°》Chapter_One《°

In a world where nothing eventful ever seemed to happen people often yern for any type of stimulation. Trends come and go, but the one thing that has stayed and emerged strong throughout the years, is gaming.

That may seem silly and to most, it still was. That was until a woman named Junko Enoshima changed the world.

Years ago back before gaming was a serious career, nearly everyone had to get a job at some point. The prospect of making money off of social media was just foreign and incomprehensible at the time. And sure it was done, but no one ever made it their fulltume gig. And to speak of gaming as such ? Out of the question. The way the market worked was that a product was produced, and you bought it to enjoy. End of story, nothing else. Thats what everyone thought.

But Enoshima didn't.

She thought of ways that allowed people to profit even more then humanly thought possible. Enoshima wanted to create a place that could broad cast the activities of the player around the world, a way to interact and enjoy without wasting money yourself. She wanted to be someone who could spread entertainmemt across the globe. And at the young age of 16 that's exactly what she did. Creating KumaSpace was a decision that changed the entire world. At first no one watched her, after all she was just a stupid kid, right? Maybe, but that didn't stop her. The more she played and grew, the less silly it seemed. Everything just magically clicked when veiwing the girl.

Soon there were thousands apon thousands of everyday human beings watching this overyjoyed freckled girl with a headset play games. No one knew why they continued to watch her but something about watching the woman play was charming and enchanting at the same time. Her charismatic personality made it just that much better to watch. No matter how long or how short the stream was people always interacted and talked with the female and eachother. It truely was a break in the entertainment world. And even after all thus, just when the high started to reach its peak, Enoshima announced a change.

Enoshima stated that months before she even started streaming, she was thinking of how she could spark a fire into the hearts of civilians who were deprived of life every time they breathed. How she could give everyone a newfound joy in life. How she could emit a hope within people to countert the over baring weight of despair that everyone is sure to face one day. And that declaration only made her even more popular.

She announced that she was going to make a change so that anyone who wanted to spread 'hope' as she called it could. She told the world that a new update was coming to KumaSpace. An update that didn't just allow viewing and communication functions, but an update that also gave permission of the user to create their own channel whenever the wished for free.

Crowds were estatic and in their eyes, Enoshima was a god. New channels started popping up almost immediantly after the update was fully installed into the app. Streams ran by those who won the hearts of their audiance rose to the top, while those with a bland tasteless channel went unrecognized and never took off. These lucky individuals were rewarded the name of Monoplayers and many of which were expert gamers, but despite how many rose to the top, no one ever came close to the top tier gamer of Junko Enoshima. She was unbeatable in every game imaginable. Everything often seemed like pure child's play to her, but that's what only egged people on the watch her even more. The prospect of such a person was fascinating even to the dumbest of rocks.

Updates came and improved the app almost randomly, surprising users to no end. Anyone who had doubts or complaints nearly never existed, simply because of the constant flow of updates that kept everything smooth and functioning for the worldwide app.

And it's within this world that Shuichi Saihara lived in. It's been two years since he joined KumaSpace but despite his short time online, he is pretty popular for his young age of 21. The MonoPlayers channel first started off as a theory channel full of conspiracies and brain teasers because he was too shy to do much of anything else, despite the encouragement he received. A few months in an Shuichi finally grew the confidence to show his face to the internet and did his first gaming stream. It was a murder mystery game and surprisingly, veiwers responded well to the stream. The boy was a bit quiet, but his thought process was intruiging and entertaining nonetheless, especially his expressions and reactions. Not to mention he was a 'soft boy' as many of his veiwers out it.

He was so quick to make deductions and back them up with binding evidence that everyone gave him the nickname of being the new GamingDetective. Shuichi had no idea why they came up with such a boring title, but he only assumed it had to do with the boring boy himself. Its better then Sherlock Holmes at least.

Shuichi's channel was called _Saihara_Plays_ , not very creative he admits but he never expected the who KumaSpace job to kick off like it did and he just doesn't have the heart to change his channel name. After coming so far with his 674K Subscribers he didn't see reason too.

Currently Shuichi was sprawled carelessly face down in the comforter of his bed. He just finished a 8 hour stream that ran long through the night. The only thing he wanted to do was embrace the siren call of gentle sleep. His only problem, it was 6:23 in the morning.

So like any classic insomniac, the boy willed himself to drag himself to the petite coffeemaker. He leaned on the counter as he waited for the brewer to heat up the water. Last night was by far the longest he has ever streamed in his whole career. Man, was he tired. Oh well, there was no point in going to sleep, its not like he hasn't pulled an all nighter before. Besides, the sun was out, and he had to go buy groceries.

His eyes drifted to his cluttered sink and he sighed. Today would be full of chores he presumed.

When the brewer was done heating it screamed loudly into Shuichi's face making him yelp loudly. He scowled and pressed the correct settings for his coffee. He was going to have a heart attack and die if he doesn't replace this coffeemaker soon. The manualwas lost long ago so the tired male doesn't know how to silence the obnoxious alarm.

"It's going to be a long day..."

"Hey watch it!"

"My bad"

"Be careful with those boxes stupidhead, inside they hold top secret infromation that's worth your life! Do you want to die?"

"E-Excuse me?"

"Neeheehee! That was a lie obviously! But seriously, break my shit and your dead"

The worker gulped as he picked up another load of boxes from the back of hus moving truck. Normally he like hus relaxing job, but today he was stuck with a short imp who wouldn't by the lufe of him be silent. He passed a silent look of dismay to the back of the boys head while he trudged to the right apartment.

The white door was propped open so he allowed himself inside for the sixth time that day and dropped off the final load. He let out a small sigh of accomplishment and turned around to walk out and begin packing up for his next job.

