Fallout 3
The year was 2277...
200 years after the great war between China and America.
The world had fallen into a new destructive world, thanks to the two superpowers as they launched nuclear weapons at one another.
Our story takes place in Washington DC.
We follow the Lone Wanderer... He was born into Vault 101.
And this is his story.
--- --- --- --- ---
I had been walking before even the sun rose... I had been traveling for close to two days now.
Dog meat... My companion which was a german shepherd. Was trotting by my side as we come to the hilltop and when I found the door leading to Vault 101.
I had to stop and think about what I heard over the radio a few days ago...
Amata's Voice... It came out sweet and crisp. Something I'd never thought possible over the radio.
[It feels like you left home a long time ago. But I know you're still out there. I just hope your still alive to hear this... Things got worse after you left, my fathers went mad with power. If you can hear this... Please, stop looking for your dad and help stop mine.]
I took a deep breath and looked at the door leading to the Vault 101.
I promised myself one thing... I never wanted to see this place again... After what my father had done. The friends and people he hurt leaving the vault... I had to run leave my home. But I'm different now.
I was... I am... Someone else.
I told myself that taking a life was fine... So long as I was defending myself.
But... I've killed to survive, I've had to endure. I had to steal.
Those first few days and become something else. Odd though... Sometimes I couldn't walk away from a fight. Yet those trials brought me to my salvation... Taught me lessons that I needed to learn if I wanted to live in this world. Sometimes asking questions later... Were the better choices.
Yet I always told myself to try to be better.
Which is why...
When I got the message over the radio...
I...
I...
I stopped thinking about myself and became concerned and maybe for the first time since coming up here... Terrified. Not for myself. But for her... For Amata.
I felt needed.
Wanted by so3meone else. I haven't felt this way in a long time.
No longer did I feel.
Alone...
It was home wanting me back... Calling me back.
More importantly, they needed me.
Amata needed me.
Now standing in front of the terminal. I started to wonder if maybe I shouldn't be here. My finger was dancing on the button switch that opens the Vault door. I stepped back.
Remember everything I've done... Before, and how I left. My father... Acting out.
Y/N: "I wonder if sins can be forgiven."
Dogmeat: "Rar."
I turned to my traveling companion. My trusted and loyal back-up. Dogmeat, odd name. But it came with the collar and finding the previous owner dead in a ditch wasn't exactly helpful. But he liked me and loved me. Kept me warm, brought my spirits up when things looked the worst.
I needed that now... More than ever.
Y/N: "Hey buddy... Can you help me, if things get too bad in there? Try and stop me."
Dogmeat gives me a nod and licks my fingers, then rubs his head on my leg.
Y/N: "I knew you'd understand... OK..." I took one deep breath and nodded. "OK... I've got this, I can treat wounds and have been more in firefights than I can remember. I can do this... I can do this."
I placed my hand on the lock once more, already putting the code in and pressed the button, watching the vault door creak open.
My 10mm was pistol was already aimed at the vault door and hall... When I noticed the dead bodies near the entrance. I turned to Dogmeat.
Y/N: "Alright boy... Slow and steady."
Dogmeat gives me a gruff, meaning he knows and we step into the vault... But when I studied the insides of the entrance... I holstered my weapon as I found only two dead bodies. I knelt beside one of the bodies and pinched the bridge of my nose.
Y/N: "Jim... and Steve... What on earth happened here?"
Dogmeat: "GRRRR!!!"
I turned towards dogmeat, finding him with aradroach locked into his jaw. With one quick swing of his head, the radroachstruck the bunkers wall... The creature dead as its body still shakes

Then I heard a rustle of wings and found six or seven more radroaches heading towards us. I went for the machete on my hip and lift the weapon over my head, then swing it down and to the side killing two of the creatures in one strike.
Y/N: "To think... I was once scared of these things."
With another quick swing of the blade another falls, while dogmeat takes another by himself. As the creatures found their fallen brothers on the floor and in parts, they scattered and went for the entrance of the vault hoping to escape. I turned to dogmeat ready to run after them.
