"You're insane Sparks*" I exclaimed as he showed us the new gig location. "A skate rink? I won't want to play drums if I can skate."
Sparkles* laughed. "We'll have plenty of time for skating before-hand, as long as you don't tire yourself out Leo. And I may be able to ask them to keep the rink open for us for a bit longer."
"Well that's a Parvy yes." Parvis said from his position on his seat, and we glanced at Kogie who looked uncomfortable for a little bit.
I was the first to ask, "Is something wrong?"
"Huh? Oh... No. Yeah, sounds fun." Kogie replied and Parvis grinned, patting his back.
"It'll be great. You sound like you've never been skating before."
He met my eyes and I saw the silent plea in them as he spoke up, "I've skated before."
"Great! Than it's settled!" Sparkles* exclaimed and he went to follow up the call.
-----
The gig had been amazing, so many more people became Eleveners and have promised to by the album, and we got the rink held open for us.
Sparks* said he was going to go put the instruments away and Parv was happily skating around, but I had remembered Kogie and went looking for him. I found him sitting at a table, and he hadn't even put the skates on. "Kogie, are you okay?"
"Huh... Leo..." Kogie said, his voice weak and I knew something was wrong. "C... can I tell you something?"
"Sure." I replied, pulling up a chair next to him. I let him take in deep breaths before he looked into my eyes.
"I... ah... Don't know how to skate..."
"It's fine. I'll teach you, it's really easy to learn." I said and then looked to the skates. "The first step is to put them on Koges."
"Yeah..." Kogie replied and he kicked his shoes off, putting on the skates. I helped to tie them, and then I made sure the wheels would spin. "Now what?"
"Stand up." I reached out my hands to steady him on his feet as he pushed up off the chair and started rolling. He clutched onto me. "It's okay, I'm not going to let you fall."
"O... okay."
Slowly I led him to the rails, giving a warning glance to Parvis who was looking over at us in amusement. As we reached the rink I felt Kogie hold on tighter, and I grimaced as I almost fell over. "It's okay Kogie, I'm not going to let you fall."
"S... sorry Leo." He replied and loosened his grip. I stepped on backwards, pulling Kogie along until we were on the other side. "Now what?"
"Sparks*" Parvis yelled and he left the rink to rejoin our singer.
"Okay, so step towards me." I told Kogie, who lifted one skate up and stepped forwards. When it rolled he clutched tighter. "Another, you're getting there."
After a few more shaking steps, Kogie had begun to make real progress. He was able to let them roll before taking another, and I slowly begun to let go. It was only once I had let go he had panicked again. "Leo?"
"It's okay Koges. You're doing really well, I'll catch you if you fall." I told him, ignoring the wizing sound as Parvis went past, and turning to see Sparks* struggle slightly. "Besides, you're doing better than Sparks* is."
"Shut up Leo!" Sparkles* yelled at me and Kogie laughed. I turned my full attention back to him as he continued to step forwards.
I saw him step and Parv came spinning up behind him, startling him. He toppled over. Moments later, with lightning fast reflects of a drummer, I had caught him, and a very sorry Parvis had slowed up to us. "Shit, sorry Kogie. Didn't realize how fast I was going."
"No... It's... Ah... Fine Parvis." Kogie said and he gave a small smile up at me. I pulled him back up so he was standing and he looked at me before looking at the ground. "Thanks for... Catching me Leo."
"I told you I would." I replied and glanced over at Parvis who was still fretting slightly. "It's okay Parvis, no harm done."
"Looks like more good than harm." Sparkles* whispered in my ear, nudging my arm. He than dragged Parvis away, something about asking if they could put Area 11 music in the DJ booth.
"Thanks again Leo..." Kogie said and he gave a small smile up at me. "I guess I'm not good at sk..."
"Nonesense. You're a natural Kogie! You were doing great." I said and there was no mistaking the blush on Koges features. "Just a bit longer and you'll be wizzing around like Parvis."
"Really?" He asked and I nodded. "O... okay then... I'll keep going."
I smiled at him, and true to my world we were soon skating around - not as fast as Parvis was, but faster than Sparkles*.
-----
Sparkles* and Parvis were talking to the rink manager as Kogie and I returned our skates, and I was delighted to see Kogie really happy as he turned to face me. "Thanks Leo."
"No problem. Glad to help." I said, turning to face him. He glanced at the ground before giving me a quick kiss on the cheek before hurrying off to find the others.
I lingered for a little bit, my hand over my cheek in shock and happiness, before running after him to catch up.
