Epilogue
Carriber Stone
I decide to make a check list for the things I needed for college. I mean, I can't just remember all of them. I pick a piece of paper, and start writing down.
It is time to leave for my college, right now. Graduation was over three months ago, and so are summer holidays. I'll be leaving for my University tomorrow, itself.
I am excited. To start college and begin a new chapter of my life. A lot has happened in my last year of high school. I got amazing memories, and I'm glad I do. After the holidays I spent returning completely normal after my depression, school had started again and this time I worked extremely hard. I guess it happens. When you realize you lost something you could have gained easily, due to something, you try your best to get it again.
But honestly, I am most excited to meet Allie.
Yes, we both are going to be studying in the same University. It wasn't intentional (a little bit, but still). When I got to know we both are accepted college, I was thrilled.
A lot had happened since I confessed by liking for Allie to her. She actually went offline, and I got scared. I thought I'd reply, but decided against it. I thought I freaked her out. But that night itself, she admitted she liked me too. She. Liked. Me. Too. I thought my heart stopped when I read it.
Dear Carriber,
Guess what? I happen to have a huge crush on you, too.
Love,
Allie
I couldn't sleep that night, out of sheer happiness.
We didn't propose each other to be in a relationship. Nope.
We just... became closer, I guess. I don't want us to be some loser couple dating over the internet, while they live in other states.
But we continued chatting, texting, calling, and sometimes writing letters to each other. So much, that without talking to her for a day made me miss her. We also skyped. She's so beautiful.
I couldn't lessen my liking for her. Instead, my crush on her grew. I was falling for this girl, so fast. Damn! But I couldn't stop smiling whenever I thought of her.
"Oh damn," I say to myself. "Focus, Carr. Focus. You can meet Allie tomorrow, only if you finish packing right now."
I finish my packing before midnight.
But when I wake up in the morning, my stomach is filled with butterflies.
My mind is in two parts: One, to wake up fast, and get ready for college as soon as I can. And two, not to wake up and instead just stuff my face into pillow. Anxiety, I tell you. I am still wondering if I should wake up or not, and suddenly Mom, Dad, and Dave enter into my room. "Carr!" they all yell. I playfully cover my ears, and then Dave drags me out of bed. Thanks bro, you just made that stupid fight in my mind, easier.
I don't know if it is because I am going to go to my University for the first time, or because it is a new start, or because I am going to face Allie for the first time in reality, I dress up with extra care.
Clean jeans, with a new T-shirt, and a denim jacket on. And of course, my lucky shoes.
When I see my phone for the first time, there are tons of message from my school friends. Some are wishing me, while some are saying goodbye. I reply to all of them.
"Carriber..." says Mom, "I'll miss you so, so much, honey." I know she is trying hard to hold back her tears.
Honestly, so am I. I wouldn't see my Mom, Dad, or Dave for the next few months... and it makes me sad. Dang you emotions!
I give extremely long hugs and kisses on cheek to Mom and Dave, before setting off for University along with my Dad.
In middle of the four hour journey, I get a text from Allie.
Hey, I reached.
I quickly type back a reply.
Oh, that's great. I am like... two hours away, I guess.
It isn't look she too replies back.
Ok. I am waiting for you. After you settle in, give me a text. We'll meet at the Common Dorm. You'll get to know where it is.
I smile and briskly type.
Alright. See you soon :)
Yeah ;)
"Oh dad..." I say when it is part for him to leave. We reached the University about an hour ago, and my Dad helped me bring im the luggage and everything.
I give him a hug, and after saying goodbye he leaves.
And that is when I remember about Allie.
I quickly start walking towards the Common Dorm, and text Allie.
She replies saying she is already there.
When I reach the door, my heart starts thumping like crazy.
What the hell? I thought it only happened in movies and books. Oh my...
I take in a deep breath and open the door. The Common Dorm is filled with students, right now. There is a lot of noise and people, but my eyes wandered for only one girl. Allie Watson.
And then... I see her.
I held my breath. She is so beautiful. She's wearing simple jeans, and a shirt, and her hair is tied into a neat ponytail. But even that simple look makes me hold my breath. I guess, when you like a person everything about them charms you.
I walk towards her, and halfway even she sees me. We both are beaming like crazy, when we are face-to-face.
Even though we aren't in a relationship, I couldn't help it.
I softly catch her face, and press my lips against hers.
The kiss wasn't long. About two or three seconds. But after we parted, we both are pink and smiling.
"Hey, Allie," I say, finally.
Her smile turns into a grin and she replies, "Hey Carriber."
-------------------------------------------------------------------
And... yep, this is the ending for Pen Pals.
Whoever is reading this, thank you so much for your support, reads, and comments till now. Seriously, thank you.
And though the ending might seem abrupt, this was how I planned it, and I knew Pen Pals would be short.
And... that's it, I guess.
Once again, thank you.
