Chapter 6
'WHAT??'
That was the only thing I was capable of saying after hearing Elena's words. She grinned, nodding.
'I know right! I have NO idea how it actually happened, but right now it's like the whole prank thing with Will came true.'
'But..but...how??' I asked, now more shocked than ever. 'You need to tell me EVERYTHING. But after we get to my new apartment.'
'Yeah, ok! How about we get a taxi there?' She said, and I nodded in agreement. Twenty minutes later, we stepped out of the bright blue taxi in front of a tall glass building.
'Woah...' I heard Elena whisper to herself, and turning around, I saw her gazing up at the building.
'I know, it's great isn't it?' I grinned. 'My dad paid for it, that's why I was able to afford it.'
'Your dad?' She suddenly looked at me. 'This is the first time I've heard you mention your dad.'
'Ahaha, yeah... I don't know much about him, the last time I physically saw him was about 2 or 3 years ago.' I mumbled, then shrugged. 'Not that I care much about it.'
'How'd he manage to pay for it though?? It must have been so expensive!'
Gulping, I forced a smile.
'Well, he..he's a CEO.' I muttered, and looking up at her, I saw her wide eyes filled with surprise.
'But please don't ask me any more about him.' I asked, lowering my gaze and my voice. 'I'd prefer not to talk about him...'
'Oh ok...'She nodded slowly, taking everything in. 'But just...omg.'
I smiled. 'Just what?'
'Just that...you never told me about this!' She complained, and I shrugged, smiling slightly because she looked so annoyed.
'I haven't told anyone, you're the first person to know. Not even Tuana knows.' I explained. 'I didn't want anyone to know about him, that's why.'
'But why not?? I mean, it's not really a bad thing or anything is it?' She asked, to which I replied with a silence and by looking away, shrugging.
'Well..okay..' she continued. 'Btw can we go in now..?'
'Lol yeah sure.' I said, fishing in my handbag for the swipe card that I had received, and swiped it on the detector. I heard the glass door unlock with a click, and pushed it open, walking through it into the wide hall with smooth marble tiled floors. I spotted the receptionist sitting at a desk, hair pulled back tightly into a bun and a headset around her head. Turning around halfway, I gestured Elena to follow me and approached the receptionist.
'Annyeong haseyo.' I said, bowing, and she looked up at me blankly.
'Ne?'
'I have an apartment here.' I replied. She looked me up and down, glancing at my black bomber jacket, jeans and my black and white sneakers.
'Are you sure?' She questioned, raising an eyebrow, and I nodded in reply. 'What's your name?'
'Ae Sook Jeon. No, mianhaeyo, I mean Jeon Ae Sook.' I replied, bowing, and she gave me a look, obviously judging me.
'Hm.' She grunted, and turned to the computer, typing and clicking the mouse endlessly.
'Date of birth?'
'24 Sep 2000'
'Mother's name?'
'Jeon Yerin.'
'Father's name?'
'Park Jisoo'
As soon as I said those words, the receptionist paused. And looked up at me questioningly.
'What?' I questioned her. She stared at me for a while, and then lowered her gaze and continued typing. She held her hand out, eyes still fixed on the computer screen, and I assumed she wanted my swipe card, so I placed it in her palm. She swiped it on a machine, and then handed it back to me, eyeing me suspiciously. I guess she couldn't believe that the girl standing in front of her was the daughter of someone so sophisticated.
'Your room's been unlocked.' She explained. I nodded and bowed again, saying 'Khamsahapnida' before turning and walking to Elena, who was sitting down on one of the black sofas in the corner of the hall, looking at her phone.
'Let's go?' I asked her, grabbing the handle of my suitcase.
'Mhm!' She said, standing up and getting her own suitcase and backpack, and the two of us proceeded to the lift, to the 9th floor, and started walking to Room H17.
'So... tell me how you're going out with Jimin now?' I asked, turning my head to look at her.
'It's a long story, I'll tell you once we reach your apartment.' She grinned.
'Oh, ok. Sure.' I faced the front again, and we walked in a weirdly comfortable silence, but not soon later, we heard the sound of a door opening and the sound of footsteps.
'Someone's coming this way..' I whispered to Elena.
'Mhm.' She replied. 'So?'
'So, um...I don't know, I just...idk.' I replied, flustered, cautiously listening out for the sound of the footsteps. Sure enough, they were getting louder. We kept walking, as we turned the corner, we saw a tall man in a white t-shirt, a black jumper and jeans walking towards us, hands in his pockets.
'Sook!' Elena whispered at me, nudging me violently.
'Ow, what?' I asked, rubbing my sore elbow.
'Look!' She exclaimed quietly, gesturing at the silent person who was about 10 metres away from us now, walking whilst looking at the floor. He suddenly looked up at us, running his hand through his black hair and revealing his face; I froze. Elena continued walking. He walked past Elena, who turned back to realise I had stopped walking.
He saw me staring at him, and paused, but smiled at me.
'Annyeong haseyo.' He said.