Y/N: "Hold boy... We've scared them... No need to go after them."
We passed another body and found one of the doors leading in closed shut, with a quick hack of a terminal we stepped in. Yet within a second, I heard someone call out to us.
???: "STOP RIGHT THERE!!!"
My hand moved on its own grabbing my pistol and aiming at the man's head, as he slowly stepped out of his hiding spot.
???: "I don't know how you got in here, but... Hold on... Wait a minute! It's you!"
He lowered his weapon, but I kept my weapon aimed at him and remembered his face.
Y/N: "Hey... Officer Armstrong."
He stared at me for a moment and shook his head, placing his weapon in its holster.
Armstrong: "I barely even recognized you with all the dust and grime from out there."
He quickly chuckles and shakes his head. Offering his hand and I stepped back, my weapon was now aimed at the hip. I didn't want this to become a firefight.
Armstrong: "Hey relax kid... I'm not going to hurt you. But I guess that explains how you got in. You've got more experience with that door than anyone down here."
I sucked on my tooth remembering the story and slowly shook my head.
Y/N: "Yeah... I suppose I have. Hey Armstrong-"
Armstrong: "Mr. Armstrong."
I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath.
Y/N: "Listen... Mr. Armstrong, do you know where Amata is? She sent me a message."
I finally holstered my weapon, while the supposed security guard of this vault scratched his neck for a moment.
Armstrong: "Amata... Sent you a message... Wait, was that what she did with the radio." He slapped his helmet and groaned. "Listen, I don't know what you're talking about, but I'd keep that a secret, for her sake and yours. She could get in real trouble if people found out she sent a message out. So could I if the overseer were to know your here."
I showed a weak grin and shrugged my shoulders
Y/N: "Well... He won't. So long as we keep this little secret between us. Now Amata?"
Armstrong: "Right... Right... OK... Just listen to me kid, I'm not looking for a fight. After last night's madness. I don't want to get into another firefight."
I tilted my head and tapped my weapon on my waist.
Y/N: "I wouldn't want to either... So what happened here?"
He took a deep breath and told me everything, even taking off his security helmet.
Armstrong: "Everything... And I mean everything. It just went crazy, that's what happened. Your dad opened that door, bugs started attacking, and people started going crazy. When the smoke cleared, there were a lot of casualties and not many answers..."
He shook his head, finding it hard to believe.
Armstrong: "Didn't help that our only doctor had just left or that our nurse was also killed in the attack. Heck, you could've finally been useful, for once."
I looked the other way... Not wanting to start a fight.
Y/N: "Yeah... I guess I may have been useful, now Amata."
He pointed down the hallway shrugging his shoulder.
Armstrong: "I... Think she's in the old school section. I'm not too sure... Listen you need to get out of here, we're having our little war and-"
He finally looked down and noticed Dogmeat. He nearly wanted to reach out and touch him, after all. It's not like the vault allows pets or anything like that.
Dogmeat growls and he jumped back out of instinct, I leaned down and stroked dogmeat calming him down.
Y/N: "He... Doesn't like strangers."
"Right... Listen, kid, I don't want to tell you what to do... But you should leave."
He puffed his chest and I shook my head, my smile vanishing within an instant. Making dogmeat sink his head into my chest, while I still stroke his back and belly.
"Thanks... But no thanks."
I stood up and stared at him for a moment, then held out my hand wanting to thank him. But he stepped back.
Y/N: "Thanks... For the info."
Like that we walked off... Down the next hall, but I could hear his voice carry on as he mumbled to himself.
Armstrong: "We should've never let you or you're father inside..."
I glanced over my shoulder making him stop for a moment as I sigh.
Y/N: 'This is my home or what's left of it... Guess some things haven't changed.'
We walked down the hall passing another officer, but he was so exhausted that he didn't even notice us passing him by. Even passing a few people that were brave enough to step out of there homes. But they barely even spoke to me... Whether it was due to gear or how I looked, I didn't know. But no one stopped me.
