First Day
"Ashlie! Come on! It's your first day of being a junior in high school! You can't be late!" Ashlie's mom called.
"That's right! It's my first day!" Thought Ashlie, as she jumped out of bed and started getting ready.
Ashlie was one of the most popular people in her school, along with her friends. She is loved by everyone and everyone knows her name.
Ashlie flipped her red hair out of her eyes and goes to make breakfast. Her eyes widened at the sights of bacon and eggs. Her mom smiled warmly.
After she ate, Ashlie finished getting ready and was out the door. "Bye mom!" She shouted.
"Good luck honey!" Ashlie's mom called after her.
She got to his bus stop and waited. Soon, she heard someone yelling at her. "Hey creamsicle!"
Ashlie turned to see one of her friends running towards him. "Well hello to you to Tommy."
Tommy was a tall golden blond with piercings on his ears. He also wore an emoji mask that covers his forehead and part of his nose. "Hey! Ready for a new day?"
"The day is going to come whether we are coming or not." A voice said behind them.
Ashlie laughed. "Wow Jon. Oh, hey Uni, Nick."
"Yo." Nick greeted.
"Hello guys. It's Dawn." Said their friend behind them.
"Wow, really?" Ashlie said sarcastically.
Jon smiled. "The gangs all here!"
It was true. The most popular kids were all best friends living in the same neighborhood. At the same bus stop. What a coincidence.
The six students were still waiting for the bus. Dawn heard some footsteps coming their way and asked, "Hey, is someone else supposed to be her?"
"Eh, not sure." Nick shrugged.
The others turned their heads towards the sound. A blond boy was walking towards them with his head down. He stopped a few feet away. It was silent.
That silence was broken by Tommy. "Who's the negative energy?"
Ashlie elbowed him. "Don't be rude!" She whispered.
Uni was about to introduce himself to the newcomer, but as soon as he opened his mouth, the bus came, and they had to board.
In the front, Dawn and Jon sat together, with Uni and Tommy sitting behind them. Ashlie and Nick were sitting across from them.
Then the anonymous student got on. He sat in the middle. Still looking down, as if he doesn't want anyone seeing his face.
For the rest of the ride, the six, being the social butterflies they were, were chatting with each other. The other kid, sat alone silently, not uttering a single word.
Soon, the school was in sight, and the students on the bus exited the bus. The quiet kid got off last, and briskly walked towards the school. He bumped into someone's back. Oh no.
"S-Sorry, I-I wasn't looking where I was going." He apologized.
"That kid just bumped into Ched Damson!" Nick hissed.
"What's the big idea nerd!" He yelled, capturing everyone's attention.
"I-I'm sorry I bumped into you. I j-just-"
"Stop stuttering you idiot!" His greaser friend Tony interrupted. "Hey Ched! Give'em a knuckle sandwich boss!"
"Yeah! Give him a knuckle sandwich boss!" His other goon repeated.
Tony turned on him. "Mikey! Don't be unoriginal!" He shrieked.
"Yeah! Don't be unoriginal Mikey! Oh wait, I'm Mickey." He said dumbly.
Tony face palmed. "Mikey you dunderhead."
"Enough! Now what do you have to say for yourself you nerd?!" Ched screamed.
The kid took a big breath. "I apologize I-" he was cut off by Ched who grabbed his shirt and lifted him off the ground.
"He's in for it now." Jon whispered, worry written on his face.
Ashlie sighed. "Me and Tommy will carry him to the nurse."
"What the-!"
"What a freak!" They heard Ched exclaim.
Murmurs went through the sea of students. The six populars' eyes widened.
The silent kid, had a camera for half a face. It covered his eyes and nose. It was a metal rectangle that went across his face.
"That's why he kept his head down!" Nick said.
"I feel bad for him." Uni said.
Ched slammed his victim to the ground. "C'mon boys, this, thing ain't worth our time." Him and his goons walked away.
The camera face got up with his backpack in a death grip. The doors unlocked, signaling the start of the school day. He quickly walked to them and entered.
"Guys, let's go make sure he's okay." Dawn urged his friends.
"I agree." Uni said.
The six rushed through the school, looking for the camera kid. Unfortunately time was was not on their side, and they to go to class.
The rest of the day, they were trying to find that boy. They didn't. "Maybe we'll find him in the bus?" Nick suggested.
Sure enough, they did. He was in the same spot as before. Still with no one to talk to.
Uni sat next to him. "Hello!" He greeted. "Name's Uni! Those people are my friends. What's your name?"
He swallowed. "I-I'm Cory." He said shyly. "Y-You shouldn't waste your time with me. I-I'm fine."
"Nonsense! Say, ya wanna sit with us?" Tommy suggested.
"N-No thanks."
"You sure?" Nick asked.
"Come on! We don't bite!" Jon added.
Ashlie intervened. "Guys, he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to. The invitation still stands if you change your mind."
Cory nodded as the populars assumed their seats up in front. The bus started up.
After a bit of silence, Uni stated, "Well, he's an interesting character."
"Bit of a loner ain't he?" Tommy said.
Ashlie elbowed him again. "Don't. Be. Rude!"
They all peeked a look at Cory, who was laying his head on the window was a far away look, eyes filled with sadness.
"Probably because of Ched." Jon said.
The school bus reached their neighborhood and they all jumped off. Cory got off and walked to his house.
"I have an idea." Dawn announced.
"Well?" Ashlie asked.
"We can sit with him tomorrow." He suggested.
"Addin' him to the group ay Tom?"
"Sure, whatever dink weed."
Nick shrugged. "Meh, if he wants to. He seems to the kind of person who doesn't like attention."
"And we're the most popular kids in school." Uni added.
"Hey, if we do become friends, maybe we can meet his parents." Ashlie stated, with a dreamy look in her face.
"Oooooo, someone has a crush on the new kid?" Tommy joked.
"I have no idea what you're talking about. I just met him!" She said in defiance.
"Yeah, uh huh."
"Love at first sight." Nick added.
Everyone went laughing. Ashlie rolled her eyes. "I bet his parents are really nice." She stated.
She had no idea how wrong she was.
