Chapter One

I watch through Peter's eyes as he heads to third period. Only a few hours in, and this is already been one of the greatest things I've ever done.

"Now trip Isabelle," I command him. It plays out exactly as I want. Peter must hate the complete power I have over him. Just like the power he had over me. I cackle into the headset as Isabelle gives him a glare. They used to be friends, but I changed that fairly quickly earlier this morning.

It was almost funny, really. Peter ruined my life; I'm just returning the favor.

"Good morning, Ms. Hurm," Peter says as he enters math, third period.

"Good boy," I told him. He's my little pet. "You know, Pete, I've been thinking. You've told me to kill myself numerous times. Maybe it's time you follow your advice."

Peter's breath hitches. I can hear it. I can hear his desperation to get out of this situation. News flash, it's too late. All I have to do in order to end Peter Smith's pathetic existence is push a few buttons on my keyboard. And he knows that.

Peter sits at his seat and pulls out his notebook. At first I think it's for notes, but he begins scribbling something. As he looks at it, I read. Please. You're better than this. His handwriting could be described better as chicken scratch. Either way, the words move me, but not in the way he hopes. You're better than this, he had written me. I wasn't better than this when he told me the world would be better off without a loser like me. When he told me I was just taking up space.

"Too late," I hiss and furiously type the kill code. Hand on the enter button, I smile. Finally, I can avenge myself.

I jump as the trapdoor open and I hear a clang of metal. No one knows about this basement! A small, shiny ball rolls towards me. After bending over to inspect the sphere, a blue gas seeps out. No! Frantically, I turn back to the computer. I need to finish what I started.

Everything blurs.

The keyboard.

My hands feel heavy.

Just one button.

I can't move.

You can't do anything right.

Nothing is clear.

Weak.

Blackness takes over.

Peter was right.

I fall to the ground.
