Illusion - Part 1.

IMPORTANT: I made A small CHANGES.

Bluestreak's guardian is Hound, not Blaster. I just could not see Blaster as a guardian.

Origin (Transformers)

Chapter 12. Illusion – Part 1.

When Jazz turned the corner of the hall that was to lead him outside, there stood a group of bots, massive mechs, taking the whole space, separating him from the way out. The unexpected group caused Jazz only a short uncertain stop but deciding that he would just squeeze through the narrow space they left by the wall, Jazz continue his journey. His friends have been expecting him after his lessons, waiting outside the building.
But the closer the youngling got, the louder were becoming the growling voices of what seemed to be a Wrecker unit, bots whose optics if shone red would seem suiting and inseparable from the Decepticon kind. That was what Jazz saw, a resemblance to the 'Cons he once had to live among, mechs who barely noticed an under-grown scraplet he was for them.
He kept going straight even when the group started walking in his direction, still ignorant to the presence of a much smaller figure - similar to a situation that once happened in another hall with Sentinel Prime in the lead. These mechs Jazz had never seen before but all bots of the base knew about him and his origin and they had their orders to tolerated his presence.
A bad smell spread from these mechs drifting though and air reaching his sensors. The cooler leaking down their recently heated frames mixed with dust covering their mostly red-armored frames. They must have come from patrol or training Jazz had assumed and decided not to stare at the brutes and just pass by. But unlike on the Decepticon base, those now blue optics caught and got fixed on his red-lit ones.

The group slowed their pace. Finding himself face to face with a wall of mechs, all suddenly silenced and unmoving, Jazz couldn't help but feel a jolt of unsettling cold run through his frame. He too stopped, unsure of why his presence, now noticed, caused such a change but he refused the desire to start walking backwards.
"What the scrap..." one of them growled in with obvious confusion.
"What's a 'Con head doing here?" Jazz had to stumble back as one of the mechs started walking at him
"I'm here by Prime's order, everyone knows that." The youngster announced. That was supposed to reason them as he thought.

"Unlikely," It failed. There was no sign of belief the stare Jazz recieved.
"We don't let 'Cons sneak around our base. Don't know what kind of spy you are but you surely are a bad one."
For just a second Jazz forgot that he was supposed to feel unsettled as the ridiculousness of the statement made him blink in in confusion.

"Emmm... I'm not even hidin', mech, how 'm ah a spy?" he almost grinned but those impaling optics were hard to ignore.
"We'll find out."
He then realized they did not need a strong reason but one accusation giving them freedom of action. The red optics so typical for the ones they were willing to fight were the only signal they needed. Yet, Jazz did not move, not yet but he was considering to retreat just in case, only slowed down by the doubt that those mechs would actually dare to try- Whatever they were thinking. Among the short daring silence both sides heard a sudden voice.

"Wreckers."
"Prowl?" Jazz whispers surprised, no one but his guardian heard him while his attention stood on the group of mechs each piercing the new arrival with their stares.
"Stand down."
"By whose order?"
Jazz stared back. Those mechs didn't know his guardian. Were they not from this base?
"Officer Prowl, Head of the Iacon Tactician Department, member of the Autobot High Command."

Calm and collected as Prowl always was he stood unsettled facing the path-blocking group of massive mechs whose rough punching voices would be enough for most mechs to tighten their armor,

"Never heard of you though."
"Your commanding officer should introduce you deeper into the details. I understand you have arrived recently but we expected you would have already received the debrief."
The mech ignored the last part.
"Speaking of being poorly informed. You aware of scraplet that spies around the base?"
"Jazz is here by the orders of the command and Optimus Prime himself."
"Sneaking freely?!"
"He is currently considered a neutral on integration stage."
They were not pleased by such turn of events.

"He's a 'Con in and out."
"More importantly a Koanian, I know one when I see it, what neutrality you're talking about?!"
Prowl did not move. With his helm high, servos behind his back, doorwings and posture did not reveal even a hint of proof if the group succeeded to intimidate him. Far from that – his field was calm and even lightly revealing the unique combination of authority and respect. Prowl was not pushing them but he was certainly trying to keep these mechs in place.

"You have your orders, speak with you commander for clarification, if you require so."
"Rust, that's what it is."
"What was your name again? As I said... Never heard of you."
"Jazz."
The mechling's optics darted at his mentor.

"To reck room."
Prowl didn't look at him, eyeing the group, his demand clear and unquestionable. But Jazz's surprise was not caused by the tone that seemed harsher than usual but by Prowl's frame and faceplate, calm and collected, now having hardness in it. It was then Jazz realized what was happening but instead of moving only his faceplate startled from disbelief. It didn't last long as Prowl snapped him to reality,
"Run."
He had only managed a quick glance back at the group and bolted the same moment his caretaker shouted, "NOW!"