But as we came around a corner, dogmeat starts to growl and I've got my weapon at the ready. Within a second someone jumped out of a hiding spot, he screamed at the tops of his lungs as he charged towards me. My pistol hand moved on its own, quickly smashing the butt of my pistol into his jaw. When he fell to the floor on all fours, Dogmeat charged and was about to bite down on his weapon hand. But when I noticed who it was. I spoke up.
Y/N: "Wow... Boy!"
Dogmeat turns and runs over to my side with the attacker's weapon in hand. I took it as my attacker looked up, he wore that infamous black leather jacket of the tunnel snakes and his hairstyle and mannerisms screamed... of only one person.
???: "SON OF A BITCH!!!"
Y/N: "Butch..."

Butch...
He was my bully in the vault... I swear there were a few times, he scared me. But now... I couldn't understand how.
He held the bridge of his nose as a small trickle of blood gushed out. when he finally noticed who I was... Well, he had to stop for a moment.
Butch: "You shittin me, the weak little daddies boy finally came back!?"
I sighed as he stood up, puffing out his chest as he tried to stare me down.
Butch: "It takes some real balls coming back here after everything you and your dad screwed up."
He pinched the bridge of his nose once more, his nose finally stopped bleeding.
Butch: "But, if you've gotta be back. Might as well make yourself useful."
Y/N: "Excuse me, what makes you think I'm going to help you!?"
I stepped closer to him, just as Butch raises his bloodied finger and taps my chest with a cheeky laugh.
Butch: "Because you're a little-goody-two-shoes, you get off on helping people in trouble."
He spat that last part out, making some of his blood touch my face. He chuckled as he playful slapped my face and before he could even see it coming. I've headbutted him and he toppled over as he grabs his now fracture nose, blood now fully gushing out. As he squirms on the floor letting out screams of pain and curses all in one.
Y/N: "Screw you... You're not as dangerous as you think."
I pulled out an old rag and cleaned my face off, then walked down the hall to see more people, this time. More of the student and people my age. But as I stepped into the actual class of the vault... I found her... She was talking to some of the vault's residents.
Y/N: "Amata..."

I said her name so softly, that I didn't know how... But she turned and spotted me straight away. Then glided over to me, her hands were reached out to me... I stepped back and then felt her soft fingers touch my face.
Instead of moving back, I embraced her touch and grasped her hands in my own. As I looked at Amata, for so long... I had seen this image of this beautiful girl in my head. I'd imagined the time we were sixteen and we started talking about people we'd marry. I never told her the truth... But I wanted to now.
As she uttered this brilliant smile, a smile that melted my heart and made me forget... Everything.
Amata: "Oh my god, you're back. You got my message and came back!"
How long had it been... Since we talked since I had been held and didn't flinch. My eyes closed and I held back a tear.
Y/N: "Amata..." I opened my eyes and smiled. As my hands clutched her own. "It's so good to see you."
Amata: "Wow, is that you Y/N?"
I nodded and she wrapped her arms around my waist and I did the same giving her a tight hug. She did the same and when we finally let go, she let out a small giggle, pinching my right cheek playfully.
Amata: "You're so... Skinny now, don't tell me you've stopped eating outside there?"
I scratched the back of my neck.
Y/N: "You'd be surprised, by what they consider good food up there. But I'll tell you about my stories later on. What happened?"
Amata glanced around the room and lead me into a private room, so no one could see us. We sat at one of the cafeteria benches. We were right across from one another, she took a moment to think it through and spoke up.
Amata: "When you left, we realized something... That we could leave the vault. But my father wouldn't stand for it, and it's just got worse down here. My father won't listen to us and it's getting close to violence now. So we need your help."
Amata took my right hand with her own and grasped it.
Amata: "I... Need your help."
I leaned down and kissed her hand.
Y/N: "You've got it... And you've always had it. What do you need?"
Amata stared at me for a moment then raised an eyebrow at my antics.
