I was in my room making my necklace when my phone rang. I looked at my phone to see was. It was Dawn. "Hello?" I asked. "NEON!!!! Guess what?!!!" she practically screamed into the phone. "What is it? And calm down, girl!" I said. In a quieter voice (still pretty loud), she said," The cutest boy just asked me out on a date!!!"
"That's amazing!!!" I squealed, " Remember, don't let him see your wings, your tail, and ESPECIALLY not your powers!!! Remember what happened last time?" "Yeah, I know," she replied.

Last time we revealed our powers to a guy, he freaked out and tried to take us to a lab to be experimented on. Luckily we escaped, but we had to move away so they wouldn't find us again.

"Okay, I have to go or I'll miss my date," Dawn said, breaking me out of my thoughts, " See you tomorrow?" "Sure," I replied, and hung up.

I strung the last few pearls on the necklace and I was done. The sand dollar was in the center(obviously), and it had a bunch of creamy white pearls on either side. The sand dollar shimmered like a thousand fireflies when the light hit it just right. I put it on and went downstairs where my sister was watching TV and my mother, Gem, was cooking dinner.

"Hey, Neon," they said in unison. So I replied with,"Hey, what's up?" "Just finished cooking dinner. Did you make that necklace, hon?" mother said. "I just finished making it," I said," Mmm. Dinner smells good!"

"Spinach casserole, you and your sister's favorite!" she exclaimed, proudly. My mouth began to water as the sent of dinner, spinach casserole, mashed potatoes and hard-boiled eggs, reached my nose. I filled my plate and sat down, followed my my sister and mother.

After we ate, I went upstairs to my room and fell asleep, not knowing what lied in store for us tomorrow.
