Previously:

"Come on. Get up they're coming." I helped him up. After some struggling, he was standing up but leaning heavily on me. The sounds of paws was coming closer and by the way Zach tensed, I knew he heard as well. We started walking towards the village but suddenly a wolf jumped from the bushes in front of us and growled, mainly at Zach. We turned to move away in the other direction but another wolf blocked our way. In seconds we where surrounded by wolves.

"Well, well, well what do we have here? A vampire and a traitor." I heard the familiar voice of Jack's Alpha Matt. We turn around to come face to face with Matt and Jack standing side by side, arms crossed over their bare chests. They were both only wearing shorts and had that Alpha and Beta look in their eyes. As soon as Jack recognised me, his eyes widened and his arms fell to the side. His look softened and was replaced by a look of shock.

"Alice?"

Chapter 9:

"What are you doing?" Jack ask taking a couple steps forward. Zach took a protective step in-front of me even though he's still weak.

"Step away leech." Jack growled at him. I placed a hand on Zach's arm and stepped in-front of him.

"What do you want Jack?"

"What do I want? What I want to know is, since when do you prefer to hang around with leeches instead of your own kind? I thought you were a hunter."

"I am. But at least he protects me. Not something I can say about you." His eyes narrow at me. He came into my face.

"How I remember, I offered you a place in our pack, but you refused."

"But at what cost? Being your mate? No thanks."

"It doesn't matter what you think. You betrayed your own kind by helping a vampire and you will be punished by law." Matt interrupted. Some wolves who changed back came up to us and tried to grab me but they couldn't for some reason.

"Don't touch her." Zach gritted though his teeth. I turned towards Zach to see his eyes glowing again.

"Zach don't." I tell him while holding his arm.

"I won't do it, if they don't touch you." He says low enough for only me to hear.

"What are you waiting for, get her." Matt says to the guys trying to grab me. They again make a move to grab me, but they got thrown backwards right before they could get a hold of me.

"Don't touch her." Zach gritted again. Jack stepped back looking shocked at what happened. Matt just looked furious. Matt took several steps forward. His eyes looking murderous.

"You will get what you deserve Alice. Not even your leech friend will be able to protect you." Matt spat at me before turning around and shifting before leaving.

"Please Alice be careful. You don't want this. You can still surrender. I'll make sure your punishment will be less severe." Jack tried to reason.

"I'd rather die then owe you something." I tell him. He opened his mouth to reply but a loud howl sounded in the distance. Jack sighed and shifted before dashing after all the other guys from his pack. As soon as they were out of sight Zach slumped against me.

"We have to get out of here ASAP." I say holding him up.

"We'll be fine. They won't do anything."

"You don't know them like I do Zach. The first time I went to them for help, right after my parents died, they almost killed me just because I smelled of vampire."

"They did what?" He asked trying to sound furious but he was too weak to do so.

"It doesn't matter now. Let's get to my place, before the sun rises, get you some rest and hopefully by tomorrow night, we can leave." I say starting to drag him with me. We eventually made it to my place. I dropped Zach on the couch making him groan in pain. I made sure all the blinds were shut before sitting on the ground next to him.

"Are you sure we're save in here? Don't they know where you live?"

"I never told any of them. If they were to track my sent or ask around I think they will find us easily but for now it'll have to do." He placed a hand over my cheek.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to happen to you." I smiled softly at him and placed my hand over his.

"It's alright. Atleast we have each other."

"I thought you said we couldn't be together?" I chuckled at him before placing my second hand on his cheek.

"I changed my mind. After you passed out and I thought I had lost you I realised that, even though I thought it would be impossible, you are my mate." He smiled and gently brought my face closer. He kissed me gently but that gentle kiss soon turned a little more heated. I leaned more into him, as to kiss him better but he pulled away groaning in pain.

"I'm sorry." I say pulling away as well. I moved my hands over him to try and find where it hurt the most and to sooth his pain. He grabbed my hands and chuckled softly.

"It's fine Alice." He says. He just lays there staring at me with a small smile on his face.

"What?" I ask after he's been starring at me for several minutes.

"Nothing, you're just beautiful." That made me blush as red as a tomato.

"Shut up." I tell him, gently shoving his shoulder. A challenging smile formed on his face as he pulled me closer until we were just inches apart.

"Make me." He whispers. That's all the push I needed to close the gap between us and kiss him.
