'she's caught between who she really is and who she wishes she was.'

BEFORE FAYE could even comprehend what was happening, Allison had pulled out her phone and dialed a number. The crossbow remained in her other hand as she lifted the phone to her ear. The brunette sucked on her bottom lip and her eyes lit up as the phone stopped ringing. "Scott," she whispered, the shadow of a smile haunting her rosy lips. "You need to get here as fast as you can. They're trying to get into the house."
"Allison, I'll be there as soon as I can," Scott vowed through the small device. Allison held her crossbow closer for comfort.
"Please hurry Scott," Allison pleaded. "Faye's here."
The muffled voice went silent for a few moments before it replied. "I'm on my way."
Another sound came from the back of the house, and Faye found herself trembling. Allison ended the phone call and pointed at the stairs with her crossbow. "Stiles, get Scott's baseball bat. Faye, find something is his room to use as a weapon."
"And what are you going to do?" Faye questioned as she began to follow Stiles up the stairs.
Allison pulled out an arrow and loaded the crossbow, a smirk on her face. "What I do best." The sound of a door swinging open shocked all three of them. "Go, go now!"
Faye raced up the stairs behind Stiles and followed him to Scott's room. The buzz cut boy pushed open the door, and went into the closet while Faye stood and admired Scott's room. For a boy's room, it was unusually neat. There was two shaggy burgundy carpets on the floor, one of them in a circle shape and the other one in a square shape. A neat desk sat in the corner to her left, and a bed with an old comforter stood before her.
"Take this," Stiles grumbled, handing Faye a skateboard.
"What the hell am I supposed to use this for?" Faye argued, her fingers clutching the rough surface of the board.
"I don't know Faye. Maybe you could go skateboarding down the stairs," Stiles replied sarcastically, ignoring Faye's scared look. A loud thump echoed through the small house, and Faye swung the skateboard, shocked by the deafening noise. It whacked Stiles on the shoulder, and he let out a yelp.
"Damn it Faye!" Stiles snapped.
"I'm sorry," She apologized, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
He sneered and opened the bedroom door to find Erica standing outside it.
"Surprise!' she exclaimed. Her eyes faded into a vibrant yellow and Faye let a startled gasp through her lips. Her teeth extended into sharp canines and a low hum escaped her mouth.
"Remain calm," Stiles murmured to a cowering Faye behind him. A cracked battle cry pierced Faye's ear as Stiles swung the bat forwards. Erica ducked down, easily avoiding the wood.
"What do we do now?" Faye questioned as Erica pushed Stiles to the ground. The scrawny teen scrambled upwards and held the bat in front of him.
"Plan B," Stiles stated. "Run."
The teen pushed past Faye and Erica, leaving Faye alone with her friend. Her knees trembled in Erica's presence and a sick feeling pooled in the bottom of her stomach.
"Where's Lydia, Faye?"
"I don't know," Faye said in a quiet voice as she took a step backwards. She held the skateboard in front of her body, shielding her from the monster that was in front of her.
"I'm not going to hurt you Faye," Erica stated, "I promise."
"You lied to me." Faye lowered the skateboard to look at her friend. Her eyes were still yellow, but her canines had shrunken back to normal.
"I had no choice Faye."
The blonde shook her head, her braid swaying against her neck. "You did. And you chose wrong."
Knowing deep in her heart that the blonde wouldn't hurt her, Faye pushed past her friend and tried to locate Stiles and Allison. She could hear shouting in the other room, so Faye ran to it to find Stiles swinging the bat towards Isaac. Isaac grabbed the bat and threw it to the ground. Stiles just stared at the boy in incredulity. The brunette boy gave a choked laugh and then turned around, bolting once again from the danger.
"Hey hothead," Isaac said with a wink. "Where's Lydia?"
"Why does everyone keep asking me? I don't know!" Faye swung the skateboard in frustration, aiming for Isaac's head. The bronze haired boy grabbed a hold of it and snapped it into two as if it was a pencil.
"Unlike Erica," Isaac said, "I will actually hurt you. I'm going to give you one more chance. Where is Lydia?"
