young to be pulling shit like this. He just hung around until I was discharged, he drove me home and he kissed my on my porch. The next day he introduced me to Charlie. A year later he told me he loved me, then he killed himself. And that's the story of why I promised myself I wouldn't fall in love." Cas had started crying by now, Dean hugged him tightly around the waist and Cas wrapped his arms around his neck.
Cas eventually fell asleep like that and Dean carried him bridal style up the stairs. He laid next the Cas and fell asleep.
He woke up a few hours later, Cas wasn't there. He walked around the house until he came to the bathroom, the door was closed. He slowly opened it to find Cas sitting cross legged in front of the toilet, he was throwing stuff in it. Dean walked up behind Cas and looked over his head into the toilet, he was throwing razor blades in it. Dean sunk down next to him and put his hand on Cas' shoulder. "I'm proud of you," he whispered. Cas smiled softly, he stood up and flushed the toilet. "Thank you Dean."
They went back up to Cas' room. "So, you used to be a punk? Ya got pictures?"Cas smiled. "Somewhere around here." He rolled of the bed and opened his closet. He went to the top shelf and reached in the back. He pulled out an old metal lockbox, the paint was peeling and the handle squeaked. He placed it gently on the bed. Dean picked it up and looked at it as Cas went into the drawer to find the key to open it. There was writing on it, 'Hey Cassie, I'm giving you this old box cause you're a weirdo and you appreciate the stupid shit I give you. There's stuff inside too, Happy Birthday. I love you. ~Josh' the handwriting was messy but still readable. Cas came back with a key and unlocked the box. Inside were pictures and a plastic baggie containing a nose ring, a lip ring, and what looked like a tongue piercing. Dean raised an eyebrow, "These yours?" Cas smirked, "Damn straight Winchester, I was badass." Dean rolled his eyes and picked up a picture it was Cas, he looked younger. he was wearing a Metallica shirt, black skinny jeans, black high top converse, and a lot of piercings. He was standing next to a taller guy, his hair was dark brown with blue streaks. He was wearing similar clothes and was smoking a cigarette. They were both smiling. "Is that him?" Cas nodded.
Cas picked up the box and pointed to the words, "He gave me this for my birthday, it was the first time he 'told' me he loved me. He killed himself a few months later." Dean rubbed Cas' back to comfort him. "What was inside?" Cas dug under the pictures and pulled out a string, there was a small angel pendant attached to it.
Dean pulled off the Samulet and handed it to Cas, "My brother gave this to me, will you hold onto it for me?" Cas' eyes widened, "No Dean I can't, your brother gave it to you." Dean shook his head, "It's just insurance to make sure you stick around okay?" Cas nodded and slipped it on, "Thank you Dean."
