Chapter 5

~Jonathon's POV~

I slam my hands on the front desk, startling Deli to quickly getting to her feet and swing a punch to my face but stops her fist connecting with my face in time once she sees that it's only me. She groans and sits back down.

"What is wrong with you?!" Deli huffs, glaring at me, "I can't go back to the comfortable position I was in before thanks to you!"

I pout, "You don't care that you almost punched me in the face?"

"Not really. I mean, did my fist connect with your face? Are you injured? Crying? No, so there's no reason for me to care that I almost did," She innocently smiles at me. I laugh at her reasoning. No point in arguing with her logic.

"Here," Deli tosses me a key. I catch it, seeing the scotch tape with pen ink on it, "Get Evan and send him down here. He's already running late."

"Sounds like you though," I head towards the stairs, feeling satisfied hearing a "Fuck you!" directed towards me.

There's a number three and a three digit number below the three scrawled on the scotch tape.

"Evan lives a floor below me? This should be interesting."

I find his room and knock.

"Evan? Deli wants you down in the lobby. You're late for work!"

I wait a bit before deciding to let myself in. I would've been fine with waiting but Deli can be impatient, I don't want to get dragged down alongside with Evan.

Just as I expected, there wasn't much when I stepped inside. If there wasn't a pile of papers on the TV table, I would've said that this room is available.

I went into the bedroom to find Evan laying on his bed, sleeping peacefully. Sunlight filters in through the slightly ripped curtains, making the room dappled with the soft morning light.

"Fuck, he looks so peaceful. I don't want to ruin that..." I frowned. "Just get it over with."

I walk over to his bed and yanked his blankets off of him. Evan immediately curls up into a ball, shivering from the lack of warmth.

"Up and at 'em! Time to go to work!" I cheerfully said, trying not to let the tiny guilt nag my mind too much. "You're late! So let's see here..."

I walk over to his suitcase and pulled out a pair of blue jeans and a nice black dress shirt. Tossing them on top of Evan, I walk myself out of the room.

"Bless the lords above that Evan doesn't sleep naked!" I hear him groan out with embarrassment. What? I can't help but tease him a bit.

I mentally snap my fingers, remembering that I should get my fridge fixed. I head to my room, chuckling at my room number.

"Room 420, hehehe," I silently chuckled. Who doesn't want a room that is 420 or 69? Now I'm being inappropriate, I should stop thinking like that.

Like everything else in the room, the fridge is dingy. Dull and shabby is the best way to describe it. Nothing else needs to be said.

"So I have a wrench and a screwdriver. Two essentials that are probably important to fixing a fridge. But I only have a wrench and a screwdriver... Let's hope that they're the right size and no other tools are needed. This is gonna backfire on me."

I rolled my ripped sleeves up (I changed into old clothes before starting), grabbed the wrench and started working.

"I can see it now; my past self screaming at present me to buy a new fridge but present me being me, I'm such a cheap ass to even consider it when I can fix it myself."

It's a matter of time before something screws up in my grasp and messes my entire face up. Wow, do I overreact or what?

~•~~•~~•~~•~~•~~•~~•~~•~

I lean back against the cabinets, sitting on the floor with my arms propped up on my knees. The fridge is in front of me; it feels like it's grown its own mind and face and is scowling at me for not being able to fix it up.

It's already there, the scenario and the dialogue that this fridge will say to me.

"What are you dawdling for? You should be fixing me up, not staring at the gas leaking out underneath me!"

That's it, I'm taking a break. My mind about talking fridges wants to break me before the nonexistent future of the zombie apocalypse that'll surely make me go crazy.

Hmm, I know Luke is working overtime today so crossing him out on the list of people to hang out with. There's Deli and I can maybe hang out with Evan. He's a nice guy so why not? We can all hang out after they're done with working the front desk, I know that today is one going to be one of their less busier days so they can end their leave early.

I stick my arm in the fridge once again but this time to find a small nozzle. Once I found it, I twist it to close the valve that's making gas leak out onto the kitchen floor. Yes! I didn't fuck up one of the more simpler things to do in fixing a fridge!

My face scrunched up at the amount of gas that managed to leak out onto the floor. I hold the rag I used to clean up the gas in front of me. How does someone dispose of a rag with gas soaked up into it?

I tossed it into my garbage can.
Hopefully Deli or Evan doesn't take any notice to the smell. Now time to take a shower because nobody wants to hang out with a guy who reeks of refrigerator gas.

Let's face it people, I'm bad at updating. No surprise there. None. Also, it's like everything is so against me with updating, it's ridiculous.

First, school. Which is understandable though as everyone sometimes can't update during this time. Then summer vacation rolls around and I say that I can update and look what I did! I didn't update! My laptop won't turn on anymore (which sucks because it's where I type my stories on), the wifi at my house got shut down because my dad wants the family to have more "bonding time." By which I mean that everyone sits in the living room glaring at my dad for taking the wifi away from us while he's on his PS4 playing Dark Souls.

Yeah, so that's that. Oh! Oh! And some news! Probably good news for those that likes my writing but bad news for the haters! Ah, I question myself. I'm already rambling so much now that I might as well finish this because it's 3:36 AM now as I'm typing this and my meds are kicking in so don't mind me, just fighting insomnia now HA!

I've been thinking about a new book! *throws colorful confetti* Is it good news? I hope so! Now I've gotten a few of my friends opinions on it and it's positive but I feel like that you, Wattpad people, take a peek at this as well! Not because I've been feeling extremely guilty for thinking this idea up while "Paper Boats" needed to be updated! Hehe... Yeah... Onto the idea.

A gang member who wears a pig mask does drug deals, gambling, negotiated for alliances, protecting his family, many more. Even meeting up with a lone rival in a gray mask with a significant omega symbol. How does he get away with this? Simple. He lies. Everyone has told dirty lies before. Nothing about lying is sweet. Whether it's a little, white lie or a big, ugly one. They're all the same. They're all lies. Nothing. About. Lying. Is. Sweet. Let's face it, even you've lied about something before.

You like? :3