"I don't know!" Faye yelled. Isaac growled and his eyes morphed into gold and claws the size of razors shot out of his fingers. He pulled his hand back to attack Faye, but the moment his hand came down, Faye caught it. The sudden burst of strength made the boy surprised, and he wiggled his wrist in her grip. Her fingers tightened around Isaac's forearm, turning his creamy skin into a light shade of red.
Unaware of what she was doing, she clenched her fingers until her bones poked her skin and her knuckles turned white. A strange feeling enveloped the blonde, and she found herself staring at her forearm. The dark blue and purple veins in her forearm grew darker and turned black. The black crawled up her arm and to her fingers, where her fingertips soaked up the darkness. Isaac's pupils widened as he watched Faye's eyes went from azure blue to a fiery orange. A low grumble was produced in the back of Faye's throat as she watched her fingertips sink into Isaac's skin.
He howled from the pain of the burn and attempted to retrieve his arm back from Faye's deadly grip, but that only made the top layer of his skin charred.
"Faye," a voice said. The blonde loosened her grip and her fiery eyes traveled to the doorway where a hesitant Scott McCall was standing with his hand out. His hand shook in the crisp air, but he didn't pull his eyes from Faye's face.
"Let go of him." His voice was calm, but the darkness inside of Faye called her back. Her eyes flickered back to Isaac to see his face contort in pain and sweat dribble down the side of his head.
"Faye," Scott repeated, taking a step forwards. "Please let go." The bond of darkness snapped and Faye fell to her knees, a numbness spreading over her body.
Isaac held his one arm and ran out of the room, while Faye stared at her hands on the floor. Footsteps pulled her attention away, and she looked up, tears threatening to fall from the oceans in her eyes. Scott held out a hand and Faye graciously took it, but altered her gaze back to the floor.
"What's happening to me?" she said in an inaudible voice.
Scott hesitated, then let out a sigh. "I don't know, Faye," he admitted. "But I know that we will figure it out. I promise. I won't rest until we find out the truth."
"Thank you, Scott. I mean it."
He nodded and shoved his hands into his pockets, and walked out of the room, Faye trailing behind him. Downstairs, Erica laid on the ground with an angry look in her eyes and Isaac was held up against the wall by Allison, still holding his burned forearm. The charred skin was slowly replacing itself, but his arm was still red, the shadow of fingertips touching his wrist.
Scott grinned and Allison opened the front door. The tan boy easily picked the two up and threw them out onto the grass, Erica landing with a groan and Isaac cussing. Faye followed Scott, Allison and Stiles out onto the porch, where she saw that Derek was standing.
"Nice work," Derek said. "I can finally see why you don't want to join my pack. You have a pack of your own." Faye shyly hid behind the shoulders of Allison and Scott, and watched as their fingers intertwined.
"It also looks like you've added another human to your pack," Derek added on, his cold blue eyes meeting Faye's. "It's too bad. I think you would've made a fine addition to mine." He smirked.
"She's not human," Scott said. Allison clenched his hand in surprise and Stiles fist pumped the air, muttering a "I knew it." Scott nodded to Isaac. "Look at his arm."
Curiously, Derek pulled Isaac onto his feet and examined his forearm. The black skin was gone, but a slick surface coated his skin in the shape of a hand print. Derek's eyes flickered to Faye's, intimidated by the new supernatural creature. "If she's not human, than what is she?"
"I don't kno-" A loud screech cut Scott off, and the four ran off the porch to look up on the roof. The kanima had climbed out a bedroom window and stood on the roof, licking it's razor sharp teeth.
"I knew it," Derek growled.
"Guys? What's going on?" Lydia walked out of the house, the skin under her eyes tinted pink as if she had just been crying.
"Wait," Stiles said, the gears in his head starting to click. "If Lydia's out here-"
"Jackson," Scott and Derek muttered at the same time.
"It's him," Scott added. "Jackson's the kanima."
Faye looked down at her toes, watching the grass sway under her feet. The ground began to sway under her feet and before Faye knew it, she found herself falling. She collided with the ground and the blackness that once colored her veins now consumed her whole.