Spark pulsing as fast as it did then, what seemed so long ago, back at the Decepticon base, Jazz ran and turned the corner hearing a sudden movement behind his back and the last try of his guardian to use his comm, "RedAlert! Code IN4.7-"
It cut at that and the only thing he knew now was the loud peds of the mech and the working fans of the huge frame running after him. For once Jazz felt terrified as in the base in which he had become used to being reasonably safe, he so unexpectedly was running from the unexplained danger. Jazz ran, ignoring the burn in his fans. He knew he could run as far as he needed while the self-defense protocols throw all his power into reaching the safety. He just had to be faster than the massive and clumsy frame running after him.

Rec room- that was the destination. Bots were in, some just back from the shift and as it was Prowl's order, Jazz was sure he could be saved there. Youngster knew he wasn't slowing, sometimes even increasing his speed in uneven bolts but the heavy steps and the screeching of metal heard during the rough turns proved that mech was close.
Jazz never slowed seeing the doors and crashed into them, ignoring the impact on his servos and all but flew inside the rec room sliding over the floor before, instantly stumbling and raising back on his peds. His optics caught Mirage, who gasped his name at the site. Jazz stumbled in his direction and finally turned to see his follower. Knowing that with Mirage at his back he could afford to spare a glance to the Wrecker, he realized that the 'Bot stopped in the door frame panting and eyeing him with blazing optics. He seemed to make a step in and Jazz, stepping backwards with wide optics and, falling on the ground, finally heard Mirage's voice again.
"Jazz! What happened?!"
The mechling looked at the older 'Bot he knew and noticed Ratchet at his side, both on their peds ready to bolt in the needed direction.
"W-Wreckers. Prowl's in h-h-hall."
That was enough. They both rushed, one servo at the comm. The massive mech stood still as they passed by and scowled at the mechling. But the Rec room was packed and Jazz felt safer despite two mechs' leave. Then he saw WheelJack and realized that they didn't actually leave him alone with 'Bots he barely knew. He panted yet stared at the Wrecker and realized then that the crowd's optics were jolting between them both.
"Jazz. What happened?"
WheelJack approached him and held his servo helping Jazz up. The youngling stumbled, his fans slowly cooling after burn from such a sudden run but his stance kept ready to bolt any time, optics never leaving the brute.
WheelJake stared at the 'Bot, "What did that supposed to mean?!"
The 'Bot hesitated with all the mechs around but his failed chase was more than obvious. He scowled deciding there was no need to hide his team's intent and answered without any hint of regret.
"Cleaning the mess, that's all."
WheelJack's grip on Jazz tightened, his optics flickering with disbelieve.
"You've lost your mind."
"My team ain't getting orders from some random mech telling us to ignore a 'Con walking by our sensors," he growled demonstratively pointing at Jazz.
"He is a youngling, you moron."
"Ain't talking like one."
"You attacked a youngling and an officer!"
"Don't know that mech, my team just tried to pass him."
"Prowl's the head of our Tactician Department! He's the mechling's caretaker!"
"Well, Magnus never mention 'im yet. We followed the protocol, mech, tried to neutralism a suspect. Can't blame us, can you?"
The mech smirked, a drop of cooler sliding down by his blazing optic. He roughly rubbed the cooler of his face, not taking his sharp site from WheelJack's accusing gaze and casually turned around ready to leave when WheelJack throw, "The command will not leave it at that!"

"Of course, they won't."

He did not even turn back, just raised his servo up in a careless wavingmotion and calmly walked disappearing behind the closing doors.

WheelJack kept his stance, "What a mess. You okay, Jazz?"

"Yeh..."

"Sure? Look at me. You seem fine. 'Bit shaken?"

"I'm fine, let go. He didn't catch me."

Wheeljack frowned at the youngling who was trying to avoid his optics but signed thankful that the situation hadn't turned to a more damaging angle.

"I cannot believe that happened. The command will hendle them. I am not qualified for this situation... Come, let's take you to others for now. Your guardians will be busy for a while," He said slightly pushing Jazz's shoulder to the direction of the other exit.

"What's with Prowl?"

"He's fine, Ratchet commed me, they are dealing with the situation."

"They attacked Prowl too?"

"I don't know anything yet, but they surely ignored his order. These mechs are new to Iacon, they tried to bend the rules."

"...Did they manage?"
"We'll see."

"Aren't most Wreckers under Magnus' command?"

"...Yes, they are."

Jazz did not say a word after that. If Ultra Magnus was indeed in charge of these mechs then he would make sure they got excused. He had power to do so as well. From WheelJack's tone, Jazz could tell that the mech shared his thoughts. But the mechling's teacher could not predict that the young student would be aware enough to catch this slightly revealed idea.
Jazz hadn't had much interactions with the Autobot SIC but the few encounters were enough for him to understand that the mech was against Jazz's presence with all his spark. The way he looked at him and the few comments he had made so far were so sharp yet so skillfully neutral that at first Jazz question, if they had happened at all. Later, he had not doubt and being good at knowing who definitely didn't like him, Jazz knew Ultra Magnus more than didn't.
Finally, having been blinded by the lack of danger, he was thrown back into the acid truth. He was not safe here in Iacon. Not when the SIC himself did not want a Kaonian like him on the base. No matter what other adults were saying, they could not guarantee anything.
"Almost there, just a click-" the scientists paused answering his commlink as they stopped in the doorframe, from where Jazz could see Smokescreen running in circles around other sparklings, "Perceptor? Wait, what? Slow down, what glitches?- I can't hear you, what's that noise in the backgrou- IT'S DOING WHAT?! Alright, I'm coming, sit still, do come from under the desk- Jazz, I'm sorry, I have to go-YES, I KNOW, I'M COMING! 'Hide will come from his shift straight to you guys. Just stay with him till Prowl arrives."

