"Do you believe in love Levi?"
"Do you believe in shutting up Hanji?" Levi retorted as he refused to look up from the book he was reading.
"So that's a no. But like, wouldn't it be totally ironic if someone came along that you fell head over heals for?" Levi sighed and shut his book.
"Considering you're a sour puss." Hanji added in a quieter voice.
"It won't happen. I don't believe in love. Love makes you weak." Levi crossed his arms and stared hard at Hanji, wanting to get the point across.
"Okay, okay. You've made your point captain buzzkill." Levi rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the book he was reading.
That was the end of the conversation, and the silence of the library continued on. In the Shiganshina High School Library, students filtered through, doing there own things.
That was where Levi Ackerman usually spent his time. But don't let his good looks and cunning actions fool you, he's as hard as a rock when it comes to feelings and expressing himself. Levi didn't care to interact with others, he really didn't care about anything.
Levi Ackerman's life was filled with missing puzzle pieces and confusion as well. Before this year, the year of his eighteenth birthday, he had no memory of the past. Pieces came at random moments but other than that he remembered nothing.
All he knew was that he was a senior at Shiganshina High School, and although the only people he associated with were Hanji Zoe, a science obsessed loud mouth, and Erwin Smith, an elite that excelled at everything, he was content.
Levi didn't think he needed anything else.
"Op! That's the bell. Let's get going Levi." Hanji got up off the leather chair she was sitting on and turned to Levi.
"So, ready to go see all the new students? I hope there's someone who likes science. Do you think they'll want to do some experiments with me Levi?" Hanji turned and Levi was nowhere in sight.
"Levi?"
---------------------
Levi weaved through the other students in the hall as he made his way to his next class. Holding his black bag on his shoulder, he blocked out whatever conversations were flying around him. It was all drama. She did this, he said that. That's what polluted people, in Levi's opinion. Feelings weren't something Levi wanted, they eat at you and eat at you until there's nothing left.
Levi soon found his way to his classroom. Stepping through the threshold, Levi quickly scanned the room to see Hanji and Erwin in the back, Hanji somehow beating him there, with a seat in between them saved for him.
He walked over and sat in his seat, dodging the spit ball Hanji intended to hit him with, making it hit Erwin instead.
"Hanji, the next time you do that, I will personally body slam you into hell." Levi said as he dropped his bag onto the floor.
"Hanji you better listen to him, he's serious." Erwin said with a hint of amusement as he watched the scene with interest.
"Ahhh blah blah blah. Levi's all bark and no bite, and besides he couldn't live without me." Hanji sang the last part as she smiled mockingly.
Levi scoffed and crossed his arms as he stared at the dirty chalk board at the front of the room. His mind wondered to the new students that were going to be joining his class. He already hated being around hundreds of people a day, and now there were going to be more? He didn't want any part of it.
The teacher soon walked in, along with five other students. He cleared his throat and said sternly,
"Good morning class. Today, as you already know, there will be five new students joining us. Students, one at a time, please step up and introduce yourselves." The teacher stepped aside and allowed them to start. First up was a boy with shoulder length blonde hair. He walked up to the center and said,
"My name is Armin Arlert, nice to meet you." He bowed and moved to the side for the next one to go.
"Boring." Levi said under his breath as he watched Armin.
"Good morning my name is Sasha Braus I love potatoes and food in general. Thank you." She bowed and stepped to the side.
"Gluten." Levi said once again under his breath. Levi furrowed his eyebrows once he got a good look at the guy that was up next. Brown hair, green eyed, perfect smile. He had all the components of an annoying popular kid and even more so, Levi felt instant threats when he locked eyes with him.
"Hello, my name is Eren Jaeger. I enjoy soccer, basketball, and swimming. I don't bite so please come see me and get to know me. Haha thank you." He smiled brightly and bowed.
Levi didn't say anything under his breath this time.
"So what's his one word definition?" Hanji whispered to Levi.
"Nothing good." Hanji sat back in her chair and said quietly,
"Well that's two words but I guess-"
"Hanji Zoe? Do you have anything you'd like to share with the class?"
Hanji froze and shook her head. Erwin snorted in laughter and Levi simply stared at the boy who he felt threatened by. He didn't know why, hell he didn't even know the kid, but something about him wasn't right.
The other two students were introduced and afterwards were all seated. Levi got out his phone and started playing with it during class, obviously not interested in whatever the teacher was saying. He had other things on his mind.
-------------------------
"So what do you think of the new kids?" Erwin asked as he leaned up against the locker next to Levi's.
"Don't care." Levi stated as he neatly stacked the books he was done with for the day in his locker.
"Oh come on. Hey that Eren kid looked pretty cool though." Levi shot his head up to look at Erwin and said sternly,
"You shouldn't make inferences based on their appearance."
"Oh so you feel threatened by him? Why because he's almost as handsome as you?" Levi ignored Erwin's statement and turned to go to the Library.
"Levi? Don't we have Chem next?"
Levi didn't reply and continued his way on to the library, not caring whether he had another class or not.
------------------
Levi quietly walked into the library and sat down in his usual chair beside the big stain glass window. He could read there with a tremendous amount of light and still be able to be comfortable.
Setting his bag on the floor, he took out the book he was reading earlier and silently read. He had finally gotten some piece and quiet and he was going to take full advantage of it.
Minutes passed and the silence went on, until the library door opened. Levi didn't pay attention to it at first but when a soft voice called out he couldn't ignore it, no matter how hard he tried.
"Um..excuse me? Can I ask you a question?" He looked up and locked eyes with a petite young woman.
"What." He said harshly, not quite sure how to respond otherwise.
"Um..my name is (Y/N) (L/N) and I was wondering if the librarian was around? I'm new here and I would like to get a library card." Levi tried to remember all the students that were in the introductions this morning, and strangely this person in front of him wasn't included.
"What class?"
"Ah I'm a senior, suppose to be in A-3. I was late today so I couldn't make the introductions." Levi sighed and put his book down.
"Be on time, next time." He got up, picking up his bag with him, and headed for the door.
(Y/N) quickly grabbed onto his arm and said,
"Wait! Please help me!" Levi stared down at the hand that was on his arm. He then looked up at her with harsh eyes, clearly telling her to unhand him.
With fear in her eyes, (Y/N) let her hand fall to her side.
"Sorry..um..thank you though." She smiled and bowed before leaving, her (H/C) hair following her every step.
Levi stood there, watching the door shut behind her. Levi stared at the door and said quietly,
"What a nuisance."
But little did he know how big that nuisance would become in his life. How that nuisance would become the soul purpose for his entire being.
A/N: Longer chapters will come. I know the first chapter sucked but I had to write it this way to get it started. I hope you all enjoyed. Thank you.