Amata: "When did..." She started to blush her pink cheeks making me smile. "What happened to you out there... How did you?"
I chuckled and looked at her hand.
Y/N: "I... Grew up. Knew what I wanted."
Amata stared right into my eyes and smiled.
Amata: "You couldn't be a fake... You've got those eyes, no one can fake those eyes. But, I just wish you could've come sooner. Maybe we might've saved more people... Poor Jonas and the Hannon's, and so many others died that night. It was bad enough they died because my father was trying to keep the door closed. But then I found out it was all to protect a lie!"
She let go of my hand and shook her head, crossing her arms over her chest.
Amata: "I found out... That the vault wasn't always closed. They've lied to us our entire lives."
I sat up and nodded placing my cowboy hat on the desk, giving her a slight nod.
Y/N: "That... Kind of makes sense. When I left the Vault, I found a few Vault 101 jumpsuits. Wondered how they got out there the bodies looked ancient."
Amata grabbed the bridge of her nose.
Amata: " I can't believe this... Jonas died not even an hour ago, and they're keeping us locked in here, all to protect a fantasy of our Vault is the only thing remaining 'Untainted' by the outside world. Doesn't this making you angry?"
I sighed, tapping my thumbs together as i turned back to Amata. Knowing all to well the dangers of the outside world, what this world has to offer and the amount of creepy crawlies that lay in wait.
Y/N: "Are you sure you want to leave? I mean, outside is... Dangerous and in more ways that one."
Amata stared at me for a moment.
Amata: "Are telling me... To stay in an underground bunker for the rest of my life, no all our lives."
I raised my hands as she looked away.
Y/N: "I'm not... saying that. Per-say. But, that world... The world we've inherited, it's not as pretty or colorful as they taught us during class."
Amata glanced over her shoulder and nodded.
Amata: "I get that... But, we have to make a choice. Start anew... I know, I don't know anything about living outside. But, we need to change or we will wither away."
Y/N: "Alright... Alright... What do you suggest?"
Amata: "We don't even have a choice while my father's got the place locked down. Please, something has to be done. You know that better than anyone."
I cracked my knuckles and stood up from my seat.
Y/N: "Alright, so I just need to end this Civil War... We want this to end peacefully, right? So I'll go to the overseer's office and talk with him."
Amata stood up and grabbed my hand holding me in place.
Amata: "Please, be careful... My dad is a lot of things... But he's still my dad."
I nodded and turned to see her holding my hat. She held it so tight she was making it bend, then placed it on my head. Quickly fixing it and giving me the briefest of smiles.
Amat: "Be... Just be safe and please. Try to end this peacefully."
I smiled, then held out my pinkie for her to see and she stared at me.
Y/N: "I've never once broken a pinkie promise."
She gave me a quick wink and our pinkies wrapped around one another, as we quickly promised one another.
Amata: "I promise..."
Y/N: "I promise."
With that done, I called Dogmeat who had been resting on the cold floor not far from the table. He jumped to his feet and quickly yawned then waged his tail happy to go.
[Time Skip]
[3rd Pov]
Amata's father Alphonse was gazing out of his Overseers office. He had his hand behind his back as he looks at the empty section of the vault where his window had been palced. People would walk past the window every day. But now with the Vault as quite as it was... It was daunting to the man.
Only a few minutes ago... Some of his men had offered a rather barbaric plan that they want to implement later on tonight. It was something he disagreed with completely.
Attacking other vault members at the brink of midnight... How could he do that in good consiounes?
However, as his door opened once more. He started to understand how dire this situation is.
Alphonse: "Well isn't this a surprise, you've returned."

Y/N had stepped into the room with dogmeat by his side, the young man had one of his right hand resting on his 10mm. The two seemed to meet halfway in the office.
Alphonse still had his hand behind his back. The man seemed to snivel when he studied the young man, his attire and weapons had dust, cuts and so much damage that it almost appeared like a joke. But even more so now, the boy had a look about him... He was, serious.
