Percy Flynn
There were glow sticks, loud music, and more than enough drinks. Even though I was grounded at least mom was compassionate enough to let me come to my own birthday party that Melody and Henry were throwing for me. She had to let me especially after the horrible things she did to Spencer and I during dinner. She even asked who was going to bottom if we wanted to have sex and wanted to know how experienced Spence was in the gay department... God, we would have scars for life.
Anyway this party was desperately needed and I loved it the minute I stepped in holding Spencer's hand. Everybody, the entire junior grade and many other people I knew and didn't know shouted a big 'happy birthday' to me. The lights were turned off, only the glow to make sure you didn't step on someone's face. We were handed glow sticks and even a glowing hat for me.
"He was sixteen, now he is seventeen, how awesome is that change?!" Mel sang falling into my arms in a warm hug. "Percy you made it."
"I wouldn't miss my own birthday party, Mel." I said hugging her back as I let go of Spencer. I made sure to wink at him and he blushed looking at his glow stick like it was some magic wand. "How drunk are you?"
She smiled at me. "Just a teeny weenie bit." She turned to Spencer grinning at him. "Hi Spencer, nice to see you here."
"N-nice to see you too, Melody," He said keeping an eye contact with her. That was improvement on his part. He was more himself everyday and I was loving it.
"Where's Henry?" Mel asked looking around.
"I gave him my puppy to keep safe."
"You have a puppy, again?" She asked with wide eyes and I smiled, nodding. "Congrats, I hope nothing happens to this one."
"Nothing will, witch."
She grinned, blew a kiss my way and grabbed Spencer. "Let's go play some games Spence. Can you still speak your four languages?"
He looked at me as if confirming if I was okay with him leaving. I nodded. "Go ahead, I'mma go great some guys and get drinks." He nodded, turned back to a still talking Melody and together they disappeared into the crowd of bodies.
I sighed, started dancing to the beat of the loud music as I walked over to my friends on the team. They attacked me with bro shakes and hugs everywhere and soon I was laughing and talking with the red plastic cup. I could see Spencer though and he looked like he was having a great time playing pool with Mel and some other people. He'd look back once in a while, smile when he sees me and go back to the game. I think he was winning and that was not surprising because my Spencer was as smart as that.
"Percy!" A familiar voice yelled and I turned right before a jumping Janis jumped me, crossing her legs and hands over me. I was thankful that my back was to a table else she would have sent us both to the ground. She had really short shorts on and an off shoulder crop top.
"Janis, what the--" I was cut off by her lips attacking mine in a hard kiss. I was stunned for a sec but then I was pushing her off me the next, using the back of my hand to wipe my lips. "The fuck's wrong with you?"
She just smiled, trying to put her hands around me again, I backed up. "Happy Seventeenth Birthday! Remember how we made plans for today? We were finally going on a road trip to--"
I cut her off guessing she's drunk. "Yeah I remember but in case you are not aware right now, we're no more together. You cheated on me with Bernard and all plans have been nullified?"
"I'm not with Bernard anymore. I've not been with anyone all this time and I've apologized a thousand times. It's been months Percy, we're supposed to be together!" She cried, tears pooling in her eyes.
I shook my head. "Maybe you're not with someone but I am."
"Lies," She accused. "Who are you with?"
I wasn't going to tell her but she asked and I'm not exactly hiding it so. "Spencer."
"Spen--" she faltered, taking a step back. She looked at me for a long time before she bursts out laughing. "Shut up. Percy Flynn's not gay."
I rolled my eyes. "Maybe, but he's bisexual and is dating Spencer."
She blinked, and then frowned. "Lies, stop lying or I'm going to tell everyone."
I shrugged, raising my cup at her. "Go ahead."
She looked at me, before going ahead to shout. "Hey everyone, Percy is dating Spencer!" She then gave me a smug look probably expecting shock on my face and denial but I just shrugged again.
"That's true." I said to the now silent room and the silent stretched for a sec before people went back to their business, some guys saying congrats to me. I smirked at a now crying Janis. "Go fuck yourself Janis."
