Author's Note
Mary Green grew up to work for a well established animation studio in California.
I hope to do the same.
I struggle between my crystal clear awareness of reality and my childlike faith that there could still be something unexplained and magical out there that just has yet to reveal itself to me. Sometimes in the dead of night I must fight the urge to tear off my blankets, jump out of bed, burst through the front door and out of the house, flail down my driveway and through the neighborhood before finally lunging myself into the dense forest nearby, hoping, knowing, something, something wonderfully impossible might just happen.
And that's why Mary and I are emotionally so connected. We don't want to grow up, we refuse to grown up: even as society hammers down its "realistic" demands. And that's why I still wonder. That's why I still sometimes eye my toys wondering what's going on inside their little minds. That's why I still sometimes go into the woods by myself and sing in a frightfully high pitch, wondering if anyone out there can hear me.
And that's why I still sometimes sit up in bed at 2:00 A.M., wondering when Phil will finally come through my closet door and just take me away on an adventure.