Alphonse: "Are you done with the dust and ruins of the wasteland, are you? Given up on looking for dear old daddy dearest?"
His voice came out like a laugh, not deep... But held some form of power. Like an angry father or employer talking to his employee.
Y/N, however, remained silent and flexed his right hand, then relaxed it. No matter what anyone said. Alphonse always seemed to have it out for Y/N and his father. It was something he could never change.
Alphonse: "Thought you could just slink back in, like a teen missing curfew?"
Alphonse stepped back and walked over to his window once again, as he stares at the empty hall.
Alphonse: "Well... That's too bad. You have no future in this Vault. You're tainted."
Y/N licked his crack lips and titled his hat up.
Y/N: "Tainted... Well, whatever makes you sleep at night, sir. See the way I look at it, you're the one that gave the orders for all of this, you are the one that beat a man to death. You're, the reason this vault is in shambles and is going through a civil war... You're, the reason I had to give up my home."
Alphonse spun around nearly in snarl position.
Alphonse: "Like you have any idea how to lead... Your father is the reason for all of this! All of this!!!" He pointed out to the windowsill. "He endangered the future of this Vault's success and its safety of the residents."
Alphonse walked over to the boy stopping a few inches from his face.
Alphonse: "But, it doesn't matter what I think or say right! I did what I had to do. To make sure they didn't destroy all we had achieved. I only wish i could have prevented it from happening."
Alphonse stood still staring down the young boy as he watched Y/N take a quick breath and look the other way.
Y/N: "I'll admit it... My father did this. And he should be held responsible for what he has done. Yet, do you have any idea why my father left the Vault in the first place?"
Alphonse spun around and took on a smug state.
Alphonse: "No, I've spent many nights asking myself exactly that. He certainly didn't tell me before he left. I blame myself. I should've known better than to let him enter our home in the first place... He certainly showed his true colors in the end."
Slowly Alphonse fixed his vault suit and sighed. As he pushed a small batch of his white hair back. Showing his whole face it had become older and vividly weaker. He looked like he had been up for nearly three days now.
Alphonse: "If he had been raised in the 'Cleanliness' of our vault, perhaps your father would have shown more devotion to the important things in life."
Alphonse walked over to his desk and leaned on it for a moment, then sighed.
Alphonse: "Just as well he left, we mustn't let humanity's last pure specimens be sullied with his type."
Y/N raised his voice making Alphonse turn to.
Y/N: "HEY!!! At least my father didn't hide from the outside his whole life... You have no right to talk about him like that. What he had to do, to survive. It's not like we're all born in a vault!"
Alphonse walked over to Y/N and chuckled.
Alphonse: "Exactly my point. He didn't risk bringing you out into it, either. You have to wonder, is that why he left you behind? He wanted to know that you were someplace safe... And then, like the fool that you were. You squandered the greatest gift he ever left you."
Y/N bit his bottom lip not wanting to start a fight... But this man, this leader. He was pushing buttons and he knew it.
Y/N: "Deary me... Someone has a superiority complex... And hasn't even admitted it to himself yet. But I'm not here to talk about you. I'm here to stop this Civil war."
Alphonse: "Really? And here I thought you came here to bore me."
[Y/N's Pov]
Y/N: 'Don't kill him... Don't kill him... It's what he wants... Just don't kill him.'
Alphonse: "Really? And here I thought you came here to bore me."
I formed a fist and stared down the man, really wanting to break those perfect white teeth of his... There were so many things that I want to say. But I need to focus.
Y/N: 'For Amata...'
Y/N: "Listen... I'm not going to deny there is danger out there. Because that would be the biggest lie I would've ever told. But, your Vault... It's going to die out either way. The amount of inbreeding is already dangerously high, that's not even mentioning the lack of supplies and knowledge of the outside world. You won't survive another generation if you act this ignorant."
He stepped back shaking his head.
Alphonse: "Like you can even choose, spoken like someone that's never led... Deep down you were never one of us."
I formed a fist again and felt the metal of my 10mm.
