Backstory: His father left him in care of the castle staff when he was very young and went off to hunt masklings. He came back later with his stepmother Freyaa and his newly arrived brother Spider. They lived together as a family for a while before Freyaa snuck into Jay and Spider's bedroom one night and bit Jay's neck, attempting to kill him. It was unsuccessful and she was caught by Sol and kicked from the castle. Sol left once again to chase after Freyaa and the Masklings and Jay's condition grew steadily worse, infecting his front legs and the base of his tail, he wrapped the infected flesh in bandages to help and it has helped slightly, though the doctors have said that he will not live a long life with this disease and there is no cure. He was lucky to survive being bit in the first place.
