Wonbin x Yonghoon - IDID

 "Don't Do That Again"

"Don't do that."

Yonghoon blinked. "Do what?"

Wonbin stared at him, already tired—and it hadn't even been ten minutes.

"That. Whatever you just did."

"I literally just jumped off a chair."

"Yes," Wonbin said flatly. "Exactly."

"It was like... half a meter."

"You could've slipped."

"I didn't."

"That's not the point."

Yonghoon grinned, completely unbothered. "You worry too much."

"And you don't think at all."

"Balance."

"We're not balancing anything."

Yonghoon hopped onto the chair again.

Wonbin closed his eyes. "If you jump again—"

And he jumped.

Wonbin grabbed him mid-air by the arm.

"Are you serious?" Wonbin snapped, pulling him down. "What is wrong with you?"

Yonghoon blinked, surprised for a second—then smiled.

"...You caught me."

"That's not the point!"

"It kind of is."

Wonbin let go immediately, like he'd just realized how close they were.

"You're impossible," he muttered.

"And you're predictable," Yonghoon shot back. "You always save me."

"I'm not saving you. I'm stopping you from doing something stupid."

"Same thing."

"Not the same thing."

"Sounds the same."

Wonbin turned away, running a hand through his hair. "Just—stay on the ground."

"No promises."

"I'm serious."

"So am I."

Wonbin looked at him again.

Yonghoon was smiling.

Of course he was.

Everyone in IDID knew how this went.

Yonghoon did something reckless.

Wonbin got mad.

Yonghoon laughed.

Wonbin still stayed.

Repeat.

"Hyung."

"No."

"I didn't even say anything yet."

"No."

"Okay but hear me out—"

"No."

Yonghoon grabbed his arm. "Just listen for two seconds."

Wonbin sighed. "Fine. Two seconds."

"I want to try this move."

"Absolutely not."

"You didn't even see it!"

"I don't need to."

"It's not that dangerous."

"You say that about everything."

"Because everything isn't that dangerous."

"You climbed a railing yesterday."

"And I survived."

"That's not reassuring!"

Yonghoon laughed, already pulling out his phone. "Look, it's like this—"

He showed the video.

Wonbin watched for exactly three seconds before shaking his head.

"No."

"Why?"

"Because you're not doing that."

"I can."

"You shouldn't."

"But I can."

Wonbin stepped closer, lowering his voice. "And when you get hurt?"

"I won't."

"You don't know that."

Yonghoon tilted his head. "Why are you so worried?"

"Because you don't think!"

"That's harsh."

"It's true."

Yonghoon's smile softened just a little.

"...You really care, huh."

Wonbin froze.

"...Don't make it weird."

"I'm not," Yonghoon said, still looking at him. "I just think it's interesting."

"What is."

"You act like you're annoyed all the time," he said, quieter now, "but you're always the first to grab me when I do something dumb."

Wonbin looked away. "That's because you always do something dumb."

Yonghoon laughed again. "Fair."

Then, suddenly—

"Okay, I'm doing it."

"What—no, you're not—"

Too late.

Yonghoon was already moving.

"Yonghoon—!"

He jumped.

For half a second, everything was fine.

Then—

His foot slipped.

"—shit."

Wonbin didn't think.

He moved.

Fast.

Grabbing Yonghoon by the hoodie, pulling him forward before he could fall back.

They stumbled together, nearly losing balance—

Then stopped.

Too close.

Way too close.

Wonbin's grip tightened slightly. "Are you insane?"

Yonghoon blinked, breath uneven. "...Okay, that one—might've been bad."

"Might've?" Wonbin snapped. "You could've gotten hurt!"

"But I didn't."

"Because I caught you!"

Yonghoon paused.

Then, softer—

"...Yeah."

Wonbin's chest was rising faster than it should've been.

"You don't get it," he said, voice lower now. "You can't just keep doing things like that."

"Why not?"

"Because—" Wonbin stopped.

Because what?

Because it scared him?

Because every time Yonghoon did something reckless, his heart dropped for a second?

Because he was tired of pretending it didn't matter?

"...Because I won't always be there," he finished instead.

Silence.

Yonghoon looked at him.

Really looked at him.

"...But you always are."

Wonbin didn't respond.

"...You always come back," Yonghoon added quietly. "Even when you're mad."

"That's not—"

"It is."

Yonghoon smiled a little, softer than before. "You act like you don't care, but you do."

Wonbin exhaled sharply. "You're unbelievable."

"And you're bad at lying."

"I'm not lying."

"You are."

Wonbin let go of his hoodie, but didn't step back.

"...Just stop doing reckless things," he muttered.

Yonghoon tilted his head. "Make me."

Wonbin narrowed his eyes. "You really want to test that?"

"Maybe."

For a second, it felt like they were back to normal.

Bickering.

Pushing.

But then—

"Fine," Wonbin said, suddenly grabbing his wrist again.

Yonghoon blinked.

"If you're going to do something stupid," Wonbin continued, pulling him slightly closer, "then at least tell me first."

"...Why?"

"So I can stop you."

Yonghoon smiled.

"...Or catch me?"

Wonbin hesitated.

"...Both."

Yonghoon laughed softly. "You're so predictable."

"And you're still reckless."

"Yeah," Yonghoon said, not pulling away this time. "But you're still here."

Wonbin didn't argue.

Because this time—

He couldn't.