Y/N: "Believe me... I'm more than just your label and such things define your reasoning... But you know, I'm right... And known for a while now."
I watched Alphonse walk over to his window once more, he was always the silent and calculating type. I never could understand what he was going to say next or what he thought of. But he's losing control, I can see it.
Alphonse: "You... Pompous, ignorant, wastelander!"
He spun around and I chuckled crossing my arms.
Y/N: "And you, are a bias, overseer, who's been born into luck and power... And it's true, I'm all those things. But, I'm willing to move on and look towards a brighter future, for everyone. Not just private citizens that were born here!"
Alphonse looked away and I knew I finally got through to his thick skull. He stepped back and scratched his stubble on his chin.
Alphonse: "Like... I... For laughing sake, what would you suggest then?"
I stared at Amata's father and thought about his untainted people... I'm no longer that scared child.
I'm a survivor.
Y/N: "Your Vault's... The only reason for its existance was to keep it's people alive until they could finally inhabit the earth once more."
Alphonse got a chuckle out of that.
Alphonse: "And you expected me to believe that the only way to do that is to let them travel out into the Wastes and mingle with those... Savages?"
He kept walking back and forth, talking to himself in his little world.
Alphonse: "I suppose... It would allow them to stay alive, and we could still keep the Vault as our haven... But it'd require a new type of leader. One that you agree with no doubt."
I nodded already knowing who he was talking about. He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders.
Alphonse: "Amata...Why am I not surprised. It won't work. It can't work... She won't take you."
I turned my head to the side and scratched my neck. Spotting the 10mm pistol that Alphonse had placed on his desk.
Y/N: "I've... always. Felt things for Amata, ever since we were kids. She always had this... Spark about here, I see it in her now... More than ever. The moment I arrived back in this Vault."
I step up to Alphonse taking the pistol on the desk then, hand him the weapon.
Y/N: "You may not like me or approve of me. But... I.Love.Your. Daughter... My Amata, And you can try to shoot me now and blame it all on savage acting out. But you must understand one thing... And that is if you fire this weapon. You will lose your home and your daughter. So... What will it be?"
He stared at me... Then glanced to the floor unsure what to say, dropping the pistol to the floor.
[Time Skip]
I had just walked into our old classroom with Alphonse by my side, we had not said to one word since we left his office.
Amata: "Y/N!"
Before Amata could even ask what is going on... Amata's father spoke up.
Alphonse: "Amata... Everyone... Listen closely. After a discussion with your friend, I've made an important decision. In my attempts to keep us all safe, I have been, perhaps, overzealous. Lives have been lost. But perhaps worse than that, lives have been stopped. And in my attempts to keep you safe, I have kept you from growing up. I know I have made these mistakes. And I would make them again if I had to do so... That is why I cannot remain your Overseer."
Amata was thrilled.
Amata: "FATHER!!!"
Alphonse: "Amata, I appoint you as Overseer in my place. You've confirmed your ability as a leader. Having what it takes to make hard choices for the people of the vault. I'm just sorry... That I didn't understand that earlier. Consider it one of my many mistakes."
Amata puts on a brave face and I smile, happy to see this day. As she walks over to her father.
Amata: "Thank you, father. I'll do my best to keep us all safe, inside the vault and beyond."
Alphonse: "You're welcome my dear. Now, if you'll excuse me, I feel quite worn down. We'll deal with the details soon. Until then, I'm sure people are waiting to congratulate you."
With that all said and done the entire rebel section, lets out a victory cry and people crowd Amata. Giving her praise and mentioning how brave she was... And how brave she was true. Still smiling and kind. I wouldn't ask for anything less of her. She always was a leader... Now she's finally got the title for it.
But after the celebration and people running down the halls, some heading back to their families. I stayed in the back and watched.
When Amata found me, she was still smiling... The wold seemed to light up around her.
Amata: "I... I just... I don't know what to say. My father's stepping down as Overseer. But, i guess its something you said to him?"
She moved closer and I looked the other way, trying to hide my smile.