The purple haired mince was leaning against the door frame watching the man expectantly. "Well, that's everything" he tried to start and akwardly walked past the male inti the hallway. He gave him a small bow "I'll be heading off now, if there isn't an-" "Hold that thought!" The boy interrupted and dissapeared back into the apartment.

The man sughed and leaned unto the apartment to see what the purple haired man was up to. "You said something about your boyfriend on our way up here right?"

The brunette blinked his golden eyes in surprise. Indeed on the 2 hour drive up here did he rant a bit about his stupid boyfriend. A few weeks ago his significant other lost a small fortune while gambeling, which really shocked them both, since he has never list, not once. No matter hus ended up resulting in a lovers quarrel. And althought they made up, there was no way they were going to pay the bills unless one of them got a job, and because of him not fully trusting his boyfriend to keep a job, he got one instead. But why was this guy asking about that? "Yeah i-"

"Aha! Here it is" the male once again blatantly cut off the other. He bounced back over to the worker and slapped a slip of paper into his hands.

He stared at the male in confusion before reading it, his eyes slowly widening the longer he read it.

"How did you... why did you..?" He Finally asked the male looking uo in disbelief. This isnt a prank is it?

"Well I don't have any use for things like that, uts as good as trash to a king like me" he rolled his eyes wuth a childish huff. "And no, I'm not lying, that right there is the real deal, unless you wanna stay for awhile instead, if you know what I'm saying" he grinned seductively at the male who turned hus nose up in disgust about to speak. "Kidding kidding! I wouldn't sleep with the likes of you" he giggled.

"Even so... a week long stay at a famous hot spring resort... for free?!" He sputtered. "I can't accept this! You should keep it"

His purple eyes flashed with annoyance. "Weren't you listening? I have no use for it you ahoge for brains! It's only valid for a party of two! So its as good as raw sewage " He scoffed.

"But surely you must have someone you could-"

"Nope" he drawled popping the 'p'. "Peasants like you aren't worth my valuable time!" He sang. "Now leave before I call the cops" he bore a scary threatening look on his face making the male across from him flinch.

But almost as fast as it came it was gone, and he was back to the bubbly demener once again. "A lie! God you should have seen your face" he cackled. The burnette bore a small glare but he disregarded it with ease. He turned to walk back ti his truck already done with the male before he stopped in his tracks.

"Eh? Sluty Bitch got yiur tounge" he teased.

"T-thank you" he spoke and dissapeared leaving kokichi alone in the hallway.

Kokichi widened his eyes then shrugged heading back into his apartment and kicking off his shoes. His feet felt relaxed on the grey plush carpet as shuffled to the couch and plopped into it with a groan.

He swiftly took out his phone and rolled onto his stomach as he opened the KumaSpace app. He scrolled through the comments on his last stream about 4 weeks ago. People were still talking about the leaders dissapearance which made him chuckle.

"Doesn't anyone have anything better to do?" He asked himself as he stared at his subscriber count that was up in the millions. 'Of course not' he answered himself.

Its only natural for when the king goes missing, his followers would be distressed until his return.

The thought made kokichi grin and throw a little joyous fit

"After all, this world is mine!" He gleefully bounced off the couch and slipped his sandals on. He wanted to finish checking in, and to explore the grounds, oh how exciting this place would be!

He ripped open his door and walked out.

THUD!

"Owwwe" kokichi groaned and looked at the person he slammed into with a glare "Next time watch were your going! Idiots u swear " he growled.

"I-i'm sorry! The door was just so fast and then you walked out and-" the boy looked up and his eyes shot open.

"Wait a minute... you can't be him..." he whispered in disbeleif.

Kokichi rose a single eyebrow still annoyed he was pushed onto the floor. The navy haired colored boy infront of him scrambled up and grabbed the few bags of what seemed like groceries before even giving the one still on the ground a chance.

"Hello? Aren't yiur going to help me up? This is your fault" he called. The boy finally seemed like he was finally aware of what he was doing. "O-oh, my bad, here" he stuttered and held out his hand for him to take. Kokichi tried to hoist himself up but the other wasn't prepared and he just stumbled back onto the floor.

He groan slighty and lifted his head to meet unimpressed purple eyes that looks about ready to rip his head off.

"Can't you do anyrhing right?"

"U-uhm... I didn't.." He just shied away, not being good with social interacrion, so he gave up on trying to speak and they awkwardly stayed spiralled on the ground.

Kokichi moaned in annoyance and pushed himself up as well as hoisting the blue haired bimbo up infront of him.

"T-thanks" he murmered quietly pulling his hat down to cover his face. "Mhm" kokichi barley acknowledged the others presence and started to walk off with his fingers laced behind his hair. But before he could wander too far, he got an idea.

He turned around and called out to the boy "Hey Emo! Mind showing me were the front desk is? It's the least you can do after being a unaware cluts!" He called making the other visible flinch.

"Sure i dont mind... just let me drop these off in my apartment" To kokichis surprise he unlocked the door right beside his and dissapeared before reappearing.

Great, this guy is my neighbor? Just when I thought I was gonna like thus place...

"I'm ready" he mumbled quietly as he approached thw shorter male.

"About time emo! I feel like I've aged eons!" He stated loudly which, you guessed it, made the other flinch.

"My name isn't emo... it's S-shucihi Saihara" he corrected quietly. Okay, we may have had a bad start, but maybe i can fix this..

"Eh? Whatcha say? Doesn't matter" he said before Shuichi could repeat himself. "Lead the way!" Shuichi sighed and hesitantly took the lead. Both only had one thought on there mind.

I can't beleive this guy is my neighbor