"Screw you!" She yelled before running off.
My eyes met with Spencer's from across the room and I smiled at him, raising the now empty cup of alcohol. I loved him, I just hope he knew how much.
"So, Spencer Tracey?" A voice asked coming between I and Spencer's eye contact as he stood in front of me. Bernard. He smirked. "I always knew there was something stupid about you. Not only are you a faggot but of all seniors you could've picked, you went for Tracey huh?" I frowned, dropping my new source of refreshment on the table and my phone. "No wonder Janis wanted me, you couldn't give it to her well and was probably fucking Tracey behind her back. You disgust me Percy."
"Say what now?" I asked and from my peripheral view I could see Spencer coming closer.
Bernard smirked like the bastard he was. "I said you dis--"
"No, before that-"
"What? The you cheating or the you not giving Janis well or wait, the part about picking Tracey over—" he didn't get to finish because my fist landed on his chin sending him to the ground before anyone could blink.
"Percy!" Spencer was by my side and some other guys but I couldn't care, I was seeing red and busy glaring at Bernard Trent.
Bernard looked up at me, forcing himself up with a bloody lip, then in a flash he lunged at me, sending us both to the floor. He succeeded in landing two hits on my face before I could grab his hand and turn us over so I was on top. First I clocked him with my head, earning a very satisfying yell before my fists started descending on him. Somehow he struggled, using his leg to kick me off him. That hurt like a bitch because of the shoes he had on.
"Perce, you okay?" Henry asked and he and some other guys tried to get me to my feet.
"Get off me." I shoved them away, forcing myself up on my own with a very painful groan. Shit, I hope nothing's broken. Bernard was still trying to get to his feet, the head butt definitely leaving a massive migraine. I wasted no time rushing to him and using my knee on his face and he flew back to the ground. It was then more people rushed to hold me back and help Bernard to his feet.
He face was a mess as he glared at me. "I'll kill you, Percy Flynn!"
"Come and get me, idiot!" I yelled, ready to go after him but guys were holding me back. "Next time you say shit about me or my boyfriend, I promise you a face rearrangement. Lucky bastard!"
He spit out blood. "Fuck you and Tracey."
"You wish." I pulled myself off the people holding me and Bernard backed away. He was in no condition to face me. "Good luck fucking anything, idiot."
He walked away and I smiled at everyone, saying I was fine and the party could continue but when I turned to Spencer, I groaned in pain.
*
"I don't see the need of fighting." Spencer said looking at my face in confusion.
I smiled. "Release of anger? Transfer of pain? It's really the other person that matters in fighting. Hurting them."
"But then there's a chance you get hurt too."
"Small price for the greater good."
He shook his head. "You're crazy, I mean look at your face. I have no idea how to fix you, unlike you I'm not a doctor. When your mom sees you, she's going to flip. Double grounding."
I winced. "Please don't remind me."
"And your rib's probably broken or cracked." He points out, running a hand through his hair and biting on his lip. I could see that he was worried about me.
I took his hand in mine, entwining our fingers. "I'm fine, stop worrying about me." He pulled at his hand but I didn't let go, then he mumbled that he wasn't worried about me, just sick of seeing my injured face. I rolled my eyes, "and I'm not a doctor."
Stormi barked at me, running in circles. Spencer gave me the eyes as if saying I was lying and even my puppy knew. "I'm not!" We got up from the sidewalk we were sitting, holding hands as we walked.
"Then what do you want to be, when you grow up?" He asked like a middle school teacher and I bumped my shoulder against him.
I sighed. "Well, I'd love to be a physical therapist one day."
"Stormi see? Still a doctor," Spencer said smiling proudly.
"Not really." They were both looking at me, yes both. "Fine, I give up." Spencer pumped his fist and I laughed.
"You're going to be a great doctor, Percy. You're a genius at helping people and your patients would love you." He said looking at me, I looked back and he looked away after a moment. It's like he couldn't bear looking in my eyes for so long.