Y/N: "We had an... Understanding of sorts. We were very Civil."
Amata: "You... and him... Civil?"
She punched my arm and chuckles.
Amata: "I expected you to change out in the Wasteland, but not that much. I mean, you and him, talking... I'd pay to see that."
I shrugged my shoulders.
Y/N: "Things can happen."
Amata: "I guess your right. But now we'll learn about the outside world. As the new Overseer, I'm planning on opening the Vault, this time. For good. It's a bright new day for the Vault."
She smiled revealing her beautiful white teeth and that cheeky little grin with those two dimples on her cheeks. I've missed that so much.
Amata: "But... I'm afraid there's one thing that has to change."
I chuckled and leaned against the metal wall. Crossing my arms over my chest gazing at Amata.
Y/N: "Yeah... I know."
Amata: "You knew... I'm-"
I pointed to my left chest.
Y/N: "Of course... I felt it. I knew it back then. But, now... I'm ready. Ready to be different and I just-"
Amata: "What are you talking about?"
I stopped for a moment and stood up straight, kind of confused by that comment.
Y/N: "Us... Dating... We... I mean moving back in-"
Amata took my hand in her own and I looked at her, for the first time... In a long time, I didn't know what she was going to say.
Amata: "Y/N... I know what you did is amazing, you saved the Vault and on behalf of the Vault... I thank you for all you've done. But-"
I knew the words that were going to come out of her mouth... I saw them before with Alphonse. I stepped back and looked away.
Y/N: "No..."
Amata: "People still blame you for everything that happened here."
Y/N: "No... No... No... please don't do this, not to me... Please."
Amata the strongest girl I've ever known in this world, stood her ground her eyes unwavering.
Amata: "So, I have to ask you to leave..."
I turned to her and shook my head.
Y/N: "It's wrong... I helped everyone here."
Amata: "What your father did!"
Y/N: "Wasn't my fault!!!"
Amata stepped back and I stared at her.
Y/N: "I didn't do it... I didn't have a say in any of it! The whole time... I have been surviving on my own."
Amata: "Which is why you need to leave, you will live and won't die in here!"
I stopped and stared at Amata... My mind drawing a blank... My heart... I could hear it... The beats, the rhythm that followed. I walked over to Amata and looked her in the eyes.
Y/N: "I'd rather die here than leave you, Amata. Please... Don't."
Amata stepped back and brought her hands up like she was going to push me back.
Amata: "I'm... Sorry... But the situation is just too delicate for you to stay."
My right hand lay atop of my heart and I gulped for air staring right back at her. Not sure what say...
Y/N: 'Amata...'
She steps closer to me and held cheeks.
Amata: "Please, if you want to help the vault, you have to go."
I held her hand in my own and fought back the tears.
Y/N: "But, I didn't come for them... I came for you~"
She was silent and I felt a tear run down my right eye.
Y/N: "I missed you... So, much. Before I was scared and alone. But now... I'm with you and I don't need to be scared."
I saw a tear run down her cheek, she sniffed and looked the other way.
Amata: "Please, don't do this you can't stay."
I touched her cheek and made her look at me, as I whipped her tears away.
Y/N: "Look me dead in the eyes, and tell me I'm not different... I swear i'm different now. I'm not the same person I was before... Come on Amata, I'm you're best friend. And it took me a long time to admit it. But I did love you... and I still do... So please, don't make this be our end... Just tell me to stay. Tell me that we can just be together again."
Amata bit her bottom lip and wiped a tear running down her cheek.
Amata: "I can't... The vault."
Y/N: "Can die in a ditch for all I care... You were the only reason I came back. The only reason!"
Amata: "You don't mean that... You don't mean that.
She turned away from, acting disgusted by what I said. But I held her hand and clenched it so tight.
Y/N: "Amata, I would... I really would. Because you are the only thing that is keeping me here... The only thing that's pushing me on and kept me going through those dark days."
Amata: "You... You'll just cause more problems. The Vault can't take any more in-fighting. It just has to be."