With that WheelJack disappeared.

"Stay with 'Hide. Joy. That is if he doesn't melt me with his 'loving' gaze first," Jazz signed once again alone. He looked from the platform he was standing far where small figures of his friends could be seen. Jumping down the stairs ready to make his way through the chaos of working mechs he quickly regretted not taking the longer path around.

It was more crowded than ever. Two new shuttles must have been the ones to bring the Wrecker team. Bots were unpacking cargo boxes brought from those shuttles, loud rough voices barking here and there, sounds of metal falling on the ground, other containers dragged, hover boards vibrating with the heavier goods on.

A mech roughly bumped into him throwing a comment Jazz did not understand and moved on. The youngling rubbed his shoulder plate and turned back to the direction he was heading but his spark leaped in his chest as he froze seeing another group of giant frames. Wreckers. He was ready to run once again but realized that this was a different group. Their colours were green and black and they were no longer cowered in dirt like the others were. And then Jazz saw more, just by the shuttle. Some sat at the ramp and they saw him but their faceplates betrayed no emotion. Two raised their optic ridge in a light acknowledgement of their surprise and Jazz took his gaze away, deciding to hurry. His spark still pulsed fast. He couldn't help but look at the walking group only to receive a stiff glare of five directed at him. The green and black 'Bots were eyeing him with that heavy gaze but instead of the cold fire he had seen prior in the hall, those mechs had a calculating stiffness in their look. Crowd if bots was working, barely managing to pass his so much smaller frame, as Jazz stood in the middle of a chaos his optics linked with the only ones who seemed to notice him. He stepped back. Cutting the unpleasing connection their optics created, he just turned and moved between the passing frames, hiding himself behind the constant movement of the dock.

Glancing back with the feeling of being war, Jazz reached the stairs and climbed up diving in the hall, planning to use a longer way around. With quick steps he hurried, trying to ignore the speeding pulsation he still had in his chest and he did not know what made him flinch and press to the wall when he heard two voices approaching behind the corner. Convincing himself to calm down and just wait for mechs to pass when Jazz quickly realized realized that it was Ironhide's voice and heavy steps he heard approaching. Jazz was about to come out when caught what exactly the mech was telling his companion, "I told Prime that was a bad idea. That Kaonian is nothing but a trouble. I don't know what Optimus is hoping for."

"That bad?"
"Does not listen to a word. No respect for authority. Keeps sneaking out at night, I heard. Why doesn't Prowl put an end to it, I don't understand. What if other kids start following him, can you imagine? He has that knife of his in subspace, I don't want that scraplet anywhere near Bumblebee."

"I hear RedAlert-"

They passed by not noticing him and Jazz did not follow to hear more. His red optics stared at the ground. With a scowl on his face, for an instant his gaze blazed in the direction the two left, but then Jazz jerked back to where he came from.
—-
He roughly jumped from the ladder in some shadowed dead end.

Jazz had climbed out and up on the roofs, far away from those towering frames that seemed to be everywhere. Not thinking where to go but just getting further as possible he had slowly made his way and, finally hearing less noise, he landed here. Looking around the mechling saw where the light was coming from and went towards it.

Not recalling that place he looked up realizing he was just by the Primer wall. No wonder there was barely anyone here, 'Bots were mostly in the city, inside the wall or at the top of it.

He casually hit the dust on the ground making it fly.

A scratching sound came from somewhere and Jazz raised his helm to see a small gateway open in the wall.

"Watch out, fool, don't spray it around!"

"Some bath won't do you no bad! Owch- Hey!"

"I told you."

"Hey mech's after the-"

Jazz approached only to see the long low space filled with smaller vehicles and a team of bots doing maintenance. There were several more deck-like levels over them but mostly empty. Jazz went in, making sure to stay unseen. It was now more louder than outside, some bots spraying the vehicles with cleaner, others seemed to be doing repairs. Jazz dived behind a cover, then another. He had never been to this place before-

There was a sound of gate opening and he looked from the corner to see a small exit sliding aside to let three mech in vehicle forms in. They transformed and saluted the workers, their steps disappearing away...

Jazz's helm jerked and he froze. The pale light was shining in, wind entering the space...

The gates were open.

Right in front of him lay the path out of Iacon.

He lost his breath as the sudden anxiety rose. His optics sled at the space around – he was inside the walls themselves, the part facing outside was massively thick. It was just the lower level and something told Jazz that the thickness was not the only thing Autobots relied on. Iacon was massive, its bordering walls impassable. His friend would be safe here and he... He had his way out.

It was all just there. Right in front of him. Just one step.

Jazz bolted.
