i have to close my eyes

so i do not see

the apocalyptic events

that are unfolding below me

i did the best that i could

we all did for sure

but the world rejected us

we could do no more

so home we go, sadly so

in failure some will say

but in death and destruction

there will be a brighter day

the future holds a promise

and when the rebirth begins

a new race will emerge

and i, along with the others

will return again