Her hand slipped out of my grasp and I stood.
Y/N: "And what about me... What about us?"
Amata: "Its..."
Y/N: "Don't... Don't. After everything that has been said."
Amata: "Over."
I stepped back and walked around the room, staring at the old clinic files that my father had on his desk... This was his place, the place he owned and our home. A place where he was respected.
Y/N: 'You... Did this to me old man... And she used me!'
I grasped my head and now fully of enraged, I did the unthinkable and kicked over his desk. Making Amata jumped back frighted... Even Dogmeat started to whimper in fear.
Y/N: "AHHHHHH!!!!"
Amata: "Y/N!!! STOP!!!"
I turned to her and formed a fist... I was staring right at her now and full of rage.
Y/N: "YOU USED ME!"
Amata: "We needed help!"
Y/N: "YOU USED ME!!!"
Amata: "We needed you! I needed you!!!"
Y/N: "AND YOU USED ME! LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!"
I stepped closer to her and saw the fear in her eyes. Then I looked to the floor and relaxed my wrists.
Y/N: "You were the only one... The only one that I could trust... Deep down in your heart, you used me and... and... and."
Amata: "It's not-"
Y/N: "You... Threw me away..."
I was so angry... With everyone... Everything I've done... For her, these people. I just wanted things to be simple again when we were kids.
Amata bit down on her bottom lip and spoke up. As she sniffs and looks up at me.
Amata: "It'll be a while before we're ready to go outside... But-"
Y/N: "BUT, BUT, BUT!!! DOESN'T MATTER, IN THE END, WILL IT!!! I'M NEVER GOING TO BE ALLOWED BACK IN!!! I'M NEVER GOING TO BE ALLOWED TO SEE YOU!!!"
Amata looked the other way and tensed up.
Amata: "Maybe when we become stable... We could start trading again and-"
I sat on the desk and shook my head.
I was done... Am done... Excuses, reasons behind, all of this. I didn't need to hear them.
Amata: "I'm sorry, but you have to go."
I looked at my hands and shook my head.
Y/N: "I'm such a fool... I'm such a fool... I'm such a fool... I thought... I thought that I would finally be happy, that I could finally rest and help everyone again."
Amata: "You can. And you will. Listen it's not much... But-"
I turned to Amata, she was holding out some ammo, food, and water. I stared up at her for a moment.
Amata: "You saved us, but you'll kill us. I'm sorry. You're a hero... and you have to leave."
I looked at Amata and then the supplies. Without saying another word I stood up.
Y/N: "We're done!"
Amata: "What are you-"
Y/N: "Don't you ever call for my help again!!! You do, and I will kill everyone in this Vault and burning it... Nuke it... Anything if not everything."
Amata: "Please... You're being hysterical."
Y/N: "No... I'm telling you the truth. Because..."
I stared at Amata. This strong, beautiful woman that gave me. So much... So much hope. Had now destroyed me... In ways, I never thought possible.
Y/N: "You... Killed me, Amata. You don't see it now. But I lost, the most precious person in my life... You... And you can't even tell me to look you in the eyes and tell me. YOU LOVE ME!"
She looked away and I bit my bottom lip. As I looked away.
Y/N: "I never... I wanted to hurt you. I never wanted to make you suffer or hurt you. And you did all of it with a smile on your face."
I sniffed and looked the other way, I could feel the tears welling up inside as I tried to stop myself.
Y/N: "I loved you... I Loved you and used me."
I turned back to her, she kept looking the other way and I sniffed. Quickly calling Dogmeat over and was about to walk out of the room, when I quickly glanced over my shoulder.
Y/N: "You were never my friend... Were you? You were one of them... The 'Untainted.' Like your father."
She spun around crying and wiped her tears away as she screamed at me.
Amata: "LEAVE!!!"
I looked to the door leading me out of the Vault and didn't answer back. I simply walked out of the Vault.
Unpaid for my services, shunned by the people I was once shared my home with and lost the love... Of my life.