I shook our hands. "What about you? What would you love to be when you grow up?"
He'd probably want to teach, he loves that.
He looked ahead the almost empty road. "A professor hopefully. A lecturer, I would like to teach."
I looked at him smiling to myself. I'd thought that and it was correct, plus how hot is a lecturer? Very. "That's so you Spence. You'd slay at teaching."
He blushed, "thank you. Before that though, I'd really love to travel the world. Visit everywhere if I can, learn more languages, introduce myself to all the different cultures out there. Learn more about people and the world. You know it's a fascinating thing on its own out there, a whole lot of things we don't know." When he talked, you could see the passion in his eyes. It was practically glowing. "Then pass on my knowledge to people who can't go out and see it for themselves, you know?"
I didn't, but I nodded, turning around so I could kiss him. Stormi barked like she approved and that only deepened our kiss. We kissed until our breaths were gone and Spencer's face was all red in passion. I cupped his face gulping as I looked at him.
"Y-you know I meant it right?" I asked and he didn't need to ask what because he knew. "Please don't run away."
He reached up to touch my hand on his face. "I won't."
My heart skipped at that and I let out a nervous breath. "When I said I love you, I really meant it Spencer." He looked ready to bolt but he didn't. "I love you Spencer and its okay if you don't love me back yet just know, I'd love to travel the world with you someday. And I'd love to have my remaining birthday breakfast with you."
"Percy--"
I placed my finger over his lips. I didn't want him to say something because I felt like anything he said could kill me right now. "You don't have to say anything, just-- don't run away okay?"
He smiled, leaning up to kiss me. "I won't."

I was right, mom almost killed me when she heard of the fight and saw my injuries thereby sealing up the thoughts of me about to join a gang. I didn't break or crack my rips but it hurt like shit and mom got me all wrapped up with a bandage. I was super grounded and dad was made to pick me up from school, drop me at work and pick me up, bringing us home. I was just glad we were done with painting Spencer's house, all he had to do was get people to put the furniture in. I wish I could be there with him.
My visitors were limited to just Spencer, Melody and Henry. Spencer came to visit whenever he didn't have any work and we talked on the phone a lot. I bonded with my little sister too, it been long and made me realize I really haven't been at home a lot lately. Dad also saw the opportunity to use me as an assistant chef or student whenever he was at it in the kitchen. And Spencer got his car back.
"I'm making popcorn. When are you going to be here?" I asked using my face to hold my phone steady as I made butter popcorn.
"I just got our drinks. I'll be there soon." Spencer said over the phone.
"Well, hurry up then handsome. I'm bored!" I yelled laughing as I cut the call. Stormi was already lying cozily on the sofa like she knew we were about to watch John Wick. My puppy was the best.
The popcorn got ready just as Spencer knocked. I pulled open the door, pulling him to a kiss. "Just in time."
"Perfect." He grinned going over to kiss Stormi. "Hi girl."
We settled to watch the movie, snuggling up close as it came on. Dad was around but I didn't care how he saw us, as long as we didn't have our junks out. Which was why there was a blanket here anyway.
"Pause, pause. I need to go pee!" Spencer yelled jumping up.
"Oh come on." I laughed, putting a pause on the movie anyway. Stormi growled and I shrugged at her. It didn't go up to a minute after Spencer ran up that his phone came to life, ringing and vibrating. I picked it up the table seeing the hospitals name flash on it. I paled, dropping the phone back like it burnt me.
It turned off and came back to life again. Stormi barked and growled at it, using her paws to try and cover her eyes clearly showing her discomfort.
"I can't pick it." I said to her and she just barked. It rang again and I just reached for it, picking it up. "H-hello."
"Am I speaking to Spencer Tracey?" A lady asked, nurse I guess.
I gulped. "Yes, what's wrong?"
"It's your mother..."
Spencer came down a minute after I'd placed the phone back down. "Sorry about that, hope you didn't play it?"
I shook my head. "I didn't."
Spencer blinked at me and at Stormi that was now lying on my legs. "What did I miss?"
